What to do?
I've made a similar post about something similar. Basically I was nervous and stressed about asking my parents to shave. Anyways, I have been shaving my legs and arms because I've always found body hair disgusting and useless nowadays but my mum found out and told me to stop. I don't do it as much anymore but I've brought up shaving my face and all that a few times within the last week or two (I really only have a mustache but all my friends shave (and really my entire grade) and they all say it makes me look a year or so older) but she keeps laughing at me and saying "we're not getting into that yet" as if I'd cut myself or something. It's really annoying and I know I'd look way better without it—which I've told her (and about how self-conscious I am about body hair and she just said "oh it's fine it's natural get over it" as if she's not the one who treats me like a girl and does my hair). Thus, what can I do? I'm in my freshman year and I'm already stressed enough with my friends pressuring me about it and just school overall.

Shaving query
Hi all,
I have been using a safety razor regularly for quite a while now but I can never get a properly clean shave without causing irritation or bleeding to my skin. I have tried all different combinations of going with, against and along the grain and nothing gives me the cleanest shave as when I go against the grain.
If I just shave all directions other than against the grain my face still has visible stubble if you look closely.
When I do shave against the grain my skin accumulates speckles of blood and eventually creates red irritation patches in various areas of my face and neck.
When shaving my neck it it’s the most sensitive area and creates lots of bumps that looks a bit like chicken skin.
I’ve tried cold and hot shaving and both have the same effects.
However, when I recently went back to using a multi blade out of desperation I found that cause similar levels of irritation and bleeding but left a cleaner shave.
Ideally I want to go back to using the single blade safety razor but can someone give some advice, happy to confirm anything I may have missed

Non-electric rotary shaver
I am looking for a non-electric rotary shaver. Many years ago a friend showed me a razor he kept with his camping gear that was powered by a draw string that he would pull and the razor heads would spin for 20-30 seconds then he would have to pull the draw string again... I realize it sounds like a lot of work, but I am trying to be environmentally friendly. I have radios and flashlights operated by a hand crank and they work great. If anyone know where I might find a non-electric rotary shaver I'd appreciate the assistance.

Black men with 4C facial hair, how do you shave without getting constant razor bumps? I’m desperate at this point.
I’ve been struggling with severe razor bumps and irritation pretty much since I started shaving at 13, and I’m genuinely at my wit’s end.
I have very coarse, tightly curled 4C facial hair, and no matter what I do or how I shave, I ALWAYS end up with razor bumps, ingrown hairs, and irritation.
Over the years, I’ve tried pretty much everything I can think of, including:
Multi-blade razors
Single-blade/safety razors, at home and a barbershop
Electric foil shavers
Philips OneBlade
Regular beard trimmers
Waxing
Magic Shave powder
Pretty much every razor bump prevention product on the market
Tretinoin and various skincare products meant to help with ingrown hairs
I’ve also experimented with different shaving techniques, but nothing seems to make a significant difference.
The frustrating part is that I genuinely hate how I look with facial hair. I feel like having a beard ages me so much, and I strongly prefer being completely clean-shaven. But at this point, it feels like I have to choose between having facial hair I don’t want or constantly dealing with painful bumps, irritation, and damaged-looking skin.
I’m seriously considering just getting laser hair removal because I’m so tired of dealing with this, but before spending that kind of money, and doing something permanent, I wanted to see if anyone else with similar hair has found something that actually works.
For other Black men with coarse, tightly curled/4C facial hair:
Have you found a razor, shaver, or shaving technique that actually prevents bumps?
Are there any products or routines that made a noticeable difference after trying everything else?
Has anyone gone through laser hair removal specifically for razor bumps? Was it worth it, and did it help long-term?
Is it even realistic to get a completely smooth shave with this hair type without constantly getting ingrowns?
I’d especially love to hear from people who used to have really severe razor bumps and actually managed to get them under control.
I’m genuinely open to any advice at this point. I just want to be able to shave my face without my skin looking and feeling terrible afterward.

