Where was he and what was he doing that he doesn’t know where his phone was or who might’ve used it at that time?

That would be my question.

242

u/Far_Huckleberry239 11h ago

I don't know, he said he "just woke up", idk if I believe him though! He does have a little brother who COULD have taken his phone I guess

495

u/Spell_Chicken 11h ago

"Go fart on yourself" DOES seem like a younger sibling's idea of a sick burn.

111

u/mschmeichel 11h ago

This is what I was thinking. Most of these comments haven't seemed to address this very weird opening statement here. Like who says that?? 😂

66

u/cobalt_consciousness 11h ago

little brothers. that's who! lol

25

u/BorgQuingus67 10h ago

One of the very few times that this might be a plausible excuse, I would absolutely believe a little brother would use the phrase "go fart on yourself"

49

u/Static_Frog 11h ago

That was a flag to me in the OG post

14

u/CurrencyIll9145 10h ago

yeah the whole texting style between both interactions doesn't seem like the same person & that is very little brother coded

8

u/Powderkegger1 10h ago

I don’t care, I’m stealing it.

4

u/OnionAccomplished244 11h ago

I'm 43, and it still seems like a sick burn to me! 🤣

As a little (well, younger) brother, "go fart on yourself" definitely something I would have texted if we had had cell phones back then. Heck, I'm 47, I might text it to someone now

10

u/nihilistkitty 11h ago

Im 41 and I'm 100% going to send it to my little brother

13

u/king_hutton 11h ago

I’m stealing my brother’s phone tonight and texting this verbatim to his wife.

6

u/king_hutton 10h ago

I hope my brother is the one who downvoted this.

3

u/youcancallmescott 6h ago

“Go fart on yourself” has been successfully added to the arsenal. Reminds me of calling my older sister a “toilet seat”, to which she would remark that I had cream corn breath.

If I had an older brother or sister that sounds exactly what I would’ve done to mess with them. If he lives with his younger brother I’d believe him and ask the younger brother

21

u/NormalBill76 11h ago

His little brother is dying of laughter in his room right now

This grammar and text style seems VERY different from the previous ones, to be fair. I’d consider a few things as well… does he have any kind or drinking or drug issues? has anything similar ever happened in your relationship with him? Has he been unkind or immature in other ways? Or was this just completely out of character and out of the blue?

All the abbreviations like “wtv” for “whatever” and “js” for “just” seems like Gen Z / alpha texting style

Do you think his little brother would tell you to go fart on yourself?

84

u/OHdulcenea 11h ago

As someone who has a little brother, that actually seems like the most plausible part of the story.

25

u/8696David 11h ago

Yeah for real like that is not how an adult phrases a message intending to hurt someone

20

u/Scary-Link983 11h ago

I have 2 little brothers and yea. That def is something they would find elite comedy.

34

u/Brilliant_Bonus_1638 11h ago

TBH this is exactly some shit my little brother would have texted someone from my phone when I still lived at home.

14

u/Quirky_Jicama_1688 11h ago

Sounds totally plausible to me. Little brothers think farts are funny. Hell...pretty much everyone thinks farts are funny.

i literally saw a post a couple days ago about how a guy left his phone at the bar and someone text his dad he had an std so it’s possible. i can see a little brother saying something involving farting lol

19

u/ComfortableGround403 11h ago

The go fart on yourself and the terrible spelling kinda leads me to believe it was his little brother lol

8

u/Boo-Radleys-Scissors 11h ago

"Go fart on yourself" does have the ring of something a little brother would say.

15

u/NormalGuyPosts 11h ago

It's conceivable, but I'd need the brother to confess.

For the record, someone really did once use take my social media and insult a girl I had a crush on, and I had to put him on speaker to clear my name.

