Colt Combat Unit
Just got this pre-owned CCU, which I’m excited about putting to the test. Haven’t shot it yet, more to come after that. First Colt - likely not last but a few observations…
Things I like: finish seems solid and looks good, checkering feels good, rollmarks seem well stamped, ponies are nice, rail is beefy and makes the pistol feel extra solid, slide to frame fitment is better than I expected
Things I don’t like: the trigger fitting must have been done by a blind monkey - feels like it’s about to fall out, magwell is a teensie bit loose (ever so slightly - ideas there?), rear sight doesn’t look completely centered (we’ll see how she shoots), thumb safety is weird - right side is thinner than the left, which feels counter intuitive, not as snappy as I was hoping.
Overall I‘m pleased based on the deal I got, and this was more a nostalgic/historical purchase - but I do expect better from 1911s that cost over $1K.
