This is a repost but I thought it's worth sharing to the bigger community. I went to the bike lane protests on Bloor today and it was great! Very chill time and people were very nice. About 15 -20 people were there during the day which was a great turnout. The lane removals have been a massive waste of money and we should all be mad about this.

Discussion Anyone Else Have Campaign Teams Do This?

So this morning I came out my front door this morning and noticed a Brad Bradford flyer in our mailbox. Then, I realize there's also a flyer on the windshields of each car in the driveway! Pretty sure it's illegal to touch people's cars on their private property, even during a political campaign.

Discussion Pearson airport - terminal Link train FYI

Hey all,

As you guys may know, they did maintenance on the Pearson Terminal Link train last week and did partial closures for the whole week.

The train still isn't fixed. It's significantly slower going between the stops, so ensure you leave yourselves extra time when traveling between them.

Discussion “How do bike lanes save lives?”

I was in a place yesterday where CP24 was playing, and after a segment aired on the Bloor West bike lane removal and protest, a worker turned to her colleague and asked – seemingly in disbelief – “How do bike lanes save lives?” She really did not seem to understand.

I made eye contact and calmly explained to her that bike lanes keep cars away from cyclists, and without them, cyclists have to share lanes with cars, and that’s how cyclists get injured or killed.

She seemed to think about it for a second and slightly nodded in acknowledgement, like what I said made at least a little sense.

This is the mentality that Toronto cyclists are up against. It’s not necessarily a malicious hatred of cyclists (though there is plenty of that), but just plain ignorance and lack of empathy for anyone in a different situation, plus a lack of curiosity about city issues and their root causes.

I was glad to have made a connection for at least one person, who hopefully shares what she learned with her family, friends, and co-workers.

Just wanted to share and extend my gratitude to all involved who brought this place into existence. The view of the skyline from the new boardwalk at sunset is always breathtaking.

As a downtown eastside resident, it has given me new motivation to get outdoors on days I'd rather park myself on the couch.

How lucky we are to live here!

Discussion Thank you, Toronto…

…for an absolutely unforgettable time. We visited last month for a week and I remember every single day of that trip like it was yesterday. Your city is so rich in culture with so many things to do. We spent a lot of time walking, experiencing different neighborhoods, took an overnight visit down to Niagara, caught Australian Pink Floyd at the Danforth Music Hall, went to the Lantern Festival in Downsview Park, caught the dahlia flower show at your botanical garden, we did some light shopping, and ate fantastic food all week long.

As a large urban center, I realize there are also struggles there, but the vibe we felt was welcoming. Despite hailing from the states (please don’t judge us), my wife and I are the friendly type and every single person we came across was approachable, helpful, and conversational. A week isn’t nearly enough time to take in all your city has to offer, but we crammed an awful lot into seven days. Driving was a bit of a different experience for me, but I got the hang of your massive highways after a couple of days. I’m so conditioned to the “me first” mentality of driving in the states - it was refreshing to see everyone’s patience, and that zipper merges are accepted as the norm (this was our experience, anyway).

So thank you again for being such cordial hosts. There doesn’t seem to be a specific flair for this kind of post, so I went with Discussion. We’re hoping we can visit again sometime~ ✌🏻
