New rule - NO [FOR HIRE] posts

Hey everyone, we’ve decided to create a new rule banning for hire posts. 99% of these post are low effort, low quality and provide no input on the real skill level of the candidate.

We will keep this sub clean for job postings and a place to discuss job strategy, the javascript ecosystem and related technologies.

Thank you.

Hi everyone!

I'm an experienced customer support professional looking to work with e-commerce businesses, online stores, and growing brands that need reliable customer communication support.

Mid-level “TypeScript” devs out-earn senior “JavaScript” devs - remote contract rates by stack, seniority and region (Q3 2026)

Disclosure: I work at Lemon IO, a contract dev marketplace. We publish anonymized rates from our active contracts, and I pulled the JS-ecosystem numbers into one table because the stack gaps surprised me.

These are developer hourly rates (what devs earn, not what clients pay), juniors excluded, Q3 2026 snapshot.

Median hourly rates Q3 2026 Lemon IO Data

What jumped out:

The label matters more than I expected. A mid-level TS dev’s median beats a senior “JS” dev’s. Some of that is probably who tags themselves as plain JS rather than a pure skill premium, but if your profile still says “JavaScript developer,” it’s worth a look.

Node has the highest ceiling: $60 for strong seniors, vs about $50 almost everywhere else.

Angular and Vue seniors sit about $10/hr below React, Node and TS seniors.

Location beats seniority by a mile. A US senior React dev’s median is $79 vs $44 in Europe/UK, while going from senior to strong senior in React only adds about $5.

Caveats, because they matter: this is one network, weighted toward Eastern Europe and LatAm, so the global medians will look low if you’re US-based, and the US figures come from a smaller pool. One contract can count under several stacks. Strong-senior samples are small (Angular’s is about 14 contracts). Treat it as one data point, not the market.

Does this match what you’re seeing? Curious whether Vue/Angular folks see the same gap outside marketplaces.

I'm 19, a Backend Developer from Nigeria — How Can I Land My First Remote Job?

Hello everyone!

I'm a 19-year-old backend developer from Nigeria, and I'm currently trying to find a way to start earning through remote work while continuing my education.

My main focus is backend development. I've been learning and building projects using technologies such as JavaScript, Node.js, Express.js, and PostgreSQL. I'm working to improve my skills, build real-world projects, and become a better developer.

My goal is to work with international clients or a company where I can contribute, gain real-world experience, and grow as a developer.

However, I'm finding it difficult to figure out where to start. Many remote jobs require years of professional experience, and it can be discouraging when you're trying to get your first opportunity.

I'd really appreciate advice from developers who have been in a similar situation, especially those who started their careers in Africa or landed their first remote jobs without much professional experience.

A few questions I have:

  • Where should I look for legitimate remote backend developer jobs that accept beginners?
  • Is it better to apply for junior developer positions, internships, freelance projects, or open-source opportunities?
  • What kind of projects or portfolio would make a beginner stand out?
  • Are there any companies or platforms that are genuinely beginner-friendly and open to hiring developers from Nigeria?

If you have any advice, resources, personal experiences, or opportunities you think might help, I'd be very grateful.

I'm willing to learn, put in the work, and prove myself. I don't expect success overnight; I just want to find the right starting point.

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

I got fed up with being rejected from AI training/annotating jobs, so I made a site that aims to make the search easier

Hello, due to having trouble finding the right places to apply and not really knowing how to pass and do an assessment in the AI Training/Annotating Space I decided to build with a site with loveable that is supposed to make the process easier.

I list job offers with a relatively high hiring volume from multiple companies, so would it therefore be easier do diversify the places to apply at and actually get accepted.
My idea behind that was to help with finding the right places to work but also help with the application process. I therefore upload company reviews and also guides on how to pass assesments.
The job listings include entry work positions such as normal generalist work but also expert work positions (Software engineer, PhD, etc.).
I am currently having problems on the design, trying to make it less AI-sloppy, and on the marketing side of things. So any help would be highly appreciated! Here is the link to the site: https://aiannotationjobs.com/

Question for those working remotely for US/EU companies as a Data Analyst / Full-Stack Dev - how did you find your opportunity?

I'm a Data Analyst and Full-Stack Developer from Brazil (Python, SQL/Oracle/Sankhya, Power BI, React/Node.js). My main work is automating messy ERP -> Excel pipelines, cleaning data with Pandas/Openpyxl, and building dashboards for stock/sales/cost analysis.

I'm trying to break into the US/EU remote market and would love to hear what actually worked for you:

  1. Which platforms/sites got you real interviews? (LinkedIn, Wellfound, Toptal, Upwork, etc.)

  2. Is it better to focus on freelance/contract first or apply directly for full-time remote roles?

  3. For those from LATAM, how did you handle timezone and payment issues?

Any advice or leads are appreciated. Happy to share my portfolio/GitHub in DMs.

HIRING: Full-stack Engineer | Remote

We're hiring a full-stack engineer at AIKOCorp and the role is fully remote. We're spread far enough apart that someone is usually awake whenever you are, most of my calls land around midnight my time.

AIKO builds monitoring for startups. React and TypeScript on the front, Go on the backend, so a front-end-only person won't fit.

I run 3 remote job boards. Keywords kept putting JavaScript roles on the Java board, so I added Jev for AI classification – here is the full breakdown

Our keywords kept misclassifying remote jobs: JavaScript -> Java board, security roles -> AI board.

We fixed it with Jev from TypeSafe AI: one structured decision call per posting, shadow mode first, enforce only when confident, plus a weekly /audit-jev check.

Full breakdown here:

Backend developer (Node, NestJS, AWS) looking for a remote role, C2 English

I'm looking for a backend developer role, remote from anywhere or hybrid.

I work with Node.js, NestJS and TypeScript. On AWS I use Lambda, SQS, SNS and S3, and for data PostgreSQL with Prisma. I've also used Redis, RabbitMQ and Docker.

In my projects I built async payment processing, Stripe, Mercado Pago and PIX integrations, webhook signature verification, and protection against double charges. I also have a marketplace with checkout built with React, Next.js and NestJS.

My English is C2, so I'm comfortable working with international teams.

I got fed up with being rejected from AI training/annotating jobs, so I made my own website

Hello, I have gotten really annoyed by constantly getting rejected after literally spending hours applying, doing assessments, and verifying my identity and then getting rejected or not even hearing back. I therefore decided to make my own site where I list job offers from multiple companies.

I also post tips on how to pass assessments and reviews of different companies in that space. No sign-up or anything like that required. I only list job offers that have a relativly high hiring volume. The listings include entry role jobs but also expert positions (Software Engineers, etc.). Let me know what you think and if there is anything that I can improve or implement. here is the link to the website: aiannotationjobs.com

What’s the best way to find small, well-scoped OSS engineering tasks to work on remotely? Body:

I’m a software engineer working mainly with React/TypeScript and Node.js, and I’ve recently started contributing more seriously to open source.

I’ve found that finding full-time remote roles is easy compared to finding small, well-scoped engineering tasks that can be completed alongside a regular job — bug fixes, integrations, frontend features, API work, etc.

For people already doing this remotely, where do you actually find these opportunities?

I’m particularly interested in places where the work is technical and contribution-based rather than generic freelancing.
