What's the best YouTube API in 2026?

If you're building an application around YouTube data, one of the challenges is getting the information you need without having to handle every data collection step yourself.

I've been looking at the different use cases for YouTube data APIs, from channel research and video analytics to comment analysis and transcript-based applications. Here's a closer look at what you can do with the SteadyAPI YouTube API.

What data can you access?

Depending on the endpoint, you can use the API for tasks such as:

  • Video details: Retrieve available metadata about individual videos, including titles, descriptions, and statistics.
  • Channel information: Collect channel details to support creator research and channel monitoring.
  • Video search: Find videos matching relevant keywords for content discovery and research.
  • Comments: Retrieve available comments for audience research, feedback analysis, and content insights.
  • Transcripts: Access available video transcripts for text analysis, summarization, and search indexing.
  • Playlists and related videos: Explore video collections and discover related content where supported.

See the full endpoint details in the SteadyAPI YouTube API documentation.

What can you build with it?

1. YouTube analytics dashboards

Collect video and channel information to build dashboards that help users understand content performance and monitor available engagement metrics over time.

2. Creator research tools

Build workflows for researching channels, finding relevant videos, and organizing creators by topic or niche.

3. Comment analysis applications

Analyze available comments to identify recurring questions, common feedback, and audience interests. For larger datasets, consider pagination, storage, and request limits.

4. Content discovery platforms

Use video search and related content to help users find videos around particular subjects, keywords, or areas of interest.

5. Transcript search and AI workflows

Where transcripts are available, use them to power text search, summarization, topic extraction, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems.

6. Content monitoring

Periodically collect available public metrics and store timestamped snapshots to track changes. Historical trends require you to retain your own snapshots if historical records aren't provided by the endpoint.

Things to consider before integrating

  • Endpoint coverage: Confirm that the API supports the specific data and operations your application requires.
  • Request limits and pricing: Estimate your expected usage and review the applicable plan limits before running large jobs.
  • Pagination: Plan for multiple requests when retrieving large result sets.
  • Missing data: Comments may be disabled, and transcripts aren't available for every video.
  • Caching: Store results where appropriate to reduce repeated requests and make your application more efficient.
  • Error handling: Account for invalid identifiers, unavailable content, rate limits, and temporary failures.

Getting started

Visit the SteadyAPI YouTube API page to review the available endpoints and integration details. Before building a full application, test a few videos and channels that represent your actual use case, then verify the returned fields and request requirements.

What are you building with YouTube data? I'm curious whether people are mainly using it for analytics dashboards, creator research, comment analysis, or AI-powered applications.

Looking for Python software engineers and backend/data developers for ongoing, 100% asynchronous remote contract work (up to $150+ USD/hr) evaluating, debugging, and benchmarking AI-generated Python code.

WHAT THE WORK INVOLVES:
• Testing and auditing AI-written Python implementations (backend logic, data pipelines, algorithms, asyncio, standard library & common frameworks)
• Catching subtle edge-case failures, mutability traps, off-by-one bugs, and O(n^2) complexity bottlenecks
• Writing clean, Pythonic reference solutions and explaining technical tradeoffs in clear English

COMPENSATION & LOGISTICS:
• Role setup: Freelance/contract work through Data Annotation Tech
• Pay: Up to $150+ USD/hr via PayPal
• Dashboard & payouts: Select projects from your dashboard that match your stack, submit your time worked after finishing each task, and withdraw funds a week later
• Schedule: 100% remote and completely asynchronous with no meetings, standups, or minimum weekly hours

WHAT WE LOOK FOR:
• Professional software engineering experience with Python (or an advanced CS / data / algorithmic coding background)
• Strong proficiency in Python (plus SQL, C++, TypeScript, Go, or Rust)
• Solid grasp of data structures, algorithms, and computational complexity (Big-O), plus strong written English

HOW TO APPLY:
Onboarding requires passing a one-time coding assessment. If you're interested (and don't already have an account on the platform), send me a DM with:
1. Your country of residence
2. Your software engineering experience & degree/education
3. Your primary programming languages and Python stack
4. Your comfort level with data structures, algorithms, and Big-O analysis
5. ~Weekly hours you have available for this work

Please leave a "DM Sent" comment on this post after messaging me so I know to check my message requests if Reddit hides your chat.

Tired of cleaning messy files or logs by hand?

