I liked this one it had that style I loved seeing the pros do back in the day, even remember Toph saying he loves the Ken combos where the kind of pass them with the Fair but then drift back with the djDair.

I know regular stadium applies in tournament, and I understand because it makes it more entertaining, but idk when I play ranked and I just can’t help but to hate transformations. If we’re going off pure skill I feel like frozen stadium won’t affect the outcome as much, and it’s just way smoother to play imo because sometimes it interrupts the pace of my match. I get there’s other stage hazards with all the stages besides FD, but stadium is the worst one by far

I was wondering what the broader melee community thinks is the GOAT fox player and then I was thinking who the GOATs are for each character.

Got a tattoo today of my favourite character :D

I bought a JP 2008 whiteshell like 5 years ago and I dont remember the controller having too many issues, but as I've picked the game back up and dusted off the rust I am noticing incredibly consistent input problems that just dont make sense to me.

I am doing sidesmashes and constantly end up doing down smashes, I am constantly attacking in the wrong direction, I am constantly hitting shorthop only for nothing to happen.

Usually I'll blame the misinput on myself, but it is happening WAY too frequently for me to think its just misinputs on my end. Just the other day I side smashed and 6 different times and it did a down smash every time. I have literally been playing this game since I was in diapers, 20+ years of playing and I have never had problems like the ones I am having right now.

In any other game I can very clearly tell when I misinput, in tekken or rocket league I always tell exactly what wrong button I pressed or how I titled the stick wrong and understand why it didnt work but recently in melee I am left incredibly frustrated trying to gauge is it me or is the controller?

I'm at the point where I'm about to buy a b0xx just so I know without a doubt every inconsistency is on me and not the controller. Is there some sort of diagnostic tools where I can say just repeatedly do the same input and it can tell me clearly if there is snapback or other similar issues?

I have learned to somewhat consistently shield drop but in an actual match I usually choke no matter how good I am in training.

Hey so ive have been using my B0XX for about two months now, and at a local I went to yesterday, my controller stopped working on the Wii setups; after taking a look at it, I ordered a new cable which arrived today, but it still doesn't work. What i find weird is that it works fine on my PC through a USB-C to USB-C cable, but both my old and new GameCube to USB-C cables don't seem to work. Yall have any suggestions?

What exactly is this match making rating? Just noticed it today, It says "Decides who you're matched against. Your rating moves toward it as you play". Is it my unranked elo? My overall (ranked and unranked) elo?

Want to play and get kinda good to mess around do some cool tech skill but this game feels like ass with what I currently have current controllers are over 15 years old or cheap knock offs

So far my only training has been against level 9 CPU because any time I try to play an online set I can't match with anyone, most likely because of the hours when I play. But the game's vanilla CPU is sertainly not on the same level as the average player of the present day, so I'm left wondering- is there a way to get good pracice offline; weather through more advanced bots or something else? Because if there is I'm failing to google the right thing to find it.

After another 6ish months after making it to platinum I made it to diamond for the first time today at the start of the season. It’s been a good 2 and a half years of playing and I’m hoping to make master in the next year or so. What a great game this is.

Can I play Melee online?

Yes! Slippi is a branch of the Dolphin emulator that will allow you to play online, either with your friends or with matchmaking. Go to https://slippi.gg to get it.

Go to the The Slippi Discord to get help troubleshooting. melee.tv/optimize is also a helpful resource for troubleshooting.

How do I find tournaments near me or local people to play with in person or online?

These days, joining a local Discord community is the best way to find local events and people to play with. Once you have a Discord account, Google "[your city/state/province/region] + Melee discord" or see if your region has a Discord group listed here on melee.tv/discord

It can seem daunting at first to join a Discord group you don't know, but this is currently the easiest and most accessible way to find out about tournaments, fests, and netplay matchmaking. Your local scene will be happy to have you :)

Netplay is hard! Is there a place for me to find new players?

Yes. Melee Newbie Netplay is a discord server specifically for new players. It also has tournaments based on how long you've been playing, free coaching, and other stuff. If you're a bit more experienced but still want a discord server for players around your level, we recommend the Melee Online discord.

How can I set up Unclepunch's Training Mode?

At the time of posting, the latest major release is here. Download the file, then extract everything in the folder and follow the instructions in the README file. How does one learn Melee?

This has been a 4 year project for me since ranked came out. I had a crazy run on the first two days of the new season. Last 6 set wins were in a row, all against high diamond + players. Finally feel like im good enough that I can be a better coach to my current students and take more on when classes are over. If anyone is interested DM me on here and ill add you on discord.
