πŸ™ I WANT HELP Econ and Maths Personal Statment Help! Please

β€’ Upvotes

Hello!

I have completed the second draft of my personal statment and donΒ΄t know if it is absolute joke or not. I had orginally planned on finishing this at the start of month but here we are. I was thinking of hiring a ps helper/consultant to further refine it before I apply to the courses I want to take, but dont know if they are just fearmongering and charging what seems to be exesive amounts.

Courses I plan on applying to

WARICK: Morse GLN0

WARICK: Economics

UCL: Econ and stats

STANDREWS: Financial economics

I am international and it only makes sense if I apply to good school.

Stats: IB Predicted 42, Math AI HL 7, Econ HL 7, Busman HL 6, Spansih SL 7, English SL 6, Computer Science 7, B in EE and C in TOK

Anyhelp on direction would be super helpfull

Thanks in advance

πŸ™ I WANT HELP should I switch politics to physics?

β€’ Upvotes

I'm honestly so torn rn. I'm such an indecisive person which is why I'm doing a mixture of subjects. But I think I either want to do maths+philosophy or history as a degree. Currently I take fm, maths, eng lit, history and politics. I love all my subjects but politics is lowkey kicking my ass. I take wjec which has no textbook/resources and my teacher doesn't teach properly, just gives us ai booklets n stuff which don't follow the spec. I love politics as a subject and outside of school but I hate the lessons sm. Also, if I were to do mathsphil I would be aiming for oxford and I feel like not having physics would be a disadvantage. Now, I'm not insanely passionate about physics either but I would be more comfortable revising it. Like, I feel a lot of stability in terms of revision when I revise STEM subjects, with humanities I feel like I'm plunging myself. But, eng lit and history I have a somewhat clear idea on doing stuff but politics idk. But I'm worried this is a really emotive decision. I don't know if it's a good idea or not. I had a similar problem at gcse where I ended up changing one of my subjects like 3 times. Idk if this helps but I find maths easier than humanities subjects. (I love humanities but they don't come easy for me)

Also, ik some people may tell me to just drop one of the subjects but I genuinely don't want to. I don't know exactly what I want to do yet and I plan on dropping a subject after AS levels (I do WJEC) as I hope I'd have a clearer idea then. But, I know I can't cope with doing physics and politics along with all the rest.

🍞 BREAD Oxford Chances

Hi so basically I’m an intl applicant from the US, midwestern public school.

I’m applying for PPE btw, open application, got allocated already

So basically I may have bombed the Tara problem solving module 🫩

On practice tests I got a 21/22 on both modules, critical thinking went swimmingly on the actual exam.

But for some reason when I got to the actual test I zoned out for like a few minutes just couldn’t think idek and I ended up guessing on like 7 ps questions probably like a 11/22 for problem solving. 😭

Smth like this has never happened to me before I just freaked outβ€”do I still have a chance? I think I did pretty solid on the essay.

I have a 36 act, with a 36 on math as well. For those of you not in the know thats like top 0.2 percent in the United States. All As, think highest academics possible with all 5s in related APs. I’m a little worried my counselor might not have written the rec properly though since it was his first time doing UCAS. He said I made sound like you would do a lot to help others in the future. Idk me and him are pretty friendly.

Wrote the personal statement pretty solid I think.

But anyway lmkβ€”do I have a chance at all or did I really fumble the bag?

If I have no chance js tell me so I can stop worrying abt this for my mental health pls πŸ™

❔ SUBJECT QUESTION Should I do A level English lit?

I’m currently in year 11 and I’m thinking about my options, I’m going to pick Art because In the future I’m gonna be an art teacher, and I’m also gonna pick sociology. I’m going to spend majority of my time doing art and most likely would only study 6 hours a week for English (if I pick it) and sociology each.

I don’t like reading very much, and now you might be wondering why would I do English lit for a level if I don’t like reading? Well I like analysing the texts a lot and I’m currently working at a grade 6. Id say my A02 and A03 is the best, my A01 isn’t very good because I sometimes struggle to think of a point to write because in the mocks I get stressed about it and spend too much time on it. Also I really dislike the poetry.

(If I don’t do English lit I’ll either do Geography or maybe Psychology, β€œmaybe” psychology because I suck at science and I’m unsure if I’ll even get the grade to do it)

If you did go to an open day what were your views/impressions of college ?

If you didn't go to an open day why not ?

πŸ’¬ DISCUSSION If I did poorly on the TMUA, can I ask imperial for a STEP condition or smth?

I've heard there's some people who get a STEP condition because imperial didn't quite like the score they got on the TMUA, and wants a sort of "second chance" for them. Is it worth asking for it and if so how do I do it?

πŸ’¬ DISCUSSION What else can I do to improve my chances?

Hi, so I'm a Y12 student (who moved to the UK less than 4 months ago from Singapore). I'm not that rich, so I won't be able to afford the UK university overseas fee. Hence, I'm applying to US universities for Politics or Economics from a state grammar school.

I did the IGCSE curriculum in Singapore, and scored A*s in 11 subjects. I have a good SAT score of 1550. I'm doing 4 A-Levels (FM, Math, Econ & History) + EPQ. For my extracurriculars, I was part of the Singapore Debate Team and served as captain last year. I am currently doing an internship at a charity where I'm helping marginalised families gain access to social welfare by assisting them with filling forms, documents, etc.

I really wanna go to Harvard, since it's my dream but idk what else to do. I would really appreciate any insight/feedback!! Thanks

Edit: I know there are US subreddits, but they're pretty useless for overseas applicants.

πŸŽ“ UNI / UCAS Personal statement with no work experience

I don’t really have any supercurriculars or work experience β€” I’m applying to politics. My predicted grades are A*AA, and I know I can talk about books/online lectures and stuff like that, but I don’t have really any kind of work experience, experience in leadership, or proper formal supercurriculars and I just feel like my personal statement is not gonna be good enough, I feel like everyone I know has done all sorts of formal work experience and stuff!!!