This was more common in the "Changing Your Facebook Status" era of 2008-2011, but the old ways endure

5

u/Slow-Engine3648 11h ago

Really? You might be a little too guarded. If someone I know texts me something wildly out of character once. Andis very apologetic, not sure how it happened and things someone else might have done it, I'm giving the benefit of the doubt no question

4

u/Background_Visual315 11h ago

And something similar to this happened to me like 20 years ago, a “friend” made an account under my name, face, and info threatened a bunch of people close to me. And even when it came out that it wasn’t me and he confessed. People kept hanging out with him, but I was ostracized.

I don't understand why op's comment would be downvoted

like please someone please just be honest and explain cuz why

4

u/KittyyyMeowww 11h ago

You'll be happy to know it is no longer downvoted. As for an explanation? It's Reddit – people are weird in general, but even more so when interacting online. Given the anonymity, you'll find the most ridiculous and extreme illustration of human behavior on Reddit. Downvotes are the most mild example; people say wild shit when they can remain anonymous and face zero repercussions.

13

u/EntertheHellscape 11h ago

I think a plausible response from you to him would be something like, "ok you need to figure out where your phone was and who sent them at 5am cause right now the last text I have from you is to break up, so that's what I'm working with rn".

Like, light a fire under his ass cause if someone did steal his phone to text you rude shit, they need to be found and consequences made. Especially if it's a little brother, that behavior is not ok and needs to be nipped in the bud. And it's your boyfriend's job to figure this out and deal with it. Can't even lock his phone correctly smh.

3

u/jimmy_three_shoes 9h ago

That seems unnecessarily aggressive. OP should just be honest and say the messages freaked her out, and see how he replies. Give him a chance to do the right thing before you start demanding action.

5

u/Slow-Engine3648 11h ago

Ok little brother is definitely the answer "go far on yourself" is definitely little brother trying to get big brother in trouble talk

4

u/king_hutton 11h ago

As soon as I read the exchange my first thought was “this is a little brother being a little shit.”

Sincerely,
A little brother and little shit

i mean, why not say "my brother must've stolen my phone", why is it "someone"? i think something is fishy regarding the legitness of OP's posts

14

u/bbg_bbg 11h ago

Most logical explanation I could think of for him saying “someone” instead of brother or sister is if he has a lot of siblings. I knew a family of 6 siblings growing up and could see every single one of them doing something like this to one of their siblings.

8

u/Feeling-Response8810 11h ago

right like was he asleep on the couch or what? his brother just came into his room at 6am & decided oh i'll stur up some shit lol. Not saying that's not possible just kinda weird

3

It is so physically painful to see everyone fall for these fake texts. iPhone messages bubbles are not flat like that, they are fully rounded. Not only that the font is not correct and the padding around the messages is too large. This is a fabricated story. Please do not waste your time.

Also for those in the replies. Yes she has an iPhone, if you look at the message he sent, the emoji is only present on iPhones. Im kinda of shocked I have to explain that. But android users who are not familiar with iPhone layout here are some pictures. Messenger photos as well because people did point that out.

iPhone messages

Messenger

They made the first post 6 hours ago and the screenshot they provided says 5:52 am. They made their second post 4 hours ago saying “he replied what’s should I say” with the screenshot saying 10:36 am. Thats a 4 hour 16 minute difference but the post are only 2 hours apart. Regardless of everything it’s fake.

Edit2:

I don’t know why a lot of people are taking this a person attack on androids 😭

Im not saying android doesn’t have those emojis I’m saying they look different! Same emoji different font!

It’s iPhone because the emoji appeared as the iPhone styled emphasis on styled emoji on their screen.

Though again, I only made this to provide some insight and so that people wouldn’t waste their time on fake post. But a lot of people are very adamant about believing it, so really there’s not much I can do, but I hope this at least helps some.

Emoji

Last edit:

People have argued with me that how would I know it’s iPhone. So I stated that in the photo the user posted they used iPhone emojis, but I guess a lot of people interpreted it as “My android has those emojis so your wrong, those emojis are not exclusive to iPhone” but I meant we do have the same emojis but they look different on iPhone. They are in different styles. Kind of like words, yes it’s the same word but it’s in a different font! For example Kind of like Samsung and Apple! Samsung has fonts that I cannot use on apple. Yes both of them are able to type the same words but they will look different I’m not saying you can’t type that word or don’t have that word because we don’t have the same font. It just looks different hun 😩

This is likely a karma bot I agree, but who cares anymore....Millenials wrote fanfics and bullshit short stories for fun (at least my friends did), brain rot AI and doomscrolling is destroying youngins attention span and creativity.