Will never buy another Braun
Had a phillips Aquatouch 5000 series for years. Awesome trimmer in the shower. Trimmer finally broke after dropping it a bunch. Decided to try a new razor instead of sourcing trimmer head due to its age. Saw good thing about Braun and decided to try. It's been just over 6 months and the trimmer head is garbage. Cleaned out and still dosn't work. What a garbage quality shaver. I've now sourced a trimmer head for the old Phillips, as the shaver is discontinued. Will never buy another Braun in my life!

Quality electric shaver for boyfriend?
Hello all. My boyfriend absolutely hates having any hair his face, but he just uses a standard drugstore razor and shaving cream. He always ends up with a ton of irritation and some nicks on him by the end of his routine, so I was in the market for a nice electric shaver for him for Christmas! I know it's a couple months out, but I always get so swamped with finals around Christmastime that gifts take a backseat.
I'm not in tune with the world of men's electric razors at all, so I was wondering if anyone on here had any suggestions with products they've actually used or know someone who has used them. That way, I can know if they actually live up to the hype. My boyfriend is a pretty techy guy, so I think he'd like an electric razor, perhaps rechargeable? I'm looking for something that will leave a close, very smooth shave with no irritation. My budget is not too tight (I hope?). $100+ is okay, but $200 is pushing it. I'm going for quality over quantity with gifts right now, but I'm not a trillionaire...
Thank you!

Foil shaver causing dark ball spots
Hey so I’m still an amateur at shaving my balls even after a year or so, whenever I shave with the manscaped 5.0 foil shaver after using the trimmer guard, it causes these weird dark melanin spots on my groin area. Does anyone have a solution?

Philips MG7920 vs MG7940 Trimmer ?
I want a trimmer mostly for beard trimming, hairs (rarely, coz I go to barber), nose and for body and private parts.

Budget : below 4k
PS: I have to buy today only by EOD
Best product for maitining ~5mm stuble?
I always just used a oneblade with the adjustable guard, but I dont like it at all, I feel like I need to do so many passes to make it take everything evenly. My jaw is also pretty sharp so its hard to use the guard on it. Any recommendations on other things to try? saw someone mention Braun series 3, is this style of shaver good? or is it only for clean shave? something else I should try?
thanks for any tips!

Suggest beard trimmer
Hy 19 M here wanna buy my first trimmer I'm sticking to ₹1,000 for the budget , I've been searching across internet yet confused myself even more . Alot of people suggest phillips BT1244 yet people also suggest that it take alot of time to get charged and vibrate too much . I'm open to any suggestions regarding it as long its under my budget and people have actually used it than buying a product that only works for 3 months .
Looking forward for suggestions,, thanx
P.s : For past a year and a half I'm going to barber to get my beard trimmed to look neat and clean for my clg but I have to wait so long for just 15 min of beard cutting though he uses scissors for beard and trimmer for neck and cheeks I do think I should get a trimmer for myself bcz alot of time I just don't have that much time to wait for it . Last time I waited 1hr 45 min bcz the guy before me took way too much time for hair and beard and when my turn came he tidy me up in exact 15 min ... I was tired and exhausted that it took me 2 hrs for It . ( I know some might say change the barber but any other barber is 30 min drive from where I live and that's also and hour for round trip ,,,so yeah I'm kinda desperate for a trimmer that last long and have good battery )

Best foil shaver
I have a heavy beard. I've used braun Shavers forever and the original pulsonic was Far and Away best shaver I've ever used. Of course they ruined it about 10-15 years ago when they changed the head. Since then I haven't been able to find anything that comes close. I'm currently using a series 7. I try to Panasonic one time and it wasn't any better.
What other Shavers do people recommend? Cost is not a concern. I want something that will give me a decent shave without having to go over everything five times. Thanks.

Weird Sweat Smell in Panasonic TM20A Shaver
So I purchased a supposingly brand new TM20A in blue from Taobao (Chinese version of AliExpress), only to find out that the shaver I received could be an open box unit.
I fought the seller who sold it as new but as I dumped the box immediately after opening it I was only given a partial refund.
So this is the strange part. When I received the shaver, I opened it to check, but didn't remember smelling anything weird or seeing any hair remains. I washed the shaver with soap, but silly me covered it up before it dried. Then after that I left it alone for a while while I fought the seller.
The shaver then developed a strong smell that smells like old sweat or body odour. I then washed the blades and foils, cleaned the main handle with ipa, and left them to dry for two days. After two days I checked that the smell has disappeared so I reassembled it and left it alone.
One week later, I took off the cover. The smell has came back. I don't know why and am now debating if I should just throw the whole shaver away.

