ever since i was teenaged, the included 9 have shaped how i feel about the art of music & creative expression.
1993-95 i wanted to make artsy & introspective raps like the ones heard in the first 2 albums. the remaining 7 LPs were mirrors for what was inside me, emotional states i wasnt yet able to articulate. I see my tastes as a mix of the rap, the beats, the textures, the tones, the sung poetry, the techno, the energy of all combined.
stuff that didnt make the cut:
sterolab, emperor tomato ketchup
little brother, the listening
del, no need for alarm
uli troyer, nok
actress, karma & desire
daft punk, homework
basement jaxx, remedy
*️⃣NONE OF THE 12"s, great songs on mid albums, classic club traxx, genius remixes/edits/blends/mashups unauthorized mixtapes, the dj/producer longform mixes that have influenced me in the 21st century are listed here. i dont believe the 'album' is irrelevant as a medium, but full-length albums have rarely been at the center of my musical world for over 20 years.
