unsolved Importing already existing files with hardlinking.

Hi,

I'm very new to the arr-stack and am trying to setting it up properly.

I currently have a collection of movies files that I'd like to import to radarr and have it harlinked (so my titles stay the same). The collection never went through radarr at any time so it's not indexed in any way.

What would be the proper way to do it?

My config:

- movie file collection in /data/save/movies (each in its own folder)

- root folders (where I want the hardlinks to be) /data/media/movies

- In settings renaming, replace illegal characters, hardlinks, extra files, analyze video are checked.

- I made sure in shell that hardlinking from /data/save to /data/media works

Here is what I already tried to no avail (which is why I ask what the proper way is):

- Importing from the movies tab (works but makes no hardlinks) and it created it as a root folder.

- Then importing from the wanted tab (manual import) both with and without /save/media/movies as a root folder. Same behaviour each time : no hardlink created, an unrelated error and an info line :

Error|VideoFileInfoReader|Unable to parse media info from file: "moviename").
|Info|MovieService|assigning file [movie.mkv] to movie [movie name (year)][indexes].

I do not know what else to check, any help is welcome, thanks.

Hello friends, I just did the gluetun tunnel implementation and hosted radarr in my small homelab. I am very new and idk what to do next, how to get the indexers where can we get? i don’t like to pay for anything since I hardly use this I just wanted to getting started with this.

Also as a vpn server I connect to swizz server since I live in germany here torrenting is illegal.

Can you guide me how and where I can find the indexers to join?

waiting for op Some films are not hardlinking

I have hardlinking enabled and my downloads folder and movie folder are on the same mount. About 99% of move movies (and TV shows) are correctly being downloaded and hardlinked, but a couple are not. The strange thing is if I query the files within the /movies folder using 'ls -l' it does report a xxxx2 meaning they're hardlinked, but when I query the same file in my downloads folder it reports a xxxx1. I must have everything set up correctly because out of about 600 films it's only ~5 that are the issue, but they're still and issue. Does anyone have any ideas?

waiting for op First time user struggling with file sizes

Hey,

First let me say that this ecosystem is amazing, I haven’t downloaded in fifteen years, but a couple of relatives and family members abroad want to be fed with their native culture and I am totally mesmerised by how far the scene has developed.

I am trying to get the hang of a couple of things:

We are not a super big TV / movie crowd and mostly use Plex on the iPad, max a 32” TV, despite selecting 1080 I get huge cinematic gigabyte downloads, in addition everything runs of a NAS, as much as we do have x265 support on all clients I feel x264 in our situation (huge bandwith, small NAS) seems to be an acceptable compromise, how do I enforce x264 with reasonable file sizes and how do I enforce that manual searches are the canonical file (hence not replaced with higher qualities)

I also significantly struggle incomplete torrents, how do I kill them off?

Thank you all :)

discussion Downgrade Radarr App?

Looking for guidance on moving back to the previous version of Radarr. I've searched both Reddit and Discord but am only coming up with video file downgrade discussions, not the app itself.

Edit: I should have been more specific. I'm looking to move from 6.4.4.10685 to 6.3.0.10514.

unsolved Powershell Script api

Does this script only read data? Want to basically check that my renamed folder format and movie file formats match my settings. And then tell me which ones need to still be renamed.

We'll do it directly here without file-generation tools. The script below is designed for Windows PowerShell and connects to Radarr's API.

It checks the folder name against your exact folder format and checks that each movie filename starts with the expected title, year, and TMDb ID. It also reports movies with no file and exports the results to a CSV report.

One limitation: Radarr's optional filename tokens can disappear when their values are empty, so a script cannot reliably validate every optional token just by checking the filename's text. This version checks the fixed naming structure and flags problems without renaming anything.

PowerShell script

Copy this into Notepad and save it as Test-RadarrNaming.ps1.

# Test-RadarrNaming.ps1

Run it

  1. Change $RadarrUrl if Radarr isn't running on this computer.

  2. Replace PASTE_YOUR_RADARR_API_KEY_HERE with your API key.

  3. Open PowerShell in the directory where you saved the script.

  4. Run:

Set-ExecutionPolicy -Scope Process Bypass

.\Test-RadarrNaming.ps1

The CSV report will be saved in the current directory.

