I snagged two like-new TRP Operator half-rail, bull-barreled samples last summer and sent them off to Nighthawk’s Custom Shop. One for my dad’s 60th birthday and an identical copy for me.
Work includes:
- Chunk port + flush cut & crown barrel
- IOS system
- French border
- Everlast recoil system
- “butler” cut on front of slide at same angle as the serrations
- NHC slide stop + HRT cut
- Reliability + Action Tune package
- Trigger job w/ flat trigger + Harrison large hole ring hammer
- NHC magwell, grip safety, and thumb safety
- Engraving of my dad’s initials and birthday under the grips
- High cut under trigger guard
- Dehorn for Carry
- Smoked Nitride finish
- Blackout package (DLC barrel + trigger)
- Gold bead front sight + Heinie Ledge rear
- Mammoth tusk grips made by High Figure Grips
Work on both guns was performed by Steven Cox.
If you’re interested, I asked for the build to be documented so that I could have a photo book as a keepsake to go along with my dad’s gun. I’m still awaiting the final build sheets and test target, but here’s what it’s looking like so far:

I picked up the third in the continuing series of I like Springfield. I had to wait to pick up the Garrison for a few days, you know, in case I was angry. We now have the Garrison 5" in 45, Ronin 4.25 in 45 and the Emissary in 9mm.

Standard MFG 1911A1 - brand new.
Literally the single most expensive gun I have bought all at once (built nice ARs) and it arrives as a worthless pile of junk. I literally do not even think I can fix this. Safety is fit just as bad. Putting it back together.
I have had about 6 Tisas 1911s and ONE of them required me to hit a slide stop a couple passes w a file - I could have bought three or four of them for the price of this absolute pile of dogshit

I've been wanting a full rail TRP for a while and grabbed this a couple days ago. You guys are a bad influence.

Gotta love a Colt based custom 1911. LRM to boot.

My "Whole lotta nuttin" 1911. She was my EDC before I upgraded to my Wilson. It was an IDPA gun when I bought it. It's a Caspain frame with a Colt upper and some trick internals.

Just thought i would post my EMP 4 after 5000+ rounds through it now. I think i am near 6000 now but stopped counting after 5k.
Been in carry rotation for years now and still look new. Swapped out the recoil spring but that is about it.

Made these custom 1911 grips with deer and wolf reliefs. They’re 3D printed in brown ASA-GF, with a subtle wood-grain texture and darker details to give them a more natural look.
What do you think? Note: Sorry in advance, but I only have photos of the grips on a Colt 1911 replica. I don't have access to a real 1911 at the moment.

Got this with their 20% off Labor Day sale.
I have to say this thing is a piece of art - the craftsmanship is stunning and it fits the 1911 perfect. Very tight but I’ve got the gun in a plastic bag sitting in it - I’ll pull it out tomorrow and it should be pretty well fit to the gun.
Can’t wait to wear this! I currently have a hernia and can’t comfortably appendix carry, so this timing is perfect.

Hey everyone, long story short this is my 1911 chambered in 22. It’s just a fun plinker. I didn’t know this at the time but I ordered one that is California complicit. Which means the end of the barrel can’t come off. Attached is a video that I sent to my dad but I think you guys will get the point of what I am asking. Thank you!
(Kind of new to the whole gun scene)

This sr1911 has been sitting in a closet for years. It didn’t show any rust until I took the grips off. Thought it was very minor surface rust that I tackled with 0000 steel wool and oil. These blemishes remain and I dint want to up the elbow grease and mess something up without seeing if anyone else has gotten rid of something similar. I was also looking into doing a DLC coating on the frame. Do coaters typically try and treat things like this before coating or just slap it on? Thanks for any help.

I guess this is part 2 of my first post about dropping coin on my old para gi expert. I came to the conclusion that it wouldn't have the features I need so I dropped that idea.
Must haves; rail, optic cut out, magwell and beavertail.
So I came to the two above. I have shot my friends sig scorpion and thought it was fantastic. I've never shot the trp.
Thoughts or recommendations?
