Hello Skylanders Community!
We all know this is the time of the year to celebrate the games that shaped our childhood and of course, this community. 5 years ago, we were pleasantly surprised when Toys for Bob went live on Twitch to show us the 10th Anniversary Skylanders Spyro's Adventure live stream, and it was an absolute blast.
The next year came and they did the same for Giants, although it was a video instead. The trap team anniversary came and went, and here we land at imaginatiors, no sight of a stream from Toys for Bob. Not even for the 15th anniversary of SSA…
Until tomorrow! Now, officially TFB is busy finishing up Spyro: A Realm Beyond, and while they cook on that, I as well as a group from the original SSA Team (former-TFB developers) will be streaming on YouTube at 12:00PM PST
I invite you to come along, Celebrate, and ask questions for them to answer!
We also have some special surprises at the end!
As some of you may have heard, u/EmberDione and u/The_Somnambulist were kind enough to dump the data from their functional Heartbreaker Buckshot NFC, after u/Dague-Pirate-Dad posted a picture of his personal non-functional HBB figure. (If Ember or Somnambulist, or someone in the Reverse Engineering Discord, make their own announcement post I will link it here.)
Since this is one of the biggest events in the community since the release of Skylanders Imaginators, the mod team has decided we need to create a megathread, to collect some of the most common questions, as well as a short history of how we got here and why this is so important to the community.
If you are strictly here for a guide on how to play Heartbreaker Buckshot, feel free to skip down to the Questions and Answers section of this post.
Since this is our Mod Team's first attempt at a megathread, please bear with us as we learn.
❌ - Repetitive posts (i.e. simply "re-announcing" the news, how-to's, and re-sharing the dump file yourself) will be removed and linked to this post
❌ - Posts (not comments) asking how to play HBB will be removed and linked, comments will be linked to this post
❌ - Posts attempting to sell HBB or any other NFC cards are against the rules and will be removed
✅ - Unique or otherwise interesting posts, including but not limited to YOUR personal adventures with HBB, custom HBB figures, adding a card / custom toy to your collection, technical information about HBB, etc. will STAY UP... although of course we encourage posting these in the comments of this megathread too
The Donor Figure - Ember and Somnambulist's Functional Heartbreaker
History of Heartbreaker Buckshot
Heartbreaker Buckshot is the variant of Buckshot. Announced and marketed with Skylanders Imaginators on YouTube and the website, Heartbreaker Buckshot was planned to release around Valentines Day 2017. There are a few theories as for why this never happened, the common one being that production was stopped due to fears of it looking "satanic", given the variant being a red-eyed goat (and the five unreleased creation crystals being collateral of this production stoppage), as part of the end of the Skylanders franchise.
Perhaps a more credible theory, postured to me by someone in connection with the devs, is that the factory had gotten shut down and production had stopped for an otherwise unrelated reason. By the time the factory was back online, it was too late.
Ember herself has chimed in and said, that wasn't it either - rather just that it was canceled due to low early-wave sales. Regardless, all that's left were factory samples of HBB and the 5 creation crystals.
Since then, the Skylanders community has been hard at work reverse engineering Skylanders variants back into existence. Think, Gearhead VVind-Up, BullTrain, and all the various Debug minions. But there was one thing stopping the community from reverse engineering Heartbreaker Buckshot and the five unreleased Creation Crystals... Imaginators was the first and only game Activision implemented encryption for the figures. Because of this, it is fundamentally impossible to reverse-engineer or even just edit the data of a fully functional Imaginators figure.
There were only around 12 known Heartbreaker Buckshots to exist, the number of them being functional is rumored to be two, one of which u/EmberDione and u/The_Somnambulist possessed.
Today (8/15/2026), she joined the Skylanders Reverse Engineering subreddit, and with the help of multiple community members, helped her to copy the data off the figure. As of 4:25 EST on August 15th, 2026, Heartbreaker Buckshot was the last official Skylander ever released to the Skylanders community.
