Thoughts on my whiskey room?
Mostly repurposed used furniture so don't be too harsh. About 40 bottles of whiskey from all over, don't really keep bourbon so mostly Irish & scotch

Hey all.
This is a reminder of our Rule 2 - No trading, buying, or selling alcohol. Comments and posts soliciting alcohol sales and trades will be removed. This goes against the content policy, as well as may break laws within your country of residence.
Lately we have seen an increase in people trying to create or participate in a secondary market - this is against the Content Policy and can very well result in not only a ban from /r/whiskey, but also may see you removed from Reddit permanently by Reddit Admins (should you continue to disregard the Content Policy.)
The simple explanation is this:
Due to regulations and laws concerning Alcohol in many different countries, it may be illegal (simply by law, or taxation law) to trade/barter or resell alcohol products. As Reddit engages communities around the world, facilitating any of these transactions could open Reddit up to various legal consequences. Therefore Reddit must take every available avenue to remove and discourage these transactions within the use of their services.
As a subbreddit dealing with the subject of alcohol products, we are under scrutiny with the actions our communities take, and we must fully participate in Reddit attempt to control and remove content that breeches the Content Policy. If at any point it may appear that we are lacking as a community to stem the flow of this content - simply put; our subreddit will be removed from Reddit.
Please do not be under the impression that any action that you use on Reddit is entirely private - posts, comment, messages and chatroom logs are available to the Reddit admins at anytime and they will investigate any and all leads that suggest people are breaking the Content Policy and in some extreme cases, may take action either legal or federal (and by federal, i mean 'call the cops') depending on their obligations as a business.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
TL:DR - Reddit is not facebook marketplace, you will get banned, you might even get prosecuted.
Edit: I just wanted to add some insight our rule 3. "No requests for dating or valuing an unusual or old bottle of whiskey....", we discourage valuation of whiskey as it has the strong potential to turn into a bidding system, whether public or "private". While we don't suspect every account that seeks valuation to want to participate in a secondary market, the avenue for abuse of these types of posts in regards to our efforts to remove trade/barter or reselling is simple too high to carry the risk of allowing this kind of content within the subbreddit. Since we do not have to tools to monitor "private" messaging or "private chats" of this nature - it would fall to the Admins to investigate these actions and garner an amount of admins attention to our subreddit that we wish to avoid. We're good boys/gals, doing good things... nothing to see here Admins. š¤

First time Iāve seen any of these (let alone all at once) at retail in a grocery store.
Passed on all of them, might go back for the Stagg tomorrow.

Left the US a few months back and only got to bring 4 bottles (Bowman, ECBP, OF SB, and Dickel 15) - but I've been able to snag a good few bottles, including some I've never been able to find in the US. Makers Cellar Aged might be one of my new favo(u)rites!

Haven't had anything other than the 7 year.
Isn't MSRP closer to $150? This is a Total Wine & More "lottery" but they seem to be marking most bottles in this offering up 20-30%..

Ruby copper in the glass, this whisky benefits from aeration ā the aroma and flavor profiles noticeably improved in just a week after the bottle was opened. Initially the aroma profile was subtle and quite earthy ā a bit boring. The flavor profile finished with noticeable oak and wine-like tannin bitterness. Its viscosity/mouthfeel is medium in length with a relatively short 5-6 second finish.
On the second tasting exactly a week later, the aroma profile really blossomed with much stronger Oloroso sherry influences ā dark stewed and dried fruits (raisins, dates, berries), dark chocolate, oak/barrel notes, leather, moderate baking spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, light cloves), and earthy/musty notes reminiscent of walking through a damp forest and into an old attic.
On the palate, the finish still has an oaky bitterness mixed with a note that I donāt enjoy but canāt place exactly what it is ā I wonder if itās something from the interaction of the maple charcoal filtering and the 100% malted barley mash bill. Most of the sip, though, has nice flavors of stewed, spiced fruits, dried fruits, the baking spices from the nose (with punchier cloves), unsweetened dark chocolate/cocoa powder, leather, black pepper, dried ginger, and ground coffee. The flavor profile is significantly more balanced a week after bottle opening ā it is mostly enjoyable, just not as enjoyable as the opened-up aroma profile.
Iām looking forward to seeing how this whisky continues to evolve over time.

I figured something cheap and at least 100 proof would be a good well bottle for these

Iām somewhat new to whisky in general and bourbon particularly. Iāve been trying a lot neat and playing with smoking. Iāve discovered I tend to prefer darker bourbons neat and even before I knew much I enjoyed finished bourbons. This might be a new fave and maybe count as one of the best ones Iāve had so far.

Visited M Whisky Shop/Museum in Ginza this week and tried a flight of Yamazaki 12, Hakushu 12, and Hibiki Blenderās Choice. They also gave me a taste of Suntoryās Chita, since the Hibiki BC is a blend of Yamazaki, Hakushu & Chita whiskies.
My palette preferred the Hibiki BC over the Yamazaki 12. š¤·š¼š„

Iāve been wanting this bottle for a while, as I am a fan of Ben Holliday SRW. This one drinks a little higher than itās proof, but itās extremely good. A lot of cinnamon and a bit of cherry and vanilla on the palate. Solid pour, super stoked to have it in my collection

For years, I'd only see Stagg bottles in neighboring states/markets for secondary prices I wasn't willing to pay until serendipitously running across some unannounced drops of allocated bottles in my home state, which is state-controlled - Managed to grab a few bottles of 26A and, most recently, a bottle of 26C for $64.99 each. I'm really enjoying 26A, especially with a few small drops of water from a pipette.