Important: The folder check approximates DIL1 using the movie title returned by Radarr. If your titles contain punctuation or other characters that Radarr normalizes differently, some folders may be flagged even when correct. The file check uses Radarr's rename preview, which is preferable to trying to reconstruct all your optional media-information tokens manually.

discussion Made a Tdarr plugin so Radarr stops re-downloading stuff after it’s been transcoded

Not sure how many of you run Tdarr alongside Radarr but this was driving me mad. Tdarr would transcode a movie, Radarr would rescan it, decide it didn’t match my profile or custom formats anymore and go grab it again. Then Tdarr would transcode that one too and the whole thing just looped.

So I wrote a little Tdarr flow plugin to sort it. When Tdarr’s done with a file it tells Radarr to refresh the movie and then unmonitors it. Radarr picks up the new file but leaves it alone after that. It does Sonarr too and only unmonitors that one episode, not the whole show.

It’s just been merged into the official Tdarr plugins as part of the Notify Radarr or Sonarr node (v3.0.0), so you don’t need to install anything extra. Stick the node at the end of your flow, give it your Radarr URL and API key and turn on “Unmonitor after refresh”. It’s off by default so if you already use that node nothing changes.

If your files have {imdb-...} or {tmdb-...} in the name it’ll use those to find the movie, otherwise it just lets Radarr parse the filename like normal.

PR: https://github.com/HaveAGitGat/Tdarr_Plugins/pull/909
Plugin: https://github.com/HaveAGitGat/Tdarr_Plugins/tree/master/FlowPlugins/CommunityFlowPlugins/tools/notifyRadarrOrSonarr/3.0.0

discussion Indian Movies Fake Ratings?

I’ve setup a very strict MDB list. Basically aggregates every major movie reviews sites that have < 2000 ratings with < 7.9 rating.

It’s working pretty great to clear most of the BS. Unfortunately new movies gets higher ratings the first few months before their rating goes back.

What’s really bugging me is the unusual ratio of Indian movies. It’s like 1/5 of the movies are Indian movies which judging by their description, seems like average movies. The more they keep piling up, the more I’m thinking this must be some kind of review abuse.

Otherwise, what’s going on right now in India?

discussion I made Tendarr, a free self-hosted tool that uses your existing Radarr custom format scores to find which files are worth upgrading

Hi all. I've been building a small side project for my own library, and it's at the point where I'd like other Radarr users to try it and tell me what's missing.

My problem: years of big old x264 rips sitting below my quality profile's custom format score. Radarr will upgrade them, but it won't tell me which ones are worth searching for, or what I'd get if I did.

What Tendarr does

  • Lists movies below their quality profile's cutoff format score, filtered by codec (x264/Xvid by default) and size, biggest first. It shows each file's current score and the custom formats it's missing.
  • Check releases runs Radarr's interactive search and shows the best release Radarr would actually accept, plus its size, so you can see the space saved before grabbing anything.
  • Upgrade sends the search to Radarr. Radarr still does all the grabbing and importing with your profiles, indexers and download client. Tendarr never touches files itself.
  • Nothing new to configure: it reads your existing quality profiles and custom format scores.

Also included

  • Sonarr support, per episode
  • An optional "reap" view for movies/shows nobody has watched in years (uses Plex + Tautulli). It's conservative by default: well-rated films are protected, and anything it can't match to the right file is never deletable.
  • Optional scheduled release checks and scheduled upgrades, rate limited for your indexers. Both are off by default.

It's a single Docker container (amd64/arm64) and runs fine on a Synology. MIT licensed, no accounts or tracking; it only talks to your own services.

Repo with screenshots and a compose file: https://github.com/seanhamlin/tendarr

It's early, so I'd really value feedback:

  • Does the upgrade view match how you think about your library?
  • What would stop you from running it?
  • Anything you'd want it to surface?

