Hi, sorry for the potentially stupid question but I wanted to check before I sell my n3ds. As I'm selling it I wanted to delete my nnid but impulsively I did it through the system settings rather than godmode9 (ik i should have followed the wiki). It deleted a bunch of games- most of them were ones I bought on the eshop but some were from Internet archive iirc. It seems to be operating fine but I haven't played extensively and I wanted to check as I would hate to sell it and have issues prop up later. Please forgive me if this is a stupid question.

TL;DR: On my Korean New 2DS XL, installed GBA VC titles booted to a black screen with the backlight on. The cause is in AgbBg (the process that runs GBA mode). Installing a fresh AGB_FIRM CIA and loading a patched AgbBg.cxi through Luma fixed it. Boot screen, sound, the HOME dialog and in-game saves all work.

Setup

• Korean New 2DS XL, system 11.16.0-42K, Luma3DS v13.4
• Symptom: black screen, backlight on, no sound, HOME and Rosalina unresponsive, 10+ second power hold to shut off
• open_agb_firm, Open AGB Launcher and ndsForwarder all worked fine, so the GBA hardware is OK

What I found
I patched probes into AgbBg to see how far it gets. It stalls while building the HOME-button dialog UI (function 0x302990). That function takes the system language and a second config value (config block 0x140000, which I believe is the region). The dialog text embedded in the image only covers NL, EN, FR, DE, IT, PT, RU, ES and JA, with no Korean or Chinese.

Forcing only the language to English did not help. Forcing the second value to 1 fixed it, so the second value (the region, I believe) is the problem, not the language.

The fix

1. Download the AGB_FIRM CIA from 3dnus. The title ID is 0004013820000202 for New 3DS family consoles and 0004013800000202 for Old 3DS family consoles.
2. In GodMode9, back up SysNAND first, then install the CIA with “Install game image”.
3. Enable “Enable loading external FIRMs and modules” in the Luma settings (hold SELECT at boot).
4. Put the patched module at /luma/sysmodules/AgbBg.cxi on the SD card. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KA0PLxZItrMU-I88kszWdJDBac-LtFu1/view?usp=sharing
5. Launch the GBA VC title from HOME.

The patch is one 2-byte change in .code at file offset 0x2550, inside the function at 0x302538 that reads the region value. ldrb r0, [r0] (00 78) becomes movs r0, #1 (01 20). After that, the ExeFS has to be rebuilt uncompressed and its SHA-256 hashes and size fields recomputed. I’m not attaching a patched file because it contains Nintendo’s code. The offsets above are for the AgbBg build I analyzed.

Results: boot screen OK, the “About Game Boy Advance Software and Sleep Mode” notice OK, HOME dialog OK, sound OK. In Pokémon FireRed I saved a report in game, relaunched, and resumed from the saved position.

Caveats, so nobody is misled

• I don’t know whether the other-region AGB_FIRM I copied at the start was actually required, or whether the patch alone would work on a stock system. The same symptom already appeared on the completely stock system before I copied it.
• After installing the fresh CIA, I also tried renaming the patch file, and GBA VC still worked. So the CIA may be enough on its own. I included the patch because that is the combination I verified end to end. If you try it, test with and without the patch.
• I confirmed that a Korean console actually returns 5 for block 0x140000 only indirectly, from how it behaves.
• Only tested with Pokémon FireRed on one console. System updates may change the AgbBg build and the offsets.
• Back up your NAND before installing any system title.

I wrote up the full investigation (experiments, call flow, hypotheses ruled out) in a document and can share it if people want. Resetting the game doesn't help, idk what to do. I was really enjoying the game. Anyone have any tips?

Recently updated CTGP 7 to 1.6.29 and I can’t play multiplayer. It gives me an error 002-3000: “The network is experiencing high traffic or the service is down”. Then after I exit, I get “failed to connect with the ctgp 7 server. please try again later 0x80000007”

Is anyone having the same issue and if not, does anyone know how I can fix this error?

So my modded o3ds has been acting up lately and I've narrowed it down to a most likely failing SD card. It's not an issue in itself as I managed to make a copy of the whole SD card on my computer to save everything I had on it.
My question is the following: is it possible for me to just copy the saved files onto a new SD card and have it work just like that or do I have to go through a clean install all over again ?

Also second question: if my new SD card isn't the same size as my old one (probably will try to upgrade to 64GB or maybe even 128GB from 32GB) will it work as intended aswell or does the difference in drive size break something ?

this is the second time that the console freezes while downloading, what should i do?

What’s the best way to mod a 3dsLL with a broken 3dslider. I got it as a present for my kid and they said the 3d was working but there’s no actual slider. Will using a 2ds mod brick the console or will it let me skip the 3ds setup process?

I've recently modded my 2DS, and aside from a few technical bugs, it's been going well.