5AM text. If you are TRULY angry at somebody, "fart on yourself, lol," is about the last thing a real person would say. It's sillier than it is mean.

That, plus who sends that in their right mind AT 5AM?

This is either him telling the truth that somebody pranked him, or he sent it in his sleep, like sleepwalking but texting instead, or he was wildly drunk or high and had no idea what was going on.

The people saying break up, FFS I hope you make the tiniest mistake and whoever you’re with leaves your ass. This whole post is a nothing burger.

7

u/Icy-polarbear 10h ago

Very dark aspect of reddit tbh. People post something about a loved one making a single honest mistake and the comments are flooded with “no contact immediately they’re a terrible person” or “break up and block them they clearly don’t love you”. Mistakes are part of being human and sometimes people simply perceive intentions the wrong way. I wonder how many happy and loving relationships, romantic and otherwise, have been broken up because they got nonsense advice about a misunderstanding from strangers on the internet

Yea literally, sometimes people get drunk and are like “lmao my partner would think it’s hilarious if

I’m going to agree either way the theory that he “sleep texted” you. Most likely he had a vivid dream, woke from it, texted you and doesn’t remember.

I have had full on conversations with my gf when she “woke up” during the night or early morning, that she has no memory of later when she fully wakes up

me: Lol what... I don't
me: Idk what you're talking about
me: Like it's 5 AM and you're texting me this

Don't just dive into breaking up with him. Reddit lives for drama and thrives on breaking up couples that just need to communicate.

Sleep texting is absolutely a thing. Also, if he took any meds, or a heavy dose of melatonin he could have been part way between awake and asleep. He absolutely didnt sound like he was fully coherent in his first messages.

The obvious thing should be either to call, or go see him. Talk with words, not text.

→ More replies (3)

3

u/laurarobert1 11h ago

I think maybe that's true. Maybe a friend took his phone while they both were super drunk and thought it would be funny to write those things. If he's never talked to you this way in the past, I would let it go.

3

u/Boterfleoge 11h ago

I agree. The texts he sent are completely harmless unless there is a history of him being a jerk. It would be hilarious if he texted it in his sleep or something. Obvs, keep this in your pocket OP, and if more stuff like this happens then maybe reevaluate but as a one off, i think "go farther on yourself" is a very fun insult that i plan on using as often as possible.

4

u/Even_Budget2078 11h ago

Same advice as before, OP, just stand still. Stay silent. Let him continue to explain, show up at your house, ask to speak in person, whatever. So far, he's given an explanation that is pretty insufficient (though possibly true). IF he did not send these and someone stole his phone, it's important that you recognize that has no right to get mad at YOU for not believing him immediately. IF that really happened, then he should completely understand you being wary and not immediately believing him.

Important life skill is letting silence just be, let it be uncomfortable, let it just sit there. If he's genuinely horrified by these messages, he'll explain more or attempt to figure out what happened and give you more information to decide if you believe him.

Again, he may be telling the truth. That doesn't mean you have to just immediately go "oh ok!" to his messages.

Do NOT respond. He'll keep texting.

u/Sunnyday1775 11h ago

You know you guys could just call each other and see what happened.

Communication is really dead these days

Another woman had his phone and texted you while he was sleeping.

16

u/Qu0dEratDemonstrandm 11h ago

Yup.

Someone broke into his apartment, stole his phone while he was sleeping, knew the code to unlock it, texted you, and then returned the phone.

Seems reasonable. Happens all the time to me.

u/Slow-Magician-8449 11h ago

You know many people have family members and siblings they live with who pull stuff like this all the time

Dude that's so weird... how'd his phone get stolen at 5 am and then he text back??

