Took Petal on her first vacation!
Months ago, Petal was rehomed to me and I started the sphynx journey! And we just got home from our first vacation! We took her along because she gets very stressed when one of her people isn't around (I think maybe because she's deaf) and needs a special diet. She did so well in the car (three hours) and had so much fun!! She's my favorite cat ever. <3 <3

MetLife Insurance Advice
Hi all, happy spooky season! Need to find Maude the perfect costume this year!
We adopted Maude 4 years ago when she was 2. Her original home was looking to rehome her after they had a baby and we were lucky enough to vibe with her enough to be considered to be her new parents.
She has had regular wellness checks at the vet with no health concerns (besides the fact that she is always a pound over weight but she eats the plants if we feed her less).
She also came from a breeder that shows she doesn’t have the heart failure gene (or maybe someone can chime in and correct me on what I mean—we still have the breeder’s paperwork and information but I can’t remember what that was supposed to guarantee).
Anyway. I’m looking at pet insurance through my employer.
Im open to high deductible, low deductible, anything. But need advice on what, in your experience, makes the most sense.
I am attaching the price breakdowns of the top high deductible contenders, but just to give an idea of how the price changes based on the selections I make in the screenshots. I barely understand my human insurance and so asking for your experience. Even the cheapest monthly option adds up to more than what we spend at the vet in a year. But I also want to make sure I’m insured before anything happens and it becomes a pre existing condition.

Amazing Update: Body Condition Score of 5
Some of you may remember that my boy was underweight and I hadn’t fully realized it (was given wrong information). He was brought to their normal vet (different than the one we got wrong information from) for a checkup because he has HCM. I’m happy to report that not only is he not in CHF, but they couldn’t hear his heart murmur at all which had been grade 3 or 4 at all previous visits, he’s at a healthy weight now, and his body condition score was a 5!
Speaking of HCM management, any HCM kitty parents, I would love some tips for keeping him out of CHF for a long as possible. He is on a low sodium, high protein wet food that I changed him to recently, is very active, I’m at home most of the time, and I’m going to reintegrate fish oil into his diet as soon as his stool is well managed with his current diet (he has a sensitive tummy), and I monitor his SRR regularly. We are also working on a request for transferring me to another building within accessible city housing that has less fire alarms and less general conflict/chaos for my sake and the cats to further reduce stress, and once there I plan to add more thorough enrichment via wall attachments and cat trees, of which I already have some and plan to get more. If anyone has any further suggestions and ideas for him I’d be interested to know. Sadly the FDA approved med for HCM management is not available here, so he’s only on Atenolol.
