If you could only pick one right now, which one would you pick?
I want to get one of these bottles for Thanksgiving, but having a really hard time deciding exactly which one to stand firm on for reasons that vary from bottle to bottle. So I thought I'd get some input from here to see which one you guys think stands on top, all variables considered.
I will more than likely have to pay secondary for whichever one I decide on unfortunately, I've been searching around these bottles for a while now and haven't yet seen one for msrp. Also, the Dettling is just a general single barrel image, I'm not trying to get that exact one just one in general.

I stumbled across some JD bottles from my college years. Talked my friends from 1998 into drinking them with me. Should we be excited or prepared for the worst?
There are two bottles here, one is in an unopened box. I don't want to make us sick. Is this sippin' whiskey, I guess four shots in one night is okay at your age whiskey, or best just look at it and drink something newer whiskey?

Which one do you prefer RR13, ECBP and CELLAR AGED?
A few weeks ago, I asked here how to order Stagg online. Thank to you guys, I was able to order 2 bottles for like 400bucks. Thank you for all your tips.
My wife is going to the States next week, I asked her to bring back Staggs I ordered in advance.(My wifes' sister has been living in the States). But to be honest I feel like RR13 is better. After tasting RR13, I ordered Cellar Aged which is already well known here in Korea. But I should have had CA before tasting RR13. CA is solid enough but RRis is another level I think.
p.s. In Korea I got RR13 for around 300 bucks and CA for about 180 bucks. Obviously RR13 more pricey and way better.

Summary: This bottle is an American Single Malt that has been around for a while. Distilled in Hood River Oregon, it has a mashbill of 100% peated malted barley which was imported from Scotland. The whiskey was aged in barrels made from Oregon oak. I picked this bottle up since I previously enjoyed Westward’s American Single Malt, which is also based in Oregon.
The nose carries a lot of smoke and peat notes, along with a mild sea salt note. There is some earthiness, the terroir of the barley. There is some semi-sweet chocolate and slight fruitiness behind the strong Islay notes.
The palate has a stronger campfire smoke profile, as well as robust peat funk. There is some vanilla sweetness that rounds the profile out. The pepper note adds complexity and punches through the peatiness. There is a nice viscosity and a nice weight to the body.
The finish is more complex than the palate, the smokiness and peatiness aren’t as strong but the pepper punches through more. Finally pick up some tannins in the form of a fresh leather note. There is some mild bitterness from the chocolate, and very mild fruitiness.
This whiskey tastes like a straightforward peated Islay whisky. I personally enjoy the profile of peated Scotch, but I know it’s not many people’s cup of tea. The flavors blend well and the mouthfeel is great. The biggest downside of this whiskey is the profile, it’s not complex and dominated by campfire smoke flavors. Regardless, if you’re a fan peated Scotch I recommend picking up this unique ASM whiskey.

Suntory Pure Malt Whisky aged 8 yrs
Hi all, here's another obscure Suntory whisky I got my hands on lately, and it's their 8 year old 'Pure Malt' whisky!
The "Pure Malt" terminology was often used during the 1980s~2000s in Japanese whiskies, to denote the whisky as either a single malt whisky, or a whisky vatted purely of malt whiskies from different distilleries.
This 8 year old 'pure malt' release belongs to the latter category, vatted entirely with malt whiskies from Suntory's inventory, notably casks from their own Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries!
This specific Suntory Pure Malt whisky was from *1987*, only 3 years after their first single malt whisky, Yamazaki, made its debut. As such, this one was also one of Suntory's earliest releases of one such "Pure Malt" whisky!
So how does it taste? Details in comments!

Whiskey that started to be aged in 2012
I am looking to find out if there is a a way to find a whiskey that was started to be aged in 2012. I wanted to get a “birthday” bottle to give to my son when he turns 21 (or for me to drink to celebrate him). But I’m not sure what options there are. Other than getting a 21 when he hits age

Russels Reserve & Wild Turkey Private Barrel Selections: Similar bottle comparison from a whiskey newbie
Both bottles here come from Tyrone warehouses, 4th floors, and were barreled/bottled at similar times. And I'll say right out the gate that it shows. Both sipped neat; the WT was briefly rested whereas the RR was rested for 15 min. I'll also preface the notes below by saying, especially for the RR: if I myself were to have these described to me before actually trying these bottles I wouldn't have been sold on them. Yet as they are actually tasted they really are quite enjoyable.
On the nose both bottles start with candied brown sugar and fragrant wood prominent. I can not put my finger on the exact wood, but I'm thinking its like an Egyptian Sandalwood(?); I've smelt it before in candles and incense (any time I bring up a wood spice or wood musk they're stemming from this note as two sides of the same coin). Under all that for both there is shadowy note of vanilla. The Wild Turkey gets this subtle bright fruit note at the end, whereas the Russels evolves that wood note into a deeper, sweet earthy note. Surprisingly, I get more ethanol on the WT than the RR.
On the palate, the WT has the wood note come out first, though its closer to oak here, with some musk and very subtle wood spice alongside a little proof spice. Its mid tier mouth feel, not thin but not viscous. Though there is little sweetness at this point, it is surprisingly enjoyable which I've no doubt is helped by the fall weather in my area. Midway the bright fruit comes out with extreme subtlety, reminiscent of green apple without sourness, while the wood goes back to closer to the sandalwood note.
Om the palate the RR starts out with this really nice candied wood with a slight musk taste along with a dash of vanilla - little to no proof coming through here, it drinks well below 110 - and is mouthwateringly sweet, though not overwhelmingly. It is wonderful. The mouthfeel is a bit more viscous than the WT, though that's to be expected. Then the woodspice comes in like with the WT, exceptionally subtle, with a mild nuttiness at the back of the palate.
These are both fantastic finishers. The WT finishes with an oakier wood note under warm brown sugar hanging on the breath, and lasts around 20-30 seconds. The RR hangs on to the woodsy musk note but is just flooded over with a more caramelized brown sugar and slight vanilla note on the breath and this lasts for at least a minute and even longer on bigger sips.
The similar upbringing of these bottles shows, yet the RR comes out way on top here. I have a WT Kentucky Spirit from Nelson that I find more enjoyable than this Private Select, its much brighter overall. However with the greater depth of flavor to the RR, and the added warm-sugar sweetness throughout, it's for sure my favorite of the three. It's a bottle that puts a grin on your face. Does it compare to RR13 45th? Unfortunately no. But it's close. Really close honestly, closer than I thought I'd be. With the difference between the Nelson and Tyron WT, I can't help but wonder if the Nelson RR might come even closer. Both these bottles are fantastic as fall/winter, or maybe late nights outside on the porch or by a fire, pours. Though, I think on warmer spring or summer days Id reach for something a bit brighter.
On my rudimentary scale, the WT gets 6 where the RR gets an 8. And just to add it in, the WT Kentucky Spirit I have got a 6.5 for me. Certainly no bad pours here, but the RR is indeed something a cut above.
Oh and if anyone maybe can give a more exact name to the wood spice/wood musk notes i was getting id appreciate it. I was also maybe thinking along the lines of veviter or patchouli, but off the top of my head Im leaning towards Egyptian Sandalwood. If I could smell the scent again with actual name of the scent i could nail it in a heartbeat.

Blanton’s gold?
Got my Total Wine lottery pick today Blanton’s gold barrel select for $210. The other liquor store by my house has Blanton’s gold for 150 because Total Wine is a barrel select they will not price match the bottle I can get for 150 my question is is there that much of a difference between Blantons gold and the barrel select?
