Buy and pay off a Toyota.

I’ll add to this by simply saying once said Toyota is paid off then don’t sell it and repeat the process.

Why?

Because the best car payment is no car payment.

I cant argue with that 😌

My FIL recently gave my gf and I a 1993 Toyota 4Runner. That thing is 33 years old, as was not given to use in the most optimal condition.

Still use it for commute everyday, spend like only 15liters of gas every week for commuting, still can tow a friend, and it sure as hell still can go to my FIL's farm 1 hour away.

A Toyota is for the whole life.

Generally, yes. Tacomas in particular are built for 1,000,000 miles. Look it up.

Doesn't mean they won't need work. But if you keep up with maintenance and repairs, they will go the distance.

The longer you keep one reliable vehicle, the better your finances.

additionnaly; don't buy a german when you're young just to flex.

As a former Audi employee, this is a huge one.

Id tack on that if it seems like a good deal, its probably not.

Too quote the comment section of Garbage Time: There's nothing more expensive than a cheap Mercedes.

This right here. One of my most expensive life mistakes lol.

Agreed. They really aren’t that great. My parents had VWs and they were all lemons. I’ve always had Japanese cars myself and have loved every one.

Nah man I ( my father , I am 19 ) have a tata harrier and a 2014 vw vento . I have driven both and a honda city and a verna too and I would choose my vento any day over these two . It just feels great somehow .

I’m glad your luck with VW was better. They didn’t make the Vento in the US, so maybe yours are better made over there.

Definitely, my first car was a 2015 Volkswagen Passat that my parents found for 10k a few years ago, we payed the same amount in repairs as we did for the car, just to sell it for like 1.5k, and even then that was more than it was worth I'll never own another German car

True, my Prius has had a check engine light for 5 years, everyone tells me the cracked head is unrepairable and I NEED a new engine (more than the car is worth), reddit told me to use stop head leak (20$ fix), I have to do it again every year, and I have to buy more coolant twice a year, but the car has outlasted its terminal diagnostic by half a decade. I’ll drive that thing until it one day fails, I thought that would be like 4.5 years ago, but here we are, who knows? Maybe it will last another 5 years.

Finally something in this thread I’ve accomplished.

The current ones arent as good as the old ones. If you must, bite the bullet and spend a lot for a good condition old one.

Doing this as a 2# year old with a v6 rav4 thank you

Yep, and if you can survive without a car, even better. You know what's better than a car payment? A trip to Asia, then Europe, then South America, and so on and so forth
