Announcement Early voting in Texas starts today. Make a plan and go out and vote!
Early voting in Texas for the 2026 Midterms begins today, Monday, October 19, and runs through Friday, October 30. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
Whether you're attending classes in Edinburg, Brownsville, or commuting from somewhere else in the RGV, here's what you need to know about voting:
First off, can you vote on campus? Yes, you can vote on campus. UTRGV will have early voting locations in both the Edinburg and Brownsville campuses.
We invite you to visit a polling location between classes or before/after classes and cast your vote in the following locations:
UTRGV Edinburg Campus: Hidalgo County
Location: Student Academic Center (ESTAC), Lobby 1.100
Early voting hours:
- October 19–24: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
- Sunday, October 25: 10:00 AM–4:00 PM
- October 26–30: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
Election Day (November 3): 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
UTRGV Brownsville Campus: Cameron County
Location: Student Union (BSTUN), 650 Ringgold Road
Please check the campus voting page for any last-minute location updates.
Early voting hours:
- October 19–23: 9:00 AM-7:00 PM
- October 24–25: 10:00 AM-5:00 PM
- October 26–30: 8:00 AM-8:00 PM
Election Day (November 3): 7:00 AM-7:00 PM at BMAIN 2.402 (Salon Cassia).
UTRGV also lists an Election Day polling locaiton at its Harlingen campus, in the Clinical Education Building (HCEBL 1.100).
Official campus locations and hours: https://www.utrgv.edu/vaqueros-vote/
Find a polling location in your county.
You don't have to vote on campus. During early voting, you can vote at any designated early voting location in the county where you're registered.
Here are the election offices serving the four counties:
Hidalgo County: https://www.hidalgocounty.us/3500/November-3-2026-General-Elections
Phone: (956) 318-2570
Cameron County: https://www.cameroncountytx.gov/elections/
Phone: (956) 544-0809
Starr County: https://www.co.starr.tx.us/
Phone: (956) 716-4843
Willacy County: https://www.co.willacy.tx.us/
Phone: (956) 689-2387
Check your county's official website for locations, hours, and sample ballots.
Before heading to the polls:
1. Check your voter registration.
The State of Texas has recently had issues when it comes to voter registrations being randomly suspended or delayed. To make sure that your registration is up to date, we invite you to check: https://teamrvmvp.sos.texas.gov/MVP/mvp.do
The registration deadline for this election was October 5, 2026. If you registered before the deadline but aren't sure about your status, verify it in the website above.
2. Bring an acceptable form of identification.
A Texas driver's license, ID card, or U.S. passport are among the accepted forms of photo ID.
If you don't have an acceptable photo ID and cannot reasonably obtain one, Texas has alternative ID'ing procedures. See here: https://www.votetexas.gov/voting/need-id.html
3. Make sure you're voting in the correct county.
Attending UTRGV doesn't automatically mean you're registered in Hidalgo or Cameron County. Your voting location depends on where you're registered, not where you attend classes.
4. Look up your sample ballot.
The November 3 election includes races for Texas Governor, U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, the Texas Legislature, and various judicial and local offices. Your specific ballot depends on your registered voting address.
5. Voting by mail? The deadline for election officials to receive applications for a ballot by mail is Friday, October 23. Texas has eligibility requirements for voting by mail.
More information: https://www.votetexas.gov/
A reminder:
Whether you're voting for the first time or have voted in previous elections, take some time to review what's on your ballot and familiarize yourself with the process.
You don't need to wait until November 3rd. Early voting gives you multiple days to find a time that works around classes, work, and commuting, and you get to skip a long line!
This post is nonpartisan. We're sharing voting resources for UTRGV students, staff, and community members, regardless of political party or candidate preference.
If you have questions, comments, or concerns regarding voting locations, voter ID, registration, or the voting process, feel free to ask below. Please use official election resources when answering questions involving voting requirements.
Also, ballot box information and locations can change at the last minute; consult with the counties' voting dept. website for up-to-date information.
Early voting: October 19–30. Election Day: November 3.

UT Austin student thinking of moving back home
Hi guys, I’m currently a freshman at UT Austin. I graduated top 5% of my high school class this may and got auto admit for UT Austin.
My goal has been to go into finance. I got auto admit into UT Austin but didn’t get into their business school. My parents and I agreed I’d take the year and try to transfer into mccombs, if not I could just come home and finish at UTRGV with the degree I want. Right now, I am in the college of liberal arts taking macroeconomics and calc 1 as the prereqs for McCombs (their business school). I’ve been able to keep my grades up for most of my classes but have been averaging Bs in the prereqs. McCombs is very competitive and I know I might not make it. So I’m thinking of coming back home and pursuing a finance degree here.
I know you can’t compare the prestige and ranking of UT Austin vs. UTRGV but that’s not to say UTRGV isn’t a reputable school.
I was wondering if anyone has graduated from UTRGV with a finance (or other BBA) and still found “success” post grad or even with internships and stuff like that.

Help looking for wallet
Has anyone seen my wallet? I seem to have lost it and I'm not sure if I dropped it around the campus or not. If I did drop it, it would've been in the northern half of the university in Edinburg
FOUND!! Thanks to the UTRGV Police Lost and Found!
Integrative Physiology
Has anyone taken BIOL 3325 Integrative Physiology with Jorge Trujillo? How hard are the exams, how is the class overall? I am wondering if I should take him and this course… this would be so much help

Discussion Stray Animals in the Rio Grande Valley
docs.google.comUPDATE
This survey is now closed. Thanks to everyone who helped!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Howdy everyone! I’m a college student working on a research project about stray animals here in the Valley. Here's a short survey about how often people see strays, their experiences with them, and what solutions they think would help.
It takes about 5 minutes, it’s completely anonymous, and you don’t need to sign in or give an email. You can skip any question.

Question UTRGV Graduate Admissions Unable to Reach Anyone
Hi everyone,
I’m currently applying to graduate school at UTRGV, and I’m honestly getting stressed because the application deadline is this Wednesday.
All of my application documents have been submitted except for my official transcript from UT Austin. UT Austin’s registrar’s office confirmed that the transcript was sent out 10 days ago, so I would expect UTRGV to have received it by now. However, my application portal still shows that the transcript hasn’t been received.
The biggest issue is that I haven’t been able to get in contact with anyone who can help me resolve this.
I’ve been calling Graduate Recruitment at 1-833-887-4842 for the past three weeks. Every time I call, the line is busy, so I leave a voicemail, but no one has called me back. I’ve also emailed gradrecruitment@utrgv.edu and tried texting the number they provide. Occasionally, someone responds to my text, but I still haven’t been able to get this issue resolved.
With the deadline coming up on Wednesday, I’m worried that my application will be considered incomplete because of a transcript that was already sent by my previous university.
Has anyone else experienced something similar with UTRGV Graduate Admissions? Is there another department, email address, or person I can contact directly to verify that my transcript has arrived and make sure my application isn’t negatively affected by this delay?
I would really appreciate any advice or help. I’ve done everything I can on my end, and I don’t want to miss the deadline because I can’t get anyone to respond.
Thank you!