I built a simple desktop tool using Python that extracts emails, phone numbers, IPs, and errors automatically from .csv, .json, .docx, and .txt files. It handles folders instantly without freezing and I can build that with a simple and easy Graphical Interface.
If you need a quick script or a tool like this for your work, just shoot me a DM.

In this gif this a full app , it can extract a different patterns, if you need just a specific file type I can do that also.

[ForHire] [Full Remote] Small Python/FastAPI fixes and CSV/JSON cleanup

I’m available for small, clearly scoped Python/FastAPI tasks, working remotely from Saudi Arabia (UTC+3).

Good fits: - Fix one reproducible parsing, import or API-validation bug. - Clean or combine a supplied CSV/JSON export with explicit duplicate and missing-value rules. - Turn a repetitive file-processing step into a reusable script.

An agreed task can include source code, checks for the agreed cases and short setup notes.

My experience comes from personal/university projects and a four-month ML research internship. I use AI tools during implementation and test the result. Relevant independent examples are available privately.

If you have a paid task, reply with the problem, expected output, budget and desired deadline. Please keep passwords, API keys and private customer data out of public comments; use a redacted sample.

I’ll confirm feasibility and agree the scope, fee, review/payment steps and turnaround before work begins. PayPal is available.

[For Hire] Full-stack developer helping businesses build websites, apps & AI-powered tools - $40/hr

Got an idea but no dev team? Or burned by freelancers who ghost mid-project?

I'm a software developer (Next.js, TypeScript, Python) who's built everything from a hospital scheduling platform that cut overtime costs by 20%, to AI-powered SaaS tools and Chrome extensions. I help businesses build custom websites, mobile apps, internal tools, and SaaS platforms, scoped around what you actually need, not a template.

I also specialize in AI integration: chatbots, workflow automations, GPT/Gemini-powered features, OCR pipelines, and CRM automations. One recent build cut response times by 60% using the WhatsApp Business API with serverless webhooks.

Whether you're a startup building an MVP, a business going digital, or looking to add AI to an existing product, I've got you.

No hard sell, just a conversation to see if it's a good fit.

Portfolio: https://hassan0599.github.io

If you've got something in mind, drop a comment or DM me. Happy to share past work too.

[Hiring] [Full Remote] Software Engineer, AI Coding Tasks

We're looking for experienced software engineers to build AI coding tasks from a codebase they know well. US$1,000 per task, and you can do as many tasks as you want.

You turn a real change from a repository you know into a task that today's best AI coding models struggle with: hard for the models, but fair for a skilled engineer. Your tasks are used to measure and train AI coding models.

Remote, any location. US$1,000 per task that passes review. Minimum of one task a week, about 10 hours a week.

How it works

  1. Apply. Complete a short screener interview and upload your resume.
  2. Propose. Once you're selected, pick a change from a repository you know and submit a short proposal. We approve it or suggest a better candidate.
  3. Build. In our platform, set up the repository as it was before the change, then write the brief, the correct solution and the grading checks.
  4. Stress-test. Try lazy, incorrect and shortcut solutions and make sure your checks catch them.
  5. Model testing. Run your task against leading AI models until strong models often fail but a skilled engineer can clearly solve it.
  6. Review. A reviewer checks your task and you revise it. Most tasks take more than one round.
  7. Next task. Once your task is accepted, start another.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional software engineering
  • Code merged into a public open-source repository, ideally one you know well. A private codebase you own may also qualify (not employer or client code)
  • Strong in at least one of Python, TypeScript, Go, Rust, Java or C++
  • Solid with Docker, Linux, Git and automated testing
  • Regular use of an AI coding tool
  • Experience writing tests, rubrics or evaluation criteria, ideally for AI models
  • You can explain a change clearly and concisely, in your own words
  • At least 10 hours a week, starting now
  • A secure personal or work computer (no public or shared machines)

Nice to have

  • Deep expertise in one area, such as databases, compilers, distributed systems, security or infrastructure
  • Experience building agent tasks or RL environments

Terms

  • US$1,000 for each task that passes our quality review, paid directly to you
  • Once your proposal is qualified, you sign Askable's contract and accept its terms
  • The work is used for AI training. The change and your solution must be your own, and you must be free to license them to us
  • Don't publish the work anywhere: no public pull request or public fork

Apply at https://www.askable.com/experts/roles/senior-software-engineer
