Advice Needed My boyfriend grosses me out

Post image

Leftover dry meatballs

My boyfriend has a very distinct smell. It’s not a bad smell, it’s simply a smell that I don’t particularly like. When I’m around him I sort of feel gross, and I smell the smell on my skin and on my clothes and I hate it. When he comes over to my house and then leaves, the smell remains in my bedroom.

Fridays are the days I wash my sheets and also the day he comes over. I’ve been purposely washing my sheets late at night when he leaves. Mainly because I don’t want people on my fresh sheets, but also so I don’t have to deal with the smell for another week.

I take a shower after he leaves, and I already take two showers every single day, so now Fridays I take three.

I don’t know what to do, I know he can’t control how he smells (especially since it’s nothing to do with higiene), but I just hate the smell and I’m constantly feeling grossed out.

AIO? Strange Vibe from Possible Employer

I’m currently applying for some jobs and found one on LinkedIn that brought me to this person. I wrote a note, sent out the connection, and submitted my resume. He responded back very quickly, explaining how the job posting is for a position that is in the early stages of a startup, said my resume looked great, and gave me his bosses name as well. I looked them both up and they seem legit but I’m getting a weird vibe from his messages. Am I worrying about nothing, or does this seem strange?

EDIT: I’m not going and I messaged his boss.
Yes, my photo is on my LinkedIn. Yes, I’m a woman.
No, the job is not for starbucks, that’s was just a place for an interview.

If a restaurant sold a bottle of wine for $14,000 and a person ordered it not knowing that was the cost, are they legally required to pay for the wine if they finish it?

Edit: for everyone saying yes what’s the limit then? Can they charge 1 million? A billion?

Advice Needed I don't take off my bra

Post image
1.6k Upvotes

Image: Went on my very first solo date, tried sushi for the first time, along with kothey momos and watermelon mojito. Enjoyed everything, 10/10 would do it again.

I never take off my bra, have not taken it off since I was a teen and started wearing them (except showers and sex).

I grew up in a very conservative family and a very selfish mother.

She would never let me take off my bra, even in bed or at home alone. I would be berated if it even looked like I didn't have a bra on (even when I did). It made me utterly self conscious and I felt that taking off your bra was 'not allowed' (even though my mother took hers off).

I have now grown into a heavy-chested woman, and I still have never taken off my bra to sleep or in the day. I tried it once and could not fall asleep. It physically hurts to wear them to sleep but it mentally hurts to take them off.

Have also heard that not taking off your bra increases risks of breast cancer (idk if it is credible tho), and that scares me too. So idk if it's ok to keep wearing it or I should take it off or what tbh.

Stuck in a conundrum of sorts lol

go to your room I don’t want to decorate my office and I get unsolicited comments about it every single week.

Post image

The walls behind me also have nothing on them. I LIKE IT THIS WAY. I don’t see any point in decorating an office at all. I dont want to be here in the first place so why put any effort into decor? Even when I did enjoy working somewhere I still didn’t effing decorate.

I’ve worked here for two years and I’ve never decorated my office in any way. I’ve received comments from the get go, but we recently shuffled offices and now more people comment on how I need to decorate. Three just today.

This happens every week like clockwork. Why do you care? I don’t supervise anyone so it’s not like I have people in here ever. I don’t have kids or pets and even if I did I wouldn’t put their pictures in my office because the less people know about my personal life the better. As far as I’m concerned, work is work and my personal life begins the minute I walk out the door.

I legitimately have zero desire to decorate my office. It’s not laziness, it’s not some silent protest, and I’m not waiting for someone to encourage me to make the space feel more welcoming. I simply prefer it this way. Frankly, the more people insist that I need to decorate, the less inclined I am to ever put anything on these walls.

Why is having a completely bare office such a foreign concept to some people? I keep it very neat and clean so why does anyone care how someone else chooses to keep their workspace? Adding decor wouldn’t make me want to be here any more or less than I already do or do not.

Edit 1: for those asking or suggesting I should decorate to make the office more comfortable for myself - even if I had my “dream job” I wouldn’t decorate the office because I don’t like being in an office period, and no amount of decor will make me feel better about it. This office is comfortable enough for me.

Edit 2: I am only on this office 3X a week

Edit 3: for those asking about my home - it is decorated more than this but not by a ton. I don’t have the eye for it nor the desire to spend money on decor

Employment 17y Position “Terminated” offered weak severance?

Today I was handed a note, terminating my High level management, salaried, position at a company I’ve worked for for 17 years.

The note says in lieu of notice I’m getting wages based on length of service, which they stipulate as being only 8 weeks of wages. The letter states that this is based on Manitoba Employment Standards.

I’m being told by many that that is astonishingly low and that I should consult an employment lawyer.

Thought I’d get opinions here, as I’ve seen some scenarios before.

If it matters, I’m 37, position in Marketing at a Manitoba manufacturing company that has done quite well in growth in the 17 years I’ve been there. 3 of my team were also let go, possibly a 4th.

Didnt Update my Linkedin after leaving, my ex employer is now having a difficult time replacing me.

