This post and likely the replies will have spoilers don't read on if that's an issue.
Recently my parents sent me some of my old books and I have reread my Vampire Knight mangas.
Vampire Knight was the first ever manga I randomly picked at a book store when I was young. I think like a lot of kids I didn't have a lot of money so over time I only ended up getting to volume 4. So I re-read what I did have quite a lot and learnt to draw a little bit from it too. I love the art style.
Anyway it turns out this was a very formative read for me in terms of fashion, manga art style preferences and ascetics. I only realize reading it what a huge impact it actually had and just feeling incredibly nostalgic reading it. It was a favourite of mine and a friend who sadly died, she looked a lot like Yuki which adds another layer of weird feelings to all of this.
I have been really disappointed to check in with the franchise to find it took some strange turns and is generally considered to have poor writing going forward. I did eventually give in and read a plot overview.
I would like people's honest opinions. Like I said I have a lot of fond feelings tied up in the first four issues. My question is, do I buy any other issues and continue or will it ruin the story? I kind of pretty much know what happens from the summary but I guess it doesn't feel real right now. My concern is if the plot is THAT bad reading on might ruin it for me?
I'd like to hear other people's experiences whether they think it's worth reading on at all, whether I should stop at a certain volume that kind of thing. Obviously the point I got to didn't really get into any of the problematic stuff do I just quit while I'm ahead?
