General wifi gaya toh hotspot chala lo is such a normal indian sentence that i never realised it’s basically an infrastructure story lol

wifi dies at home and nobody even panics anymore

phone uthao

Jio 5G hotspot on

laptop connect

continue whatever you were doing 😭

i always thought this was just normal backup behaviour until i saw that only around 1 in 5 indian homes actually has fixed broadband.

then it kinda makes sense why mobile internet became so important here.

getting fibre to a whole city is one thing. getting that fibre inside every gali, building, society, floor and house is another headache entirely.

digging

permissions

society wale uncle

installer timing

random last mile issues

meanwhile mobile network is already there.

and honestly Jio making 5G this cheap/fast basically means your “backup internet” is sometimes faster than the wifi you're backing up 😭

Akash was talking about home broadband again during all the IPO stuff and now i get why JioFiber + AirFiber are such a big part of the next phase.

India kinda skipped straight into “mobile-first everything”.

when your wifi dies do you actually wait for it anymore or just hotspot and forget?

No Flair Vivo V20 (4G) to OnePlus Nord 6

Post image

Got this phone for ₹42,500 from an offline store after looking at multiple options, and finally pulled the trigger. It’s been a week so far, and the phone has been super smooth. The camera is decent, and the processor is pretty good too.

The only thing that’s been a little underwhelming is the battery. Honestly, it doesn’t feel like a 9000mAh battery in terms of SOT.

What settings or changes would you recommend to optimise the battery and get better SOT? Also, any other tips or advice for a new user would be appreciated.

You can ask about any questions regarding nord 6

Networking/Telecom we really went from treating 1GB like emergency rations to casually burning 40GB+ a month

Post image

all this Jio IPO noise made me go back and look at the 2016 launch stuff and ngl i had genuinely forgotten how insane mobile data used to feel 😭

1GB wasn't data. it was a monthly budget.

you'd switch mobile data off after replying on whatsapp, youtube automatically meant 360p and god forbid someone sent a video in the family group.

around that time mobile data in india was being quoted at ₹200-ish per GB depending on the operator/plan.

now Jio says the average person on its network uses 43.7GB every month.

forty three 😭

that's like 1.4GB every single day and nobody even thinks about it anymore.

whatever else people argue about Jio, the cheap-data era genuinely changed how normal indians used the internet. youtube classes, UPI, reels, gaming, video calls, hotspotting a laptop because wifi died... all of this became weirdly normal in less than a decade.

and now with the Jio IPO coming up everyone is talking about the company again, but honestly this old consumer-side transformation is way more interesting to me than the stock discussion.

Wanted to upgrade my phone and disappointed with S26 ultra

I wanted to change my phone and go for a samsung flagship. I'm currently using a one plus nord 4.

I went to a store and tried out the S26 ultra. It's so underwhelming. The in-hand feel is not premium at all. The S24 ultra has such a unique design and felt so premium.

On top of that the cameras are okayish ,not really good and there is a shutter delay.

I've always been an android person and just when I wanted to take an android flagship samsung decided to drop the ball. I wish I took the S24 ultra when it was released lol.

I tried my friends iphone 16 pro max and the in-hand feel and cameras felt so premium compared to S26 ultra.

I always used to troll iphones but this experience humbled me

No Flair Suggest a good all-rounder phone under ₹26K for my little brother

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I want to buy a phone for my little brother, with a budget of ₹26,000.

His main usage will be BGMI for around 2–3 hours daily (mostly on Smooth graphics) and social media. No heavy editing or anything like that.

I was considering the Samsung Galaxy A36 5G and OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite, but I've seen Reddit posts complaining about the OnePlus heating up badly during gaming and having a disappointing camera.

My priorities are:

- Good BGMI performance with stable FPS and manageable heating.

- A decent camera for everyday photos.

- Reliable hardware with fewer issues in the long run.

- Good software support, ideally for 4–5 years.

- At least 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.

I don't necessarily want a gaming-focused phone; I'm looking for a well-balanced all-rounder that will last.

Which phone would you recommend under ₹26K, and why? If you've personally used the A36 or any other phone in this budget for a year or longer, I'd especially appreciate your experience with heating, reliability and performance over time.

Thanks!

No Flair pls guys phone under or around 20k ? for mom

I need a phone for my mom with a good camera and a reliable UI, with at least 128 GB of storage.

I currently have an M21 to exchange. Flipkart is offering ₹2,700 for it, while Amazon is offering between ₹1,300 and ₹3,910. I think the exchange value might drop significantly, so I want to make the most of it. I have both SBI debit and credit cards, so Amazon would be my preferred choice, but priority is good phone.

My current picks:

  • M17: Looks reliable, but I’m not too impressed with its features. Still, it’s my top pick.
  • Virat Curve: Looks good, but I’m not sure about the camera. I have some trust issues with Lava as a brand. plus curved display screen guard got damage easily
  • G57: Tech reviewers used to avoid recommending Motorola phones, but suddenly they seem to be gaining their trust.
  • AI Nova 2 Ultra: I’d probably avoid it unless someone has a positive review or experience to share.
  • M36/F36: is it possible get y any way in my budget?

Any other phone recommendations are welcome!