Bug reports, feature ideas and comments are all welcome.

unsolved How do I access/open an existing movie folder within Radarr? (Win11)

Hello;

I don't seem to be finding how I can open a specific movie folder from within Radarr. I googled and asked AI and tried Reddit but no luck. Hoping that someone knows of a way :)

For example, I can see in Radarr that the movie "Battleship Potemkin" is located at \\XYZ\..\Movies\Battleship Potemkin (1925). Now when I want to access that folder I have been copying the full path (from movie details page) and pasting it in Win Explorer. Sometimes when I manage my library I can be doing that a couple hundred times in a day. Is there somewhere a button to open the movie folder via the Radarr app? Or perhaps exists a smarter way to access my Movies folders quickly?

unsolved Requests coming from Seerr on unreleased movies still downloading

I've set up Seerr for the first time and I was testing it out and I have Radarr set to only download when titles have released, but requests from Seerr on movies that are not yet out digitally are still generating a download. It's always something with the right title but then it's just an .exe file. Is there something I can adjust to fix this and stop it from happening?

Secondary question, is it possible to have Seerr not show the "request" button if I already have something tracked on my Radarr?

solved Adding new movies isn't creating empty folders

I run radarr in a docker container on my Synology. I got a new NAS, and I'm setting Radarr up from scratch there (to correct some things in my old installation). But the new instance isn't creating empty folders when I add a new movie, even though I have that option checked in Media Management. I checked the Root folder mapping, it is correct. I checked the folder permissions, they are correct - the docker use is in a group that has r/W access to that folder. (for example, my Sonarr is working fine with the same user and permissions in the same folder hierarchy). I get no errors, I see nothing in the logs, it just never does anything about creating a new empty folder when I add a movie ...

I had originally thought to import all my movies from the old Radarr, but I figured I only have 6 missing, I didn't need to import 600 old movies (especially since they don't exist on this NAS anyway). I did make an error in the Import List, I mistyped the folder name there. But then I deleted all those movies that were imported, and started over.

The Media Management Root Folder is correct, it's showing the amount of free space. I didn't touch permissions in Media Management. The individual movie point to this same folder. For example, the movie lists as "/data/media/movies/Avengers - Doomsday (2026)", but no such sub-folder exists, and it should be. I even tried restarting the container, no luck.

Pointers to where to go next? I mean, I could always blow away the whole container and /config contents and try again. But it seems like it should be simple to fix, doesn't it?

Thanks

solved Advice: 4K downloads to new root mapping v new instance

I'd like some advice. I have set up Radarr to put it's movies in the usual /data/media/movies. I will use this location for 1080p movies (I use Plex, it looks here). But (previously) I had a separate folder for 4K movies, which was a separate Plex library (reason: couple of my users couldn't handle 4K movies, so they watch the 1080p. Now, I *could* have Plex make multiple resolutions, but my users can barely figure out how to watch, no way they'd be comfortable trying to figure out which resolution to choose. And it was easier to set up a separate folder/library, especially a few years ago, which is when I set this up). My Plex server has enough horsepower/GPU to stream 4K remotely.

So my question: I could set up a 2nd container running Radarr on a different port, and use this instance exclusively for 4K movies. Or would it be better to add a 2nd mapping to the existing Radarr (/4K : /volume1/data/media/movies/4K)?

Bear in mind that I would want 2 copies of *some* movies - 1080p for them, 4K for me. If I went with the 2nd config, could I have a movie set to go to 2 different folders? I don't think so, but I thought I would ask before I started poking around like that.

Setting up a 2nd instance wouldn't be hard, but I'm just wondering which would be best.

Thanks

When Radarr replaces a media file, existing sidecar .srt subtitles are also deleted, despite Radarr recognising their relative paths before the upgrade.

Is there a setting to prevent this during upgrades?

unsolved Radarr seems to ignore custom format scores sometimes

I just finished setting up radarr, and set up a custom format for the release group I prefer. It worked for the first few movies I tried, but one movie keeps getting a different file that has a custom format score of +5, while in the interactive search I can find two correct files with a score of +5000, which it just ignores?

I assume there is a specific metric I am not aware of yet that trumps custom format score. So any advice would be appreciated!

I took advantage of Prime Day and picked up an M6 Mac Mini and have beeen in the process of migrating my entire system over. My media is stored on a WD MyCloud NAS (10tb) and i have an additional seagate harddrive plugged into the USB drive of the NAS (the Seagate Drive). My prior server was a Windows 10 mini PC.