Q: Where do I find the NFC dump?
A: You can find ALL Skylanders NFC dumps at this GitHub link, if you JUST want Heartbreaker Buckshot, you can find it here
Q: What do I need to buy to make an NFC card?
A: This NFC writer, an NFC card, and a functional PC with Windows Mifare Tool or Yet Another Mifare Tool installed, see below question for more details
Q: How can I get a custom Heartbreaker Buckshot repainted toy?
A: Reach out to either u/TaylorKreate or FlobeiyToys (u/Crafty-Section6240), they may be willing to make one on commission for you
Q: Isn't it illegal to make NFC cards?
A: Well, the Mod Team is not your legal team. However, as far as I personally understand it, the only real risk comes when you attempt to profit off of a stolen IP, so as long as you do not sell NFC cards to other people, you should be okay. But this is all at your own risk.

Personal note from the mod team
This is a huge day for the Skylanders community. We just want to say how proud we are of everyone involved for finally pulling this off. After almost a decade, we've managed to preserve the rarest figures ever slated for public release, AND in a way the entire community can enjoy them
To celebrate, we've changed the Element of the Week pre-emptively to Magic. The Subreddit banner will also temporarily change to art of Heartbreaker. Both the EOTW and Banner will last about two weeks, before we go back to our typical style.
We hope you all have fun with your new Heartbreaker Buckshots. We know we will.
Happy 14th anniversary to Skylanders Giants 🥳 Today is when game got released in the AU. Arguably, the best Skylanders game in the series 🥰 In my opinion 👀
So I’ve got this new Spyro in box, but it looks a bit different. Almost like it’s flocked or dusty. Anyone else have this? It hasn’t been openend so it couldn’t collect dust
Hey guys, I was replaying Skylanders Giants (specifically the Arkeyan robot shooting level) and while looking at the bottom right HUD I noticed something super weird.
Next to the gold counter (x 84), the coin icon doesn't look like a Skylanders asset at all. It literally looks like the classic 3D Super Mario coin rotated 90 degrees to make it look like a generic metallic token/button.
The devs probably used it as a quick placeholder while coding that sequence and forgot to swap it out before shipping the game, thinking no one would ever notice.
Has anyone ever spotted this before? I've never seen it brought up anywhere in the community!
To commemorate the tenth anniversary of Skylanders Imaginators, I am unveiling the first of many custom variants I will be making for my take on the Skylanders Stat Card Game, Harvest Ambush, which uses an autumn-tree theme of red, orange, and yellow, as well as a more ashy-brown for his skin(?) than the original colour. Also his eyes are blue because I didn’t think the yellow eyes looked good with the new wood colour.
This is also the unveiling of my take on the Skylanders Stat Card Game, something that I always thought was a missed opportunity, and I have yet to see any that truly utilise the cards how I think they should. This is a massive project, and I have little time to work on it, so don’t expect news to come by quickly, but I intend many things for this game (of which I will not say in case they fall through).
Below I have listed five questions I expect people to ask and (rather long) answers to those questions, though feel free to ask any that didn’t make the list. If you don’t have any questions to ask, feel free to skip this section.
Why Ambush? Because I’m using the direct stats and not scaling weaker Skylanders to the same level, my resource system is balanced around Imaginators Skylanders having the highest stats but being the hardest to get out (except Elites, but that’s a special case I haven’t entirely worked out yet). However, because variants strictly have higher stats (mostly), it creates a power shift to those with variants, so to remedy this I will be creating custom variants for Skylanders without variants and create cards for many chase variants. I deemed the variants for Imaginators the highest priority for a few reasons: 1) Balance, as mentioned above, 2) They are the most annoying to make these variants for, due to the coloured highlights in either side, which have to be added back after the recolour, and 3) They were the first ones I actively planned for.
