This is a Public Announcement regarding r/Roms: Community Rules, Results from Breaking Our Community Rules and Posting Requirements.

Listed below are some major changes for this subreddit.

Community Rules

01. Toxic Behavior

Please be respectful towards all fellow community members. Do not do the following or you may face a temporary or permanent ban from this subreddit: Do not attack a community member through any means. Post, Comments, Direct Messages, Doxxing or Trolling. If you feel you're being attacked from another fellow member of this community please submit screenshots of your conversation with said member('s). We will do our best to investigate the situation.

Spam

No promotion, spam, or advertising of any kind is allowed here. Unless given approval by u/SuperBio to do so, all posts or comments of this nature will be removed from this community.

Note: If you receive approval from u/SuperBio to promote anything in this community, the first line of the body of the post must say, "Moderator Approved" and then on the third line, go into detail about what you're promoting.

Public Announcement PSA: ROMs on Internet Archive

Edit: Has of Oct 03, 2026 I have stopped my uploading process. This is due to me moving. I will update you guys when my computer is up and running and I am uploading again. Sorry.

I have begun uploading No-Intro sets to my Internet Archive; ChaosRenegade22 account. All sets will be in 7z format. Links to my sets include a compression tool, which you should be able to download to your computer and extract the files to your device. You might need to find a compression tool on your phone to extract 7z files.

My main goal is to upload all sets from my collection, including No-Intro, Non-Game, Non-Redump, Redump BIOS, Redump Custom, Source Code, and Unofficial.

I want to note that for all No-Intro sets, every second week of the month, I will grab updated files for the sets and push an update to my sets uploaded on the Internet Archive.

u/Superbio Internet Archive; Superbio account is uploading sets as well, Redump sets, but they are directly from Myriets collection and won't be as up-to-date as my sets will be once I begin uploading Redump sets, but at least you will have two sources to grab from on the Internet Archive.

Had a-lot of missed updates on T-En which i've now added.

100% 3DS repo

Sega MD+ also updated with new audio compilations.

Arcade (FBNeo) is getting tons of new hack updates.

Fixed Mario Kart 8 Deluxe OST also to not be corrupted.

MIA list is shrinking by the week.

Also added DatOMatic dates to folders, but it seems DoM is down for the moment.

For Nintendo DS section, should I be using the Encrypted, Decrypted or Download Play options?

Question ROM Installation Service?

Hello,

I’m new to the idea of ROMS, I’ve watched several tutorials and still failed to properly get them to work. I was wondering if anyone knew a service in the UK where I could send in my Steam Deck and Legion Go 2 with a list of ROMS I’d like to be added, and set up for easy access and play?

I’d much rather someone else who actually knew what they were doing attempted it than me, who has made a mess of it on several occasions.

Would obviously need to be done through official means by someone reputable, as in a service on eBay etc. As I can’t just send off expensive hardware to someone without trusting that I’ll receive the devices back.

Any suggestions would be great as I’ve written out a list of ROMS I’d love to be able to play across multiple consoles.

Request Does anyone have a full 3DS seeddb.bin?

The one from ihaveamac has a lot of entries, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't have all.

The hShop pages for their games entries show the seeds when you open them, but I don't think they have a list of all the seeds or a way to download a seeddb.bin or a plaintext copy of them, at least, any that I have seen, and noting thousands of those manually by hand would be rather difficult to say the least.

So if anyone has that and would be willing to share, then I would be really thankful for that.

Of course if I'm wrong and that seeddb.bin does have all the seeds, then do let me know if I'm wrong.

4 am Just found an answer to a dumb mistake I made four hours ago involving .gba file change

Basically in an attempt at compressing files to put into my SNES Mini I accidentally somehow set my .gba type files to open as .zip files even though they still worked in the emulator.

Basically all it came down to was changing the file app it opens with. Just go to the desktop. Open a new text file and change the full name from untiled.txt to literallyanything.nonsense. then open the properties of the file, in this case, .gba and change it to open with the .nonsese type. It'll basically just removes the 7zip icon to a blank image like anything else.

This all just came down to wanting to organize my files better. So I guess I hope this helps or what oertrooper said if that applies.

NHL 3 on 3 Arcade full game for the xbox 360??

Does anyone know if the files for the full version of this game exist anywhere? It seems like its almost lost media. The game hasn't been on the xbox store for 10 years, and every version I've downloaded has been the demo. Sketchy and reliable/known sites all just have the demo. I've never played the full version of this game before, would be a childhood dream come true lol

Edit: I should've also specified im trying to get the game running on an RGH Xbox, not on xenia or any emulators, if that even changes anything.

Question Torrenting Question

So, I'm new to torrenting files for roms and I'm trying to use the megathread to get update files for some 3ds games. When I tried, It said I was torrenting 300 Gigs worth of files and not the 30MB patch I was trying to download. Am I doing this right or am I missing something when I click on the magnet link? For context, I'm using qbittorrent and pretty green to this.

first,buy a real snes cartridge of the game and oh no you dont have a dumper! ok..then buy a console...yeah,then DISARM IT,SMASH IT AND BONK IT to make it a dumper so you can conect it to your pee cee,after the masacre and dumping you can now play shaq fu on a computer! just try to find an emulator in the linkless,only binary but program world of github while you question to yourself why wouldnt just play the game in the console

obviously this is a joke,but is what the mayority of big emulator makers whant you to do!,even if the company and licenses behind the console are all gone nor the multi billion company doesnt care about it anymore,also,you can get banned from various discord servers and subreddits for saying the word "rom" this is true and it happened to me a copule times,this totally defeats the purpose of emulation,game preservation,FUN,and i just wanted to rant about it cuz ik that if i posted this on r/emulators i would get banned on sight

Question Can't open Sonic CD .cue file

I'm new to CD roms, entirely. Prior to a few days ago I had no experience in the area, but I also got interested in playing Sonic CD and now nothing I do seems to work.

I've tried downloading different roms from different websites, but ultimately, the same thing happens: I can't mount the cue file, whatever tool i'm using (looks sort of like 3 discs, says "pick drive number and mount" when right clicking on .cue files) just always says "Unknown or corrupt image file" no matter what it is, game, sample or anything.

If anyone has any information on this, I'd be very happy to hear it. At this point, I'd be happy to be able to open ANY cd roms, not just games.

Japanese rom of Pokemon Emerald?

Hey folks. I've had some trouble tracking down a Japanese version of the Pokemon Emerald ROM. First I tried compiling from the decomp but apparently the decomp is not complete, so it requires a copy of the original in order to compile. I stumbled across this community and am hoping someone might be able to help me? I checked the megathread and each site linked in the About page, but have only been able to find US and European versions of Pokemon Emerald. I searched Internet Archive as well but mostly got romhacks. Lemme know if you can help me out 🙏

Question Is it safe to play a ROM that, when decompressed, throws an error saying "uncompressed file with errors: file too large"?

Good afternoon, recently when trying to extract a copy of one of my games, I wondered about the title issue. With the first copy, when extracting it to an SD card not formatted as exFAT, I managed to decompress it, Luckily, the game started and I didn't see practically any errors or anything; the save file was intact and even though I only played for 10 minutes everything looked perfect. Could there be consequences to doing this?
