When we started Berry Open Streets in 2020 I thought it was a great idea! I wondered if a street rename was in order to further communicate what the street is all about, but felt it was probably too early. We should wait to see how what new special street happens to evolve into!

Now that it’s been a few years, it feels clear to me that we know enough about our special street’s character that we can give it a proper name.

On what other street can you be almost run over by a delivery driver on a scooter going 50mph at minimum 3 times for every 5 blocks? What other street sounds like you’ve stepped completely inside of a 50cc engine that has 200,000 miles on it from 1988 for the entirety of your walk? And what other street can you say “I wish we allowed cars here.”???

I’d like to petition that we rename Berry Street in North Williamsburg to “DoorDash Autobahn”!

I feel it accurately reflects the street’s unique and special character. This one of a kind street needs a one of a kind name!

Around 10:50 this morning, near the Broadway stop on the G train, a woman got on my train car with a man following closely behind her, yelling in her face. She was crying and shaking and sat down next to me. I asked if she knew him, and she said no.
He then sat next to her and continued yelling. Another woman and I moved to the next car with her, but he followed us. We kept moving toward the front of the train, near the conductor, and he continued to follow us.
We eventually got off at Bedford-Nostrand, and thankfully, he stayed on the train. We were all okay, but it was a frightening experience.
I’m sharing this because I want people to be aware and to look out for one another. If you see something like this happening, please check in on the person being targeted if it’s safe to do so. I’m grateful we were able to stick together and get out of the situation safely.
Please stay alert and take care of each other out there.

Who: Everyone is welcome, whether you're a CSA member or just love good bread!

We'll have samples of our handmade sourdough loaves, French baguettes, and focaccia, all baked fresh that day. Everything is free to taste, and we'll also have bread available for purchase if you'd like to take some home.
