💠 Resources, Tools and Widgets Made my own open sourced song request app NextUp

I made my very own Song request app for spotify and Youtube similar to songify.

the reason I made my own is because I wanted to have a way to be able to have viewers request from both platforms. with songify in the past (not sure if it does it now) you werent able to song request from spotify and then youtube at the same time and then have the bot play spotify song and then pause spotify and then play youtube video/song (only music) and then pause youtube and continue on spotify right after if you choose to play a playlist on spotify rather than youtube.

Features that it has

  • blocklist for artist or specific songs.
  • be able to queue from both youtube and spotify
  • manages playback across both platforms, prioritizes requests over fallback playlists
  • customizable widgets with audio-reactive equalizers (and add backgrounds or animations) that you can resize
  • explicit-content filtering
  • role permissions, cooldowns, request limits
  • custom commands
  • built-in updates that preserve your settings.
  • Subscriber and VIP privileges customize request access and limits by Twitch role.
  • YouTube browser playback control a connected YouTube tab through the NextUp extension
  • Album-art colors match widget progress bars and equalizers to the current cover art
  • Separate stream overlays display the current song and upcoming queue in OBS
  • Custom widget editor import/export JSON widgets and customize artwork, fonts, GIF backgrounds, colors, layers, and animations.
  • best of all free and always free to use.

only issue right now is that when you start obs or streamelements the widget doesn't show up unless its opened first.

ill be making more widgets but if you want your very own widget let me know and I can make one for you, and if you have any suggestions on what can be added or improved please do share.
I will be making a discord in the future to allow people to contact me that way about any improvements or ideas they would like to see be implemented.

FEEDBACK IS WELCOMED.

🔰 Beginner Help Combining Minecraft tech mods with actual programming. What would you focus on when starting out?

Hey everyone! I'm brand new to streaming and wanted to get some advice from people with more experience creating live content.

I'm working on a Minecraft project that combines tech mods with actual software development. I play with mods like Create and CC, and the general idea is to explore the intersection between building automated systems in Minecraft and programming the software that connects everything together.

For example, I've built a NestJS web server that receives chat messages from Twitch and YouTube. A CC computer retrieves those messages and displays them directly in Minecraft's chat. I've also integrated YouTube messaging so I can send messages to the live chat from inside the game.

I'd like to keep exploring this idea of connecting Minecraft to external software and making the streaming experience more interactive.

I've done two streams so far, both around 90 minutes. I naturally talk through what I'm doing, explain my plans, and work through problems out loud. I also have an overlay showing six objectives I'm working toward, so there's a sense of progression rather than just randomly playing.

I'm enjoying the actual streams, so I'm not particularly discouraged by having zero viewers so far. I understand that discoverability takes time. I'm more interested in figuring out where to focus my effort while I'm still starting out.

For those of you with experience creating live content, I'm curious,

  • Content strategy: Would you approach a niche like Minecraft + programming primarily through live streams, or would you make edited videos and Shorts a major part of the strategy from the beginning?
  • Positioning: Does combining gameplay with real software development sound like a compelling niche, or would you make the programming aspect more prominent in the presentation?
  • Early priorities: If you were starting from scratch today, what would you spend your first few months improving?
  • Sustainability: How do you balance working on your actual projects with creating content around them, without turning every hobby session into a production?

I'm not expecting instant growth, and I'm not looking for shortcuts. I'd like to develop a sustainable approach and learn from people who've already gone through the early stages.

Thanks for any advice!