11

u/AustinWalksOnRocks 11h ago

But the texts weren’t like that imo. Telling your gf to just go fart on herself seems like he was fucked up or out of it in general. My wife takes ambien and makes me laugh all the time. Then has no idea in the morning

6

u/Often_Forgotten2 11h ago

Or like something a 12 year old brother would text

3

u/Strong_Band906 11h ago

does he take ambien or sleep meds? Ive fully sent things while half asleep.

3

u/superfuzzbros 11h ago

Does he have any younger siblings, cousins, or nieces/nephews? Does he live with them? If he does or if he was spending the day with them, I would believe him or at least hear him out.

You can schedule text messages on both iPhone and Android so it’s entirely possible that a younger family member had scheduled those messages at 5am to mess with him and you.

3

u/Sour_Grapefruit_669 11h ago

"I'm so confused someone must've stole my phone" "I just woke up" 😭😭 Lmao WHAT?

3

u/hoespringa 11h ago

It's bizarre both before and after. Does he live alone? Who would have stolen his phone, texted you those things, then gave him back his phone?

3

u/ghotistyx8 11h ago

It does sound like some weird ass drunk/high/Ambien texting. If he's not usually an asshole, I would give him the benefit of the doubt at least once. Better if he can explain what planet his head was on at the time. Maybe he's a sleep-walker 🤷🏻‍♀️

3

u/MongolianArmadillo 11h ago

As many said before, sleep texting/meds? Ask if he took ambien or anything like that

3

u/GuyInPurchasing 11h ago

Direct him to this reddit thread and he shall pay his penance.

3

u/HisPrincess0104 11h ago

Coming from someone who has been experiencing my own bizarre situations lately, I believe him. I am a woman in my 30s. I recently started having seizures in my sleep and sometimes I am able to function but I am in pain, others I immediately get up and move around. BUT NOONE IS HOME UPSTAIRS(if you catch what I am meaning)! I locked myself out of my phone for hours from punching in the wrong code into my phone while in a fugue state.

3

u/Dopple_A_Fox 11h ago

lol! I literally said he got his phone taken by one of his friends!

3

u/MetLyfe 11h ago

Tell him to go fart on himself

3

u/Serious-Stock-9599 11h ago

You are going to need a bigger tractor for all of this karma farming.

3

u/Umaritimus 11h ago

Ngl those texts from before 100% look like something a younger sibling would send

3

u/PurpleWave1915 11h ago

I def did this to my older brother when i was 8

3

u/fit-profile-69 11h ago

wtf lol. Either he’s doing some weird shit and putting himself in a place where someone “steals his phone” at 5 am and sends this innocent yet unhinged texts,

OR

he’s making shit up to cover up something he’s doing. (Drinking; drugs)

OR!!!!’

He woke up and half asleep texted you some absolutely weird shit and doesn’t recall

3

u/shitsu13master 11h ago

Well if he was at a party this could be within the realms of something idiot guys would drunkenly do with a friend’s phone

Is this a follow-up to the post where the BF texted "I know what you did don't contact me again" at 5AM? 'Cuz if so, as much as his apology seems very suspicious, it's not like the texts were super specific either, meaning that anyone could've in fact sent those had they gotten a hold of his unlocked phone.

I'm not telling you to take him at his word, but it's worth asking him to explain in great detail what he was doing last night at least imo.

3

u/ParticularSpring3628 11h ago

Does he usually say something like go fart on yourself? Is that something a little sibling would say or nonsensical totally? He may have just been very drunk

3

u/Dear_Bat_8353 11h ago

I do not know if I buy it. "someone"?? How would you not know who? Does he make a habit of not locking his phone? Does he live with roommates or siblings?

Sounds like bro was wasted and doesn't want to admit it... Which is a huge red flag.

5

u/Hayek_School 11h ago

You read her two posts, saw the poor guy panic, and thought red flag? Interesting.

i mean, he does seem like he either typed those things while sleeping and doesnt remember or his friends played a drunken prank on him, id give him the benefit of the doubt this once tbh

Scenario One: Ninjas from dimension X broke into his house, grabbed his phone, and rando texted you overnight.