3.3k Upvotes

One of the things I dont update immediateluy is my Linkedin profile. I told colleagues from my ex employer that its been a practice of mine. Until I move to a new employer, my profile remains as is.

4 weeks after leaving, I noticed that new talent recruiters within and those servicing my ex employer has been stalking my profile. After a quick chat with couple of fellow disgruntled employee (who still is employed there), I found out the company is having a hard time filling out my previous role even after sweetening the job offer by 30% more. There was even 1 potential applicant who messaged me personally about what it is like to work for my ex employer and ex boss. My honest review made him decide to accept the job offer - of another company. I know because all of a sudden, the job ad is freshly re-uploaded to Linkedin, and indeed, and now with even higher compensation package.

I dont want anybody risking their personal integrity and reputation working for that company anymore.

i'm not a medical professional but these don't look right to me...

the teacher is literally a licensed medical specialist* and he doesn't see anything wrong with these i guess??

*edit - 'licensed medical specialist is probably not the word. The teacher is a former ICU nurse (i think, something relating to the ICU) and worked some other jobs relating to that. i don't remember exactly

*edit 2 - i have a test on this topic next week...

✅ Verified Claim iPhone Duo screen cracked within 6 hours of ownership

Post image
5.2k Upvotes

Edit: (moving this to the top)

it’s not AI the screen hasn’t been tampered with that’s not a reflection of a fluoro light. That’s the glitch of the screen from the crack, its a band of white pixels . Its an optical illusion. Also I’m blocking a personal photo…

Also that black artefact at the bottom of the table that’s me using markup and not checking my work…

Original Post:

Had my iPhone Duo for about six hours and had probably opened it fewer than 20 times.

I was showing it to a friend, and as I opened it, I felt something around the internal hinge, underneath the screen.

As I continued opening it, I heard an audible crack, and the screen broke right along the hinge.
There were no marks or damage on the inner screen’s surface or the external hinge to suggest anything had been caught or damaged.

Called Apple, and they offered an express replacement, but I’d have to put down a hold for the full cost of the phone, and they couldn’t guarantee how quickly I’d receive a replacement.

Decided to head to my nearest Apple Store instead. They saw me straight away, apologised and replaced it with a brand-new one on the spot.

All in all, happy with how Apple handled it, but pretty disappointed to be spending my Friday night at the Apple Store just before closing. I hadn’t even finished signing into all my apps yet.

Day zero, six hours of ownership, and already on my second phone.

Edit:Also I live in Australia it’s almost midnight Friday night.

TV & Movies 🎬 What’s the single greatest moment of acting you’ve ever seen?

Thumbnail

1.4k Upvotes

Not necessarily the best overall performance in a movie or TV show, but one specific scene or moments within a scene where an actor was so incredible that you genuinely couldn’t believe what you were watching. I’ve had to rewind sometimes just to watch it again. I love performances that take my breath away.

Toni Collette in Hereditary at the dinner table. No notes.
Viola Davis breaking down in Fences. Chef’s kiss.
Florence Pugh’s final scene in Midsommar. Great starmaking performance.

I also love anything with Kate Winslet.

Advice Wanted - Everyones Welcome My friend's daughter came into me, now an almost 20 year friendship is down the drain

Post image
15.1k Upvotes

So, I’ve been close friends with this guy since I was young when he was a leader in my youth group. I’ve known him since I was 13. He’s older than me by about 7 years, and as I got into adulthood we just naturally became friends. We’d game together most every night, we would go on group camping trips together, and he was one of my groomsman at my wedding. Super close with the guy. I’m godfather to his youngest kid. Guy has a wife and three kids, the oldest of whom is his 19 year old daughter that he had straight out of high school. Our family, his, and a whole bunch of our other friends were at an end of summer get together bbq a couple weeks back. A lot of them were swimming in his pool, playing basketball, the works. Thinking nothing of it, I head inside to go to the bathroom, his daughter follows me. She tries to come onto me when I’m done and heading back outside, and I very firmly shut that down. In her defense, she had been drinking. I brooded on whether to tell my friend about it for a couple weeks, because I didn’t want to make things awkward and I’m aware that she might not have done it if she hadn’t been drinking, but in the end I decided that if I was in his shoes I would want someone to tell me. So, I told him. Guy blew his absolute lid; never known him to be that hostile. So, now it looks like I’m out a friendship that’s been with me for more than half my life. I dunno, I just feel like a dumbass for bringing it up in the first place.

Edit:

First of all, yeah I know, I messed up the title 😆

Second of all, I'm married, should have clarified that more clearly in the original post. Not gonna try and sleep with the girl, because she's like a child to me, because she's my friend's daughter, because girl sexually assaulted me, but most importantly because I have a wife.

Third, and most importantly, it's with an immense amount of gratitude in my heart that I say thank you to everyone leaving comments in support! It's been overwhelming and humbling! I also appreciate the people giving the opposite impressions, because I think there's a lot of value in diversity of thought! I've tried to respond to as many as I possibly can!

I'll update if anything major happens!
