Mod Post First time here? Read this! ~Commenting Etiquette~

1.4k Upvotes

Hi, welcome to the reddit Pole Dance board!
Pole dancing is a great form of art and exercise and our community is very welcoming and open.

It is also something that can put the people doing it in a bit of sensitive, vulnerable situation. Let's face it, you can't wear a lot of clothing while doing this. And a lot of our moves have been built and perfected by lovely strippers working in clubs, so there's inherent sexuality behind it (sometimes, not always).

That being said, I'm rolling out a zero tolerance policy for shitty comments. I get it, the person that posted that picture or video is so hot, their moves are so slick and damn it just did something for you.
Keep it to yourself if you can't express your appreciation without sounding like a vulgar mouth-breather.

Also, coming from my previous thread on crappy comments - If you don't have something nice to say, or you can't phrase your devil's advocate stance or argument without sounding like an asshole, don't post it.

Don't be a creep.
Don't be a jerk.
Don't stripper shame.

No more warnings for people saying inappropriately gross comments, you just get banned. And if you're banned, don't bother asking why - you know why. And no, it won't be overturned. Enjoy the hard work and beautiful shapes people on this board are happy to post. Because I guarantee the more shit comments there are, the less photos there will be for everyone to enjoy.

I try to stay on top of everything, but sometimes things slip by me. Please use the 'Report' button if you spot something I miss and I'll get to it as soon as I can.

Love,
Otter

Mod Post NSFW Tag Reminder

Hello lovelies!
This is just your friendly reminder to please tag your posts NSFW if you are wearing anything less than full-coverage bottoms. Those include things like g-strings, thongs, those super cute high waisted "shorts" that are not at all shorts, etc.

Also, please mark it if you are twerking directly to the camera or other things of that sort.

Since we are technically not a NSFW board, we just ask that you mark posts for the courtesy of others who maybe like to browse in public (I know I've personally clicked on clips while on the train and had to "oop" out of them very quickly.) If you're unsure if what you've posted is NSFW or not, please mark it and I'll change it to non-NSFW if there is no issue.

Thanks for following our guidelines, and thanks, as always, for contributing to our community!
Love,
Otter

EDIT: Update as of April, 2022

Reddit rolled out a new "security" feature that uses automated tools to detect NSFW material and automatically tag it. Announcement post is here.

While this can potentially help me with the manual workload of tagging posts, I noticed it has been automatically flagging a lot of posts that are fine and do not fall within the parameters of NSFW for our board.

I'll be checking the moderation log to see if things are tagged improperly by reddit, but if you think yours has been tagged by mistake, please message me or tag me in your post. Thanks!

Redemption, anyone?

The last time I did that opening trick was August 1st. Since then, I have not been able to do it successfully. This was due to severe overthinking, which lead me to have several falls and I eventually became TERRIFIED of it. I’m talking so bad to the point that I took it out of my routine. Glad to say that as of last night, I can do it again and I am so GD MFN HAPPY!!

Off the pole Pole specific gym routines

Can you share your pole specific gym routines/circuits? Or even a home routine without a pole.

I’ve never gone to the gym (okay I went once) but don’t know where to start with things that will actually help me with pole.

Spot me Shouldermount pain

Post image
• Upvotes

Hello, I've been practicing the shouldermount for 2 years.. It hurts sooo bad, my toes reaching the pole and staying still is the most I can do. Everything after that, It touches my clavicula (I'm scared of snapping it) and I almost fell on my head and tore my skin, etc. It just doesn't want to happen and my shoulders hurt so bad. I can't get down from a crucifix to shouldermount either! I do know that I have stiff shoulders as I work on a computer all day.

Pic of an archer thingy at my house so that my post doesn't get lost, I don't have any pics of my almost shouldermount because I usually practice it at the studio where I can have a spotter 😬

I really want to wear these for a show Saturday but they just snapped. Any glue suggestions? Or should I just wear different shoes? Yes I’ve had them for a year + they are pleasers. I’m not doing anything too crazy in regard to toe box stuff

Victory I learned this brass variation (combo at the end)

It’s nice to know I can rely on just the hooked leg so I can do some cool transitions. Is there a name for this variation? I am wanting to call it dangerous brass since it’s similar to dangerous bird but with a brass leg hook.

Bad smell when doing pole

Hi, this is really awkward and embarrassing but I'm not sure who else to ask. Whenever I take pole classes and start sweating, I start to smell so bad. Normally when I work out and sweat I'm fine, but for some reason during pole I smell awful. It's like a sour musty kind of smell. I shower daily in the morning (I can't do it right before class due to work). I use whole body deodorant on my sweatier areas to try and keep them from sweating. I tried using glycolic acid on my underarms and upper inner thighs. I'm not sure what could be causing this or what to do. I love pole but this is so embarrassing. Has anyone else struggled with this? The poles used in the studio are chrome and I don't know if it's just the way my sweat and body chemistry mix with the pole. Does anyone have any recommendations?

going to well pasties under in case but id prefer my top stayed in place for this if possible. wondering if theres anything others have used that helped keep things in place super well

xpole help

hello all🎀🌸🎀 I am trying to put together this xpole . I got off of Facebook marketplace but as you can see in the video, I’m a little confused if I’m missing a part or putting something together wrong any help at all is super appreciated because I’ve been struggling, especially as it is a older pole model I’m not exactly sure which one it is, but I can’t seem to find an exact manual with the extensions that I have. Thank you.

Beginner pole, I need some advice

Hey all! I am so excited to join this community! All I see as I scroll through this thread is just a bunch of talented people

So I (21 M, from South Africa) just started pole fitness 2 weeks ago and i've fallen in love. But I want to ask for some advice:

  1. I've been training in sports shorts and a T-shirt, but it makes it a bit inconvenient because it doesn't give me enough skin exposure. I've considered short joggers shorts which could work, and tights. My fear with tights is that I need to find a short enough one, but I also don't want my manlyhood in people's faces. People with appendages, would you mind giving some advice on this? (People without a python, you are also welcome to chip in)

  2. I want to save up to get myself a pole for at home, so this might take a while, but I want to get advice on which pole I should get. It has to be rental friendly? Again, I come from South Africa, so if you are as well that would be preferable to get some input. But if not, you could also maybe direct me into what "type" of pole to get. I do not want to swing around and then have the pole dislodge and end up smashing my TV

  3. I sweat A LOT. Nothing more to say, i'm just constantly dripping with sweat, even in winters. Ofc this isn't great for pole. Any advice?
