Forum question Why 2026?
So we know Zach Cregger's Resident Evil in set in modern day rather than 1998. And yeah unlike some fans of the franchise this didn't really bother me, but something did occur to me on a rewatch. Other than Bryan using his phone on occassion, is there any reason this couldn't have been 1998? Bryan could have easily used a car phone to talk to his girlfriend and used a regular torch the rest of the movie. The only instance of him really needing a phone is him recording his message in the garage, I feel like there could have been a way around that. Even the snow issue, I mean you could easily say it was a freak snowstorm day 1 of the outbreak, Leon and Claire don't arrive until the week after and Jill doesn't leave her apartment until around the same time.
