Classes 2026-2027 Scheduling Megathread

Hey everyone! Summer time and early fall means everyone is thinking about their next semester’s course schedule, especially incoming first years! It’s an exciting time planning out the interesting courses you get to take, and lots of people like to ask for advice on this sub.

We’re lucky to have lots of experienced alums, current students, and professors active here who know the courses well as well as schedules that keep you on track, stimulate your intellect, save some time for ECs, and don’t burn you out!

Please, post your draft schedules and questions in this megathread just to consolidate these types of posts in one place to keep the sub more easily scrollable. Thanks!!

Classes Has anyone taken Stats 3020 with Takeishi? /have opinions

I'm planning on taking SDS 3020 next semester and deciding between Takeishi and Katsianos. Katsianos has some pretty bad rate my prof reviews, but Takeishi's brand new so he doesn't have any reviews yet. Does anyone have advice/experience to choose between the two?

Housing Subleasing Studio on WashU Med Campus - Winter/Spring 2027

Hello all,

I'm looking to sublease my apartment for this upcoming winter and early spring. It's located within Central West End, ~5-10 minute walk to WashU Med and hospital system. It will be available mid December through early March, and I'm flexible on dates within that timeframe. Utilities, wifi, and parking would come included.

Send me a message if you're interested, and I can provide photos, address, and discuss pricing!

Classes Is KOREA 2018 hard?

Hi! I took the placement exam for Korean and got placed into KOREA 2018, which is the second level. I was wondering how difficult the class is with tests, homework load, and how hard the teacher grades.

I took all science classes at washu but no professors really know me and it’s been so long. R there any profs who wld write LOR for students if i give a resume and updates?

Discussion Question for transfer students:

Hi! I’m a sophomore transfer student at WashU and I had a question about graded transfer credit I was hoping you guys could answer. I transferred 32 credits to WashU from my previous institution, and I know that they count towards my 120 credit requirement for graduation, but that they are not considered to be “graded” courses. WashU requires a minimum of 96 graded credit hours in ArtSci to graduate, but there must surely be an adjustment to that for transfer students? Does someone who transfers to WashU their junior year have to take 96 graded credit hours?
My workday tells me I have the 96 graded credit hour requirement, and my advisor has no idea if that’s right or not. Could anyone shed some light on this 🙏🙏

Classes Comparative Literature Major

I'm taking a comp lit class right now and honestly loving it, so I'm thinking about majoring in it. For anyone in the department: how's the workload? How are the language requirements and professors?

Admissions inquiries as an aspiring premed

hello everyone! i'm a senior in high school and have been looking into washu for premed. i had a college visit to my hs and i heard a lot of great things about this college (also that the dorms are ranked #1 lol which is awesome).

my ultimate goal is to go to med school so having a high gpa is important. ive heard premed at washu to be pretty difficult. what do you guys think? are the classes necessarily "deflated" or do they just require a lot of studying? also are office hours available frequently?

outside of academics, my other concern is the location. ive grown up in socal all my life so i'm not quite familiar with missouri. what are some fun activities i could do in the area? what do you think about st louis overall?

if you have any other advice or information you would like me to know, please feel free to do so! i'd love to hear more about the school overall. thank you!

Classes gen chem 1602 or 1702?

I'm currently in chem 1601, and I don't know if I should take chem 1602 or 1702 in the spring. I heard from someone that the content for the two classes in second semester is the same, but 1702 has a curve, which would help. Is this true? Which one should I take, and how do the two classes differ in second semester?

Admissions High schooler hoping to attend Olin, any undergrads be open to answering a few questions about your HS stats/ECUs?

Hello!
I am a high school student and WashU is my dream school. I’m aiming to apply to Olin Business School for my undergraduate degree.
I’d love to connect with a few current or old Olin BSBA students to ask about your high school background (extracurriculars, academics, how you tailored your application, or what you feel made a difference).
If you have 5–10 minutes and wouldn't mind sharing your experience through DMs I ’d be super grateful!
Thanks so much in advance!

Admissions Senior Year Quarter Grades

edit: emailed--theyre not required

are they required for ED1? The database my college counselor says they are, but it hasn't been updated since 2021. I've always been straight-A but i have a b+ in honors english and a b- in calc b-c so its not ideal

Classes ESE 3260 Teacher

I saw this had different teachers in the past, but for this fall and this spring, it appears to have Zhang, Jinsong, who has a 2/5 ratemyprofessor and the general consensus seems to be that it's horrible. Could anyone say how it is in that class, and should I delay it to sophomore year to see if a new professor comes?

Housing Thoughts on Rosedale Court Apartment

To anyone who has lived in Rosedale Court Apartments before, what did y'all think about the place? I saw somewhere that it's a bit older than other off-campus WashU housing, but is it still well-maintained? How were the other amenities, like laundry, printers, etc.?

Also, do y'all have any photos of the place? I've been searching online, but I can't seem to find any photos of Rosedale.
