Pls help NUNCA USEI UM VR NA VIDA! Vou comprar um PSVR2, mas tenho algumas dúvidas!

Opa, pessoal!

Pro Tip PSVR2 replacement joystick comparison: TMR vs Hall-Effect vs Stock

As you probably already know, the joysticks on the PSVR2 controllers are notoriously fragile. They tend to drift after a few months and need replacement. For the sake of brevity and my own sanity, I’m going to skip the process of how to take apart the controller (there are plenty of tutorial online anyways) and jump straight to component selection. There are currently 2 types of replacements you can buy for the PSVR2, available on both AliExpress and Amazon: the older, black hall-effect pot and the newer, purple TMR pot. While the purple one is often touted as an upgrade to the black one, it straight up DOES NOT FIT the PSVR2 controller. It is an excellent choice for the PS Portal, but NOT for the PSVR2. Do not trust what the seller will tell you. How do I know? Well I tried both. Here are my findings.

2 months ago my left controller suddenly started permanently drifting to the right. Up and down still works, but left and right doesn't. This is a common issue that can only be solved with a joystick replacement. So, following the teardown video by Radio Paralax, I spent 3 hours taking the controller apart (yes if you're doing it for the first time it's really that difficult) and replaced the joystick with the purple aftermarket one from Aliexpress. This is where the horror begins. After putting everything back together, I found out that the joystick cap would grind into the plastic housing on top of it. This makes moving to the left or right very difficult, and if you force the joystick too far left or right it would get stuck. I wasn't gonna take the whole thing apart again, so I contacted a local controller repair technician and scheduled an in-store visit today.

I walked into the store, watched the technician take the whole thing apart, and once he saw the purple joystick he laughed. He said that K-silver, the company behind these aftermarket joysticks, originally developed these joysticks for an ROG handheld. They then revised the PCB connector to an angled one so it can fit the PS Portal controller. Customers bought it, complained that it's too loose, so they came up with an updated TMR model with different joystick height and recenter mechanism. Finally this updated TMR model fits PS Portal perfectly. THE PROBLEM IS, all this time they have also been advertising both the black hall effect one and the updated purple TMR one as suitable replacements for PSVR2 controllers when they really aren't compatible. Yes the stock ALPS pots are similar between the PS Portal and PSVR2, but they have different cap height and different housing, so one that fits the former is not gonna work well on the latter. To demonstrate, he replaced my purple TMR with the black hall-effect, slapped everything back together and let me get a feel for it. This time I indeed was able to draw a much better circle, but the bottom left and right corner feels stuck. He laughed again, pulled the whole thing apart and said you see these 4 metal tabs at the corner? They weren't there with the stock ALPS pot. So you will feel them when you draw a circle, especially the bottom 2 since that's where the cap would scrape against the metal tabs. To draw a perfect circle you would have to cut parts of the cap off. I didn't want that, so the only option left is to replace with another stock ALPS pot. Thankfully he did have a couple, so I went with that.

So to summarize, once your PSVR2 controller begins to drift, there is no perfect replacement. The purple TMR pot straight up doesn't fit and you will lose most of the left/right moveable area. The black hall-effect one that you can find everywhere is a much better fit but does not cover the bottom left and right corner. To make things perfect you have to cut off the corners of the joystick cap (if you don't, this is what you are going to get). If you don't want to do that then stock pots are your only choice. But first they are almost impossible to source, second, they will need another replacement sooner or later. I've attached 3 pictures to show you 1. what drawing a circle looks like with each pot, 2. which part of the pot comes into contact with the cap and 3. if you were to go with the black hall-effect pot, which part of the cap you need to cut off.

News Release date announcement: Zero Caliber 2 is coming on 5 November!

Hey all, we finally have a date: Zero Caliber 2 Remastered is coming to PS VR2 on November 5 worldwide!
You can still wishlist it here: https://store.playstation.com/concept/10019536/

With ZC2, we basically wanted to take what people liked about the first game and push it further. More action, bigger set pieces, more chaos, more explosions… all the good stuff. But at the same time, we really wanted to keep that old-school FPS feel. The kind of shooters we grew up with, where you had a bunch of guns, a campaign, some friends to play with, and that was enough to have a great time.

So that’s still very much what ZC2 is. You can play through the full campaign solo, jump into co-op, mess around in classic PvP modes, unlock a ton of weapons and skins, customize your character, and work through the progression system.

On PS VR2, you'll get:

  • Crisp image quality with native 90 FPS and no reprojection
  • HMD haptics
  • Adaptive triggers for the different weapon categories
  • bHaptics support

So yeah, that’s pretty much it. A cinematic military shooter that takes itself seriously enough to feel immersive, but not so seriously that it forgets games are supposed to be fun.

November 5. Finally. 🙌

P.S: price is still TBD, likely $29.99.

Community WIP (suggestions needed): one payload to play PS4 PS VR games on PS VR2 (jailbroken PS5)

Update:For now, unfortunately it'll have to be a game at a time as I'll have to work through each unique injection of the payload. Sorry about that. More games will be released soon :)

In progress. One payload that runs PS4 PS VR games on PS VR2, any game instead of one at a time like Astro Bot. Astro Bot Rescue Mission now works with it. I need to test games that may have different functions so all possibilities are covered.