Is it just me or does the phillips one blade become dull very quick?
When i start off shaving with a new blade it cuts very close to the skin like i want it to, but after only a few shaves it goes dull and less close. Am i doing something wrong? My facial hair is only a few mm of not very dense stubble growth, fyi

what do you think abou babyliss Pro shaver? feedbacks , experiences?
Hi
i used several braun like series 3 and they are pretty good , I've never liked Philips shavers. When I was younger, they used to irritate my skin.
My first electric shaver was a Braun Series 2. It was pretty old, but it never gave me any problems when I was younger.
I need a new shaver. Most Braun shavers these days are battery-operated only, whereas the models they made a few years ago could be used both plugged in and cordless, so you could use them with or without a battery.
I was looking at the BaBylissPRO range. They look amazing, and they can be used both corded and cordless.
For example, the BaBylissPRO FoilFX02 Silver with its double titanium foil system. The shaving head reminds me of my first Braun shaver. Besides looking great, it can be used both corded and cordless, so you can run it on battery power or plug it directly into the mains. It also seems pretty powerful. Here in Europe, it costs around €120.
What I’d like to ask you is whether any of you have used a BaBylissPRO shaver, and if so, does it shave well and feel as gentle on the skin as a Braun Series 2 or Series 3?
thanks

Is hand sanitizer a good alternative to rubbing alcohol?
Sorry if this is a waste of time. I literally made an account to ask this question. I just shaved by myself for the first time, and I realized I didn't have any rubbing alcohol or that liquid in a blue bottle I see my father use after shaving. Every time I watched my father shave when I was younger, he always told me: "The day you shave. Make sure to remember to use rubbing alcohol because buttons will appear on your face." My father works out of the country and he took the blue bottle he uses after shaving with him and I wanted to try a new style with the hair on my face.
Is it a good idea to use hand sanitizer?

Razor bumps on my neck won't go away, can I get rid of them without stopping shaving?
Hi! I've had this patch of razor bumps on my neck for years now because I shave very frequently and they keep getting cut open/irritated by the razor. I'm wondering if there's any way to make them go away (and stay away) other than just not shaving that area for a bit.
I would rather not stop shaving, even temporarily, because I'm a trans woman and having any amount of facial hair makes me feel disgusting. Especially since mine is quite dark and noticeable when it grows longer than clean-shaven.

shaver recommendations?
i have an IPL device (ulike air3) and since i have to shave everytime before IPL it's starting to irritate my skin, making me feel lazy to do the IPL regularly (I've stopped for 2-3 months and just trimmed down there). i used normal razors i think it's 3 blades? not sure. before this i used 1 blade razor and yes i still got ingrown hairs.
so i looked for alternatives and found
philips one blade 360/intimate
philips lady shaver series 8000
idk if option 1 is good enough since option 2 is like twice the price of option 1.
can anyone give reviews of those options or is there any other shavers/razors/trimmers that shaves close enough for IPL?

Does Philips Send Bodygroom Replacements In Brown Box Packaging?
I had an old Norelco Bodygroom series that stopped working. I contacted Philips on this issue and was given a replacement for free. The issue is when I received it and opened it up, the original box it came in with looks like it has been opened. It did not look new.
I then mentioned this to them and returned it back for a new one. When I got the new bodygroom and opened the box, it did not come in the original retail packaging box but came in a brown box that had a sticker on it that taped it. When I opened it, the items seemed fine. My concern is if this item was refurbished or not due to the packaging. I read online that some replacements that come from the manufacturer might be in a brown box as opposed to retail packaging. I did read some items are refurbished and then repackaged into this.
What I do remember was a long time ago I bought a Norelco bodygroom from Amazon and it was at a discount and then the packaging came in a brown box just like this. I read that certain packaging is like this. The model is Norelco Bodygroom 7490/50. Anyone bought this model and received it in a brown box? What about those of you who had a warranty and then got a replacement. Did any Norelco Bodygroom you receive came in a brown box? I did read that some packaging is like this due to eco friendly.