My movies library is spread across the NAS as well as the Seagate drive. Radarr has no issues importing movies to the internal NAS drives but cannot import to the Seagate drive. I am met with an access denied error. I do have read and write access from finder. Radarr is installed as a native mac app (not docker).

discussion Mularr 1.0.0 brings exciting improvements for Sonarr, Radarr and Telegram + Hispashare integration

Mularr 1.0.0 (the radarr indexer and download client for amule and telegram) is out after almost a year of development. This is the first major release and it comes with some pretty big improvements.

The biggest new feature is probably the Hispashare integration for Spanish and original-version content. Mularr can now be used by Sonarr and Radarr to search Hispashare, and the searches are done using the IMDb ID provided by Sonarr/Radarr. This means the search is tied to the exact movie or series instead of relying on title matching, which makes the results much more reliable.

Some of the main changes in 1.0.0:

  • Hispashare integration, with IMDb ID based searches from Sonarr/Radarr
  • Much improved torznab implementarion for Sonarr and Radarr integration
  • RSS feed which can periodically collect new data from telegram and Hispasahre; it can also build a custom feed from *arr wanted list
  • Seed/complete limits for Sonarr and Radarr
  • Improved Telegram integration and channel queue
  • Tabbed searches

I've also tried to keep the upgrade from previous versions as painless as possible, although I'd recommend making a backup of the Mularr volume before upgrading.

I'd be very glad to hear any feedback from you.

https://github.com/joecarl/mularr

This project has taken me almost a year of work, and I’m sharing it because I genuinely believe it could be useful to other people and I’d love to keep growing it.

If it’s not for you, no problem at all just scroll past. And if you have any criticism or suggestions, they’re more than welcome, feedback helps me improve it.

discussion Fake-Entries on tmdb

I'm monitoring movies from certain directors/actors.

In the last two days my watchlist was FLOODED with Verity-related spam-entries ("Fifty Shades of V-rity", "V-rity or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb", etc.) that were FULL of a lot of A-list actors and directors - apparently in order to put it onto as many watchlists like mine as possible.

Is this some absolutely sketchy marketing-campaign that tries to place the name of the movie in as many spots as possible in some sort of gaslighting-attempt? Or what is up with this?

I just started this kind of monitoring a couple of months ago and this is the first time I've seen something like this - is this more common or actually the first time something like that happened?

Has anyone any kind of insight in this phenomenon?

discussion Do you allow upgrades? (TRaSH guides)

I've been using Radarr for a while now with TRaSH guides quality profile and I'm running into the issue that films are being upgraded from something silly like 923000 to 934000. I understand that the underlining 'rule' of TRaSH guides quality profiles is basically 'highest quality possible no matter what', and this is following that exact rule, but it just seems like a waste for what is likely an imperceptible upgrade. I assume a few other people here have been in this exact situation and I'm wondering what you did? Just keep letting it upgrade? Disable upgrades all together? Set a stop upgrading to something like 900000? Cheers.

discussion Rexarr is now on GitHub (and I've got actual contributors now)

Quick update on Rexarr, the self-hosted Blu-ray/DVD ripping and remux transcoding app that plugs into Radarr, Sonarr and Prowlarr: it's finally on GitHub.

GitHub link

Since my first post, a few things have changed:

  • The repo is public, with a Docker image (PUID/PGID support, healthcheck, compose file) plus an optional image with MakeMKV baked in for disc ripping
  • Documentation is up, covering setup, path mappings, transcode profiles and hardware acceleration
  • It has real contributors now. I started this with a fair bit of vibe coding, but it's no longer just that. People who actually know what they're doing are in the codebase, which makes it a lot more trustworthy than a weekend project I built for myself

For anyone who missed the first post, Rexarr handles disc detection and MakeMKV ripping, remux transcoding through ffmpeg with configurable profiles and hardware acceleration, and auto-transcode on import via Radarr/Sonarr webhooks. Full-disc releases (Blu-ray ISO, BDMV, DVD ISO) are next on the roadmap, so Rexarr can rip and import those when no remux exists.

It's still early, so expect rough edges. Issues, feature requests and PRs are all welcome, and I'd love to hear how it behaves on setups different from mine (I'm on a ZimaOS + Proxmox split). The UI follows the Radarr/Sonarr look on purpose, so it should feel familiar if you're already running the arr stack.

Thanks to everyone who gave feedback on the first post.