(note: this isn't a list of only games that will work, just covering bases with different mechanics, picked so together theoretically they cover everything a PS VR game can use)

• The Playroom VR (separate TV picture)
• Beat Saber (two Move controllers)
• Farpoint (Aim controller)
• PlayStation VR Worlds (DS4 and Move)
• Blood & Truth (two Moves)
• Until Dawn: Rush of Blood (DS4 or Moves)
• Moss (DS4 tracked in the game)
• Tetris Effect
• Resident Evil 7
• WipEout Omega Collection
• Star Wars: Squadrons (flight sticks)
• DiRT Rally (wheel)

If anyone can think of any others that have mechanics I haven't thought of please do let me know, thank you. (I can't test flight sticks or wheels myself so when it comes out it hopefully will work)
It's not out yet, I'll post when there's a first build. Updates go in the PSVR1 thread on the Discord: https://discord.gg/PU9Er858Qp
https://theghostonline.dev

(note to this sub: I read all your comments on the other post, superhot etc. won't be forgotten about dw)

Game Astro Bot Rescue Mission: NOW ON PSVR2

Hi, excited to release this one, took a very long time, failed attempts and I did give up a few times.... but was quite highly requested.

Astro Bot Rescue Mission, the PS4 PS VR game, now plays on PS VR2. The game isn't modified. A payload hooks it, answers its PS VR calls and sends the frames to the headset through the PS5's own VR libraries. This took a lot of painful trial and error and an unfortunately long time having my VR2 headset on trying to check if it works. My PS5VR media app I made was a big help as I already found use of the PSVR2 calls.

Features so far: head tracking, rotation and position, so headbutts work. 60 fps from the game, reprojected to 120 Hz in the headset. The TV shows what the headset shows (not sure how PSVR shows this as it could potentially be a cropped image but now it mirrors the headset screen). Take the headset off and it pauses. The in-game controller follows your DualSense's rotation. Hold L1 and use the d-pad, circle and square to move it. No PS VR, camera or setup dialog needed. Option button recentres the controller.

Jailbroken PS5 13.60 with kstuff, your own CUSA12392 version 1.00 (EU, no updates) are needed. To install, send 'astrobotvr2.elf' to your payload loader, or add it to autoload. Tried to make it as easy as I can. The first start builds a few files from your own console's firmware. That's a one time thing.

Working on: hand tracking, so the controller sits between your palms. I've already got it running in PS5VR, so it's a matter of getting it working inside a PS4 game now.

Massive gratitude for the work from bigmak94 for AstroQuest. Their research on the game is the only reason I thought this was feasible. Wouldn't have attempted this without them.

Download and source: https://theghostonline.dev/theghostonline/AstroBotVR2

If you hit a problem, grab `/data/astrobotvr2/agent.log` and open an issue on the site. I don't have the original PSVR so I'm hoping people can mention any bugs as this is the first build :) would help a lot. Shamless plug to my donation site on the site if anyone wants to support the work, would help a lot with web hosting fees, VPS server and time it took to make this work.

News Are My PS5 Brethren Aware of What's Happening on the PC Side of VR?

There's been an insane revolution in the PC VR modding community lately thanks to the accelerating computational power of AI.

We're seeing a flood of new PC VR mods nearly every day for AAA titles old or new. A VR mod for Bloodborne is the latest one I've played but there are so many new ones I can't keep up. Sure some of them might be a little janky but you also have extremely polished, full VR mods like the one for Titanfall 2 that literally make the game feel as if it was a made for VR release. It's just incredible.

If you love your PSVR2 and you love VR in general you should be thinking of jumping into the PC realm sooner or later. Like a lot of big companies, Sony is abandoning VR so if you want an escape plan that will let you play pretty much any game in VR on your PSVR2s, this is the way ... Not trying to criticize the console scene--I own a PS5 and it's my favorite console by far, but as a famous musician once said, you don't need a weatherman to see which way the wind blows. If you need help transitioning into the PC world there are forums on here with lots of friendly advice. Best thing about PC is it's modular--so you can buy less expensive components to start out with and then individually replace them with higher end stuff down the road. Just my two cents.

Game What is preferred for the RE7 VR game?

- PC VR mod running on PSVR2 on PS5

- Port of the PS4 version

(PC would be using ReFrameworks as a base and would have higher quality, PS4 game is limited in features but is native to playstation)

Pls help big issue

my dad bought me the psvr2 3 years ago used it 20 times max because there are no games to play with it.

Apart from pavlov, HW1 and 2, job simulator, creed and some other games you can't play anything. When I say anything I mean that it's completely FULL of ai games and all of them are bad and some cost alot too.

The first years that i owned the psvr2 I tought to let Sony do its thing and wait so maybe more games could've been released but nothing. I'm a bit disappointed because it costed 750 euros for my dad and i'm not using it anymore.

Any of you know nothing about this?

Appreciate any help or advices.

Pls help Headphone static noise

Got a headset about 3 days ago and I've noticed that whenever I close a game, theres a loud sudden staticky BUZZ noise, just for a second, this wouldn't be an issue if it was just when closing a game, but in Alien Rogue Incursion the sound happens randomly without any warning and I'm worried it might happen on other games,

The headset is brand new so idk if I should try and get a repair/replacement, buy a new pair of headphones or what, any advice?

Pls help Most important accessory for PSVR2

Hi guys,

Recently I bought a PSVR2 and already purchased a few games. What would you guys recommend as first accessory? I'll be buying a charging station for the controllers, magnetic plano lens protector from VR Rock (no prescription since I don't wear glasses) and a CMP2 Globular Cluster? But which one of those 3 that I previously mentioned should I buy first?

Thanks for reading!