What other variants are you planning? Originally, I intended to unveil Harvest Ambush alongside another variant, Sakura Boom Bloom, based on cherry petals. However, after looking at it, Sakura Boom Bloom contained a very majour error, so I need to continue working on it (to hopefully release soon). Outside of that, I will be making another Legendary and another Mythical variant, as well as chase variants (Mainly Dec-Ember and Happy Birthday Ben Starcast) for those with them that I don’t make a custom variant. As for the custom variants, the rest of those will remain a secret and you will just have to wait and see.
Why make the cards yourself? No offense to the main provider of custom stat cards, CollectiverseBe (u/Sure-Policy-9854), but I don’t really like the format they use, as it differs from the original cards in multiple ways. I also prefer to do things myself than to rely on others (I say as I post a recolour of a ten year old artwork). Either way, I hope to make a way for the game to be played online, which is a goal I would need the files for, so I might as well make them myself.
What kind of game is it? The game’s rules and gameplay are not yet complete, though, generally, it will be a deck-building tcg (such as Magic or Yu-Gi-Oh) that is played action-by-action rather than turn-by-turn (like that of Oshi Push), as it allows for more interactive gameplay. The stats of the cards are used in battle with a simple equation, and magic items provide various effects to assist you. Much of the true gameplay hasn’t been decided on, however, so any feedback will be beneficial (even if I don’t respond, that doesn’t mean I didn’t see it and I’ll likely still take it into consideration when finalising the rules).
How long did it take to make Harvest Ambush? The simple answer: A while. I’m not going to say what I did is anything near actual artists’ works, though it did still take multiple days and least seven hours, probably more, so, though it may not be extremely high effort, it is definitely not low effort, especially with the blue and yellow highlights.
Side note: The writing of this post took over an hour.
And, once again, happy tenth anniversary, and I am open to any feedback you may have.
Seriously, the fandom always goes insane after only a month or two. It's a coin flip if it'll be more funny crazy or annoying "the creators must hate us" crazy. once it hits years without content, the fanbase will never be normal again.
anyway rant aside, enjoy this reaction image I made ages ago and forgot to ever share. It's just a screenshot off the wiki but I made his eyes more crossed and a little bloodshot, made his frown bigger and slightly fried the image quality.
Another continuation of the shorter comic with Gill Grunt and Midoriya,This one featuring some more obscure faces.
Plus,a bit of a Introduction of my own Skylander designs.
And also a concept of Reaperstone is basically a anti-elemental ore(especially Undead) used and prohibited everywhere.,it's basically akin to Vengestone in Ninjago, but also a bit of Dark Energon from Transformers.(but puts you into a Purgatory without anything to fight back or return to normal or become Undead, hence the "Soul Killer" name.)
These screenshots come from a Facebook Marketplace posting I fumbled a few weeks ago. That’s why the quality is so bad; nothing I can do about that.
But this exact same posting had a Snowderdash in it as well so it made me severely question what this blue Eruptor was. Since I didn’t manage to obtain it, I wanted to share this. Of course since an employee variant is there I’d love to think it’s a prototype, but it could also be a custom. It does look translucent though, which sounds fitting for a lightcore prototype.
Someone did purchase this, if somehow despite the low odds you see this my fellow North Carolinian, please share better pictures. I want closure.
Just wanted to ask about Red hot Tussle Sprout and those sorts of Villains. As Google wasn't giving me a straight answer and I couldn't find anything.
Is it Possible to Write Villains like Red Hot Tussle Sprout onto a Trap? I own an Earth Totem Trap but When Tussle Sprout is in the trap it only shows up as a normal one. Not the Red Hot Version.
If this is possible how so? I really just wanna have all the villain variants and only Need Red Hot Tussle Sprout and Steamed Broccoli Guy.
Just wanting to ask as the cheapest Red Hot Tussle Sprout Trap I can find is about $50 AUD. Would rather not spend that much on them if I don't have too.
