Discussion User/Post Flairs
When you join the community, you are asked to choose a user flair. You are also expected to tag vocal rating submissions with a post flair. The three main levels are “Beginner,” “Intermediate,” and “Advanced”. These descriptors are vague, and they may be difficult to assign to oneself. For this reason, the mods have decided to post this breakdown to help people decide what level they are at.
If you:
- Have been talking vocal lessons for less than a year
-Have never or barely been vocally trained
-Have never been paid to sing
-Cannot sing a note accurately after hearing it
-Do not know how to sing with proper breath support and physical technique
-Are not confident enough in your skill to sing in front of others
Then you might be a “Beginner”. Consider choosing that as your post and user flair.
If you:
-Have been taking vocal lessons for more than a year
-Have had some or a lot of vocal training
-Have never been paid to sing or paid sometimes
-Are confident enough in your skill to sing in front of others for no charge
-Can sing a note accurately after hearing it
-Can sing with proper breath support and vocal technique
Then you might be an “Intermediate”. Consider choosing that as your post and user flair.
If you:
-Have been taking vocal lessons for multiple years
-Are extensively vocally trained
-Have been paid to sing multiple times or sing professionally
-Are confident enough in your skill to charge others to hear you sing
-Can sing notes with perfect accuracy after hearing them
-Can sing with excellent breath support and near perfect technique
Then you might be “Advanced”. Consider choosing that as your post and user flair
We understand that you may have some overlap with the categories. It is our suggestion that if even one of the traits of a lower level applies to you, then you should consider using that as your flair.
Please comment with your suggestions for how to differentiate more accurately. We would love the community’s input on what should qualify as a beginner, intermediate, and advanced singer. This post may be updated in the future with these suggestions.

Feedback - Intermediate Soft palette and clarity
I've been trying to focus on lifting the soft palette when singing, and trying to keep mouth more open while getting a clearer sound, I got some feedback previously that I had a lot of low end so needed to focus on a bit more clarity to cut through, and also opening my mouth more O shaped instead of flatter as my placement was making my vowels sound flat, is it working?
Sang a lyric wrong 😅
Lyrics:
Falling, this cliff came way too soon
Falling, it's my own fault that I'm here
Falling, is there any way to be safe
Right now feels dark, don't know, wish I could touch the light, be home with you
Falling, can't break myself enough
Falling, wanna be a better man
Falling, let the fire make me gold
Right now feels dark, don't know, wish I could touch the light, and know its true
I'm trust falling into you
I'm trust falling into you
I'm trust falling into you
Right now feels dark, I know that I can touch the light, be home with you

Feedback - Beginner Have been practicing for a month or so
I have been trying to remember playing the piano after almost not touching it for roughly 10 years. But simply playing classical pieces isn't that fun for me, so I started working on songs. I've never considered myself a singer.
I took 3 lessons with a vocal coach, but we've only did exercise and some karaoke singing. I played this song for her, but she didn't really give any feedback apart from "sing louder and sing more to feel the pitch better", so I'm considering changing the coach.
Am I moving in the right direction? Open for all kind of feedback!!
(ps sorry for some piano mistakes)

Feedback - Intermediate Do you hear the emotion in my voice?
I wrote/sang this for my fiance. Someone said it sounds like I'm reading my lyrics with no emotion. Is this true?
