The country was triangular and despite its size it was pretty small, it had a population similar to Luxembourg of around 400-500k people only.

Ethnically 90% of Laochuans were East Asian but there were small enclaves of white and black people and other ethnicities.

The politics of Laochu could be described as like a 'Diet North Korea' - it was a communist dictatorship in theory but the dictator was super chill and the rules weren't enforced like crazy, he was more like "Please guys lets do communism I promise it'll work" but most people ignored him. The country was still rather poor and most people were agricultural or manual laborers.

You could leave the country, but only if you applied like half a year in advance for permission, had a background check and promised to return to Laochu after a few months. But you could go abroad for really any reason eg a Holiday, you just had to follow the rules. The main reason the dictator didn't want people going abroad was cuz he didnt want them to get jealous of other more prosperous countries and then feel sad and develop depression. 

Laochu had internet access, but only could access websites from countries in a 1000-mile radius from itself. So Korean, Chinese and Japanese internet was totally fine. You couldn't access any western internet page without a VPN. 

Because of this kind of internet bubble, Laochu was completely obsessed with Kpop and Korean groups frequently travelled to perform in Laochu. However selling any kind of physical Kpop merchandise in Laochu was completely forbidden. 

Also weirdly a large population of Laochu was jewish, it was the one of the most dominant religions there and there were a lot of synagogues in all the cities.

In the dream, my irl friend (who is literally malay-chinese) was actually Laochuan and he took me on holiday to Laochu to tour me around and explain their culture.

Why they chose to label it a dwarf planet and not an asteroid is beyond me (it was also cube-shaped and oddly metallic)