I've just installed Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions from the hShop (Under the NA section specifically) and at first, I noticed there was no 3D graphic up the top when hovering over it on the home menu. I didn't think much of this, but started the game to make sure it still worked despite this and it ran perfectly fine, but when I went to close it, it suddenly started making this ear piercing noise on the home menu, I had to turn off and restart the 2DS just to get it to go away. Now I'm left wondering if this is A. Something I should be worried about and B. If there is a fix for this.

So im trying to clean out my badges to make room for new ones but I cant seem to get them to fully delete. Ive deleted them manually with my SD card and laptop, ive tried doing it through FBI but they keep showing up on the badge manager app. My 3ds is fully modded so I can do pretty much any advice given please help!😭

So, I had a 3DS fat with homebrew. It got some water damage and doesn't turn on anymore. Apparently, these files on its micro SD may belong to Pokémon Moon encrypted data and it's save game file. My question is: can I turn that .sav file into a usable format so it can be ported to a new modified 3DS, in a way I can conserve the save game? If so, how can it be done?

I was downloading a game through Ghosteshop for my 3ds XL then eventually I accidentally switched my 3ds off. Now, my SD card could not be detected and the only thing that works properly is literally FBI (thankfully my 3ds console did not br1ck).

I formatted my og SD card which couldnt work anymore and I tried using a new sd card to copy my back up files but literally, I couldnt download h shop or anything through QR code as there was always an error saying unable to download FAT32 soemthing like that

I really neeed help and if someone has the working files for 3ds homebrew will be much appreciated and if someone can guide me to fix this... Thank you so much!

I recently bought a new sd card for my 3ds, I formatted it to fat 32 using GUIFormat and transferred all my old data to it. It reads the old sd without problem it is only the new one that is giving me trouble . Formatted the SD with godmode9 and solved the issue

Console Details:
Model: Japanese Nintendo 3DS LL (Mint Green)

Status: Fully modded with Luma3DS / CFW & region-changed from JP to US/English.

Storage / Saves: SD card intact, all games and saves working normally.

The Issue: Whenever I launch PictoChat, DS Download Play, or DS game forwarders to play local DS multiplayer (e.g., Super Mario 64 DS), the console immediately crashes with the error screen:
"Communication error. The Nintendo DS will now shut down."
Single-player DS games (loaded via TWiLight Menu++ / NDS Forwarders) work fine.

Native 3DS-mode local multiplayer (e.g., 3DS Mario games) works without any issues.

The crash only happens when launching legacy DS-mode wireless apps or features.

Troubleshooting Steps Already Attempted:
Luma3DS Configuration Checks:
Verified Luma3DS settings and tried toggling options like game patching / locale settings.

TWLFix & System Update:
Ran TWLFix-CFW via Homebrew Launcher to uninstall broken/corrupted TWL (DS mode) system titles.

Performed a 3DS System Update afterwards to redownload fresh stock DS system files from Nintendo servers.

FBI Ticket Cleanup:
Cleared unused/orphan tickets using FBI under Tickets > Delete unused tickets.

DS NVRAM / System Configuration Reset (GodMode9):
Booted into GodMode9, navigated to [1:] SYSNAND CTRNAND/data/<ID0>/sysdata/.

Deleted the 00010017 configuration folder to force the console to re-initialize its internal DS NVRAM and system configuration profile upon reboot.

Completed the initial 3DS setup prompts after rebooting.

TWiLight Menu++ Direct ROM Launch:
Attempted launching the .nds ROM file directly through TWiLight Menu++ on both consoles to initiate in-game local wireless/VS mode.

Question: Is there any known fix for DS-mode wireless NVRAM mismatch on a JP-to-US region-changed 3DS LL, or is this an unfixable limitation of the region change on this specific hardware revision? Any advice or alternative fixes would be appreciated! I feel like I tried just about everything and that message still pops up.

Every time a game tries to save, it just crashes. When I turn my 3ds on, it shows a blank home screen, it only returns back to my normal home screen when I reboot the console.

My SD card is not corrupted. (64 GB)

I just bought this Nintendo 3DS, I have noticed that it has these two black boxes in the Home Menu. Trying to open them only causes the console to crash.

I have already tried to format the console and the SD card but they still do not disappear, is there any way to know to which program those black boxes were linked or any way to delete them?

Apparently the 3ds is going into something called "downtime", is this something I should be worried about since I modded mine and downloaded a few things via hshop?

I just purchased a 3DS XL off of eBay. I believe it is modded (Godmode9), and has been set to the correct region (USA). I did preform deleting the 00010017 file.

I have now tried two copies of Pokemon Ultra Sun. Both times, I insert the cartridge, open the game, and see the Nintendo 3DS loading screen.

Then, my console shuts off entirely. There is a “click” noise. Other games, Pokemon X and Animal Crossing: New Leaf, work fine.

Please help!

Greetings. This video shows the 3DS of a friend which won't start games. Only Mario 3D Land and NSMB2 work. Luma is updated, and we tried formatting to see if that worked, but it didn't. Installing CIAs from different sources and even via Hshop don't work either. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