Scenario Two: He sleep texted you somehow.

Scenario Three: He texted the wrong girl.

I suppose it could be the first option...

3

u/crunchyscrunchymom 11h ago

I think option 4. He was hammered and doesn’t remember it.

Bro was drunk and at a party or something

2

u/Kacer6 11h ago

If he was passed out on the couch might one of his friends have texted that stuff as a prank? I know some guys who would do that. Were the initial texts the way he texts?

2

u/Slow-Magician-8449 11h ago

Just ask him how it happened, it’s ether he was way to drunk and forgot he text you, or a friend or siblings of his is pulling a prank

2

u/PierreOnTheEclair 11h ago

Help I thought he was drunk 💔

2

u/Prior-Pop-4683 11h ago

I just read your last post and those texts genuinely sound like they’re from a child.

2

u/Difficult-Amount988 11h ago edited 11h ago

I had a friend lift my MySpace password (dating myself) after I logged in on his computer. He sent a pretty nasty message to my girlfriend who was spending a month in another country. She understandably went silent and eventually broke up with me. I didn’t realize what had happened for a month, I checked my outgoing messages when another friend had something similar happen.

Could this be the case? Maybe, maybe not, if you do believe him he shouldn’t hang out with the person or group that did this anymore. It’s childish behavior at best.

Myself and the other guy this happened to have a family and have done well for ourselves. The “friend” that did this was a construction laborer living with his mom last I checked. Show me your friends and I’ll show you who you are and where you are going.

Edit: looking at other posts you mention he has a little brother. As the oldest of 3 brothers telling someone to “fart on themselves” sounds like little brother behavior. Are you in the same time zone as him currently?

2

u/vecchio_anima 11h ago

Ask what fucking drugs he took

2

u/Big-Tenders 11h ago

Seems like a conversation that should be had in person

2

u/Toaster_Planet 11h ago

The only obvious response is:

Nah, go fart on yourself dude. You know what you did. We're done, don't text me again.

2

u/flaming_pubes 11h ago

My god whatever you do stop taking advice from everyone here including me if you want. Just communicate with him. You said he has a little brother, maybe he did this to be funny, maybe he sleep texted from having a vivid dream. If you have no reasons to have trust issues with this guy and he is genuinely confused as much as you then why doubt him? If this was mixed in with some other similar red flags then so be it but my god everyone on here just jumping to drug issues and he’s cheating on you.

2

u/Confident_Cycle_1903 11h ago

Well these texts are not the same as the last ones, he's not using "u" intead of "you" so he was either super drunk or someone else wrote them. But even if it was just him drunk... "go fart on yourself" lmao that's so funny, it's not even insulting, It's a redflag you should take into consideration but i don't think it's break up worthy

2

u/NotTonic 11h ago

The last post is so weird I would have assumed sleep texting. That would be the only thing that makes sense to me. I've had full conversations with people while still sleeping and then waking up to think it was all a dream. He could be scrambling for any reason and thats why he thought someone took his phone, which makes absolutely zero sense. Either that or he was drunk and doesnt remember. I just dont see a sober or fully aware person texting their partner to go fart on themselves randomly at 5am and then break up with them without explanation lol

2

u/StrangerThaangs 11h ago

The last convo was so weird. It probably was an accident for a joke

2

u/usmilman06 11h ago

I would definitely test him to make sure that he wasn't lying to you. Maybe it was a family member or a friend of his that did that. He needs to be totally honest with you about it.

2

u/Away_Week532 11h ago

Just curious is there any little brothers in the mix👀 I mean who else says “go fart on yourself”😅 referring from previous post

2

u/ghostface218 11h ago

I don't think he sent those texts

2

u/MYstEryyY__ 11h ago

i'd defo question him about what he couldve possibly be doing last night for this mysterious "someone" to take his phone & message non sense
