Breeder Review Questions about Seattle Area Breeder - OhMyStars
Hi! If you got your ragdoll kitten from OhMyStars in Buckley Washington, could you DM me or respond in this thread here? I put a deposit for an upcoming litter and I had some questions I wanted help getting answered but Laura has been unresponsive lately and completely MIA across all her social media accounts.
First off, pls share any pics and which parents ur ragdoll kitten is from. Would love to get a better idea of what her litters look like!
Her contract says she doesn’t allow FELV or Rabies vaccines for her kittens. Did she ever specify why? Did you end up giving your kittens those vaccines anyway? Which vaccines does she give?
Did your kittens face any health issues within the first two years? Anything I should prepare for?
How accurately did she match you with the temperament and type of personality you were looking for in a ragdoll? She doesn’t let people choose the exact kitten and picks for you so wanted to understand if that has worked in your favor.
Thanks!

General Advice Uk Food advice
Hey everyone, I have a 12 week old kitten who was on a pretty poor food diet when I got him (lots of grains and fillers. I've signed up to a few higher quality food brands, katkin, untamed and marro. He's hit or miss with katkin and untamed and loves Marro but i hear mixed opinions on them. Marro is 80%+ percent meat with prebiotics in the form of some starches. Some say its good for Ragdolls with their temperamental tummies and others don't like them, anyone able to help ?

Sleepy Floof My non-cuddly ragdoll being extra cuddly today 🥺
We adopted my Oatmeal from the breeder after she had been returned at 2 years old when her original owner passed. She has never been super affectionate or cuddly with us and I figured it was due to her previous home environment, maybe they weren’t as affectionate. But she has been so cuddly and sweet today and it really just made my day!

Health Advice Possible reasons for throwing up?
Hi all,
My 10 month old boy, Toro, has thrown up twice in the last week. It’s mostly undigested with whole shapes of his kibble visible along with some hair (not sure what’s considered a little or a lot of hair as I’m a first time pet owner). I’ve had him for about 4 months and he’s been fine up until this past week. He still plays, uses the litter box, and acts normal otherwise.
There also haven’t been any changes to his diet. Hes free fed dry food, and fed wet food once a day at dinner time. I’m pretty certain it’s not due to the wet food since the times he throws up are far before it’s his dinner time.
He’s also not a very fast eater with his dry food, as he picks out the dry food from his bowl and eats it off the floor (I’ve gone through several types of bowls and this is what he prefers to do with his kibble).
My conclusion is that it could be due to hairballs but im not so sure. I’ll admit I haven’t been grooming him as much as I should 😅 Any one have any suggestions? Much appreciated 🙏

Health Advice Midline or flank spay?
So our vet said she normally does midline spays because it's less painful than flank (as with flank you have to cut through more layers of muscle) and it's easier to visualise anything. The breeder thought flank was less invasive and vet said if we felt strongly about it, one of the other vets at the practice would do flank for us.
I just want to do whatever is best for my girl and confused by the breeder thinking flank is better vs what vet told us. Any advice?

General Advice Combing Advice
Hi everyone! We have a 4 month old Ragdoll kitten, and although his full floof hasn’t come in yet, I want to get him used to a regular grooming and cleaning routine while he’s still young.
I’m looking for recommendations on:
• Combs and brushes: What works best for a Ragdoll’s coat? We have a Furminator and a regular cat brush that we use for our other floofy cat, but I’m wondering if there’s something better for a Ragdoll, especially once his coat fills out.
• Face cleaning: He sometimes has a little runny nose and the usual eye boogers. He seems to have some allergies (few weeks since we adopted him), so I’d love tips on gently cleaning around his eyes and nose and getting him comfortable with the routine.
• Bum cleaning: What’s the best way to clean their bum when needed? Do you use pet wipes, a damp cloth, or something else? Any tips for preventing poop from getting stuck in their fur as he gets fluffier? I usually trim the britches and around the area on the other cat as a preventative.
I’m not looking to bathe him regularly, just to establish good grooming and hygiene habits early on.
Would love to hear what products you use and any tips you wish you’d known when your Ragdoll was a kitten.
Thanks! 🐱

Silly Floof My poor baby had to have all his teeth removed. 💔
It’s been two months now, and for a long time, I had no idea how much pain he must have been in. I cried at the vet when I found out that they really had to remove every single one of his teeth!
But he’s handling everything like the little fighter he is, and thankfully, he’s doing so much better now. He’s so much happier again because he’s finally pain-free, and he can eat without any problems.
I’m so incredibly proud of him! 🥹❤️

General Advice Update on UK cat tree recommendations
Thanks for all the recommendations. I eventually settled on this bed by Lords and Labradors, which I bought from Dunelm for £180. It’s incredibly study and well made with real wood and a wide, solid wood base which will make it impossible to topple. I've just put it up and Benny is already loving it
