Rant / Share Feelings Thesis while working

Hi! I'm an Engineering Student sa UP and currently on my 5th year (delayed sa thesis). This is my 2nd 3-units na ng thesis ko and Im expecting to finish this first semester. However, all throughout my college ay sa DOST stipend ako naka depend and since delayed ako, it's been really really hard financially. So, naghanap ako ng night shift wfh work na pasok sa career ko and I'm thankful nakuha ko agad and I'm now working na.

I'm supposed to present my thesis next week. However, I was not able to finish my manuscript and dagdag pa yung galit ng adviser ko saakin. I acknowledged my mistake kasi hindi ako nagpaconsult and update palagi. On my end, I finished the data gathering and would like to consult once na may mapapakita na ko, pero gusto pala niya kahit ongoing ay magpaconsult parin ako. Yeah so I get that and since malapit na pasahan ng manuscript ko, nagcontinue ako mag attempt na tapusin lahat kahit walang guidance from her since di kami maka hanap ng common time.

It really affected my mental health to the point na araw araw nalang ako nanginginig at nagkaka panic attack. Already talked to my parents, and they told me okay lang kahit kelan pa grumadate since may work naman na raw ako (they really cant afford to support my extended yr).

Nung 4 yrs naman sanay akong puyat at todo aral kasi syempre UP 'to eh. Kaso I'm so exhausted, sobrang sagad na ko at naubos na ko sa apat na taon na yun. Every sem feels like survival for me. Lagi akong full units (21 units) every sem, just so I wont extend for a year or more.

Super happy naman ako sa work ko, I love my work. I love the salary, the people, the work itself. I know for sure I can't let this go. I just really cant convince myself na everything will be alright and buhay ay di karera. I'm just so so so disappointed sa sarili ko.

Sorry if mej magulo and may mga maling grammar. This is completely straight from my mind

General Tips/Help/Question [UPLB] Is having 3 scholarship greedy?

Hi! Basically what the title says. I applied to a lot of scholarship at the same time kasi I was thinking na more chance of winning.. I just received the emails na nakuha ako sa tatlong private scholarship and wala naman conflict sa contracts. However, I feel so guilty cuz I feel like hindi ko deserve and there might be other people who also need the scholarship. I am in no way trying to compliment-fish, uunahan ko na kayo. I just feel so guilty na parang nilalamon ako ng konsensya. For reference, I will be receiving 95k per semester included na yung living, travel, and book allowance. Is it okay if I accept it? My parents are currently in debt and the scholarships will really help ease the financial burden sa kanila.

General Tips/Help/Question [UPD] Drop and underload or Stay and get a 5.00 anyways?

So i'm taking this GE Elective that I really can't keep up with anymore. I failed every single quiz, bombed 2 major class tasks, and I'm also lacking in participation since none of the discussions are making sense to me anymore.

I do understand I won't be able to graduate with latin honors anymore, I'm not really aiming for that honestly (although some parts of me want to graduate with laude). I'm more concerned with my DOST scholarship however since they might terminate it due to me under loading.

I'm really torn rn to either just drop the course or just endure it mentally until the end. Peroo ano sa tingin niyo?

General Tips/Help/Question [UPM] Any tips or advice regarding on approaching my professor

Uh, good evening guys. We had a long exam earlier, which bears about 20% of my grade in that course. To be direct, one of the members of the faculty team for the major course, apparently told the class to not use pencil and shade our answers with a ballpen. Ang exact na wording is that "pwede raw ang erasures sa questionnaire but not on the answer sheet" (we regularly use Zipgrade sheets for answering).

So I genuinely wasn't able to realize what they meant to say, so I proceeded to shading everything with a pencil. Pero I also want to say na complex yung mga included topics sa exam namin (like nervous and endocrine systems), and medyo limited yung time (90 minutes for 100 items) so my mind was really focused on getting everything right. Well, I mostly got everything right except sa part na maggamit ng ballpen lol.

Gusto ko ilaban yung proapective grade ko for that exam kasi alam ko sa sarili ko na pinaghirapan ko i-memorize and i-understand lahat ng tinuro nila. So far, sa mga recent exam scores ko, laging satisfactory o maganda yung results ko (like 75%, 93%, and so on). To be fair, sabi sa exam primer na sinend nila is to bring a pen and a pencil, at saka lang nila sinabi to use a pen for shading nung mismong exam na talaga.

I am also aware of the policy regarding grade solicitation. I do not want to ask for bonus points or extra work (since they have clearly stated yung grade breakdown and expected actvities nung orye). Gusto ko lang is ilaban yung ginawa kong effort, and na baka pwede nila i-consider yung answer sheet ko.

I am also really vying to earn a cum laude-standing grade for this subject, and I swear to earth that I always pass my requirements on time (except dun sa isang lab sheet na, in my defense, sobrang liit lang ng bearing sa grade, like 1%). I always spend a lot of effort to make sure I don't sit my exams without knowing and understanding the covered topics.

I anticipate na may mga magrereact negatively, and I understand naman why others would feel like that.

TLDR: I want to approach the lead professor ng A&P faculty team namin and ask respectfully what they would do to entertain my situation, without violating the policy on grade solicitation.

Shifting/Transferring/Admissions [UPD] How hard is it to transfer in UPSE BS ECON from outside of UP system?

• Upvotes

I want to transfer to UPD in the school of economics because it’s a dream and passion of mine. Currently I am in UST and trying to plan out how I can get in through transfer. Here’s what I’ve planned and I want to know more about how it goes, the process, and requirements. (If you’d like to add more please do 🙏)

Plan A: Directly transfer to the UPSE with high GWA and mathematics course grades and hope for the best.

Plan B: Go into an alternative program that’s less strict and study for a year and get the GWA I need to transfer then again to the UPSE.

Tysm!!!

General Tips/Help/Question [UPLB] underload for 2 sems dahil graduating, eligible pa rin ba sa latin honors?

hello! i am a 5th year graduating student. id just like to ask if i were to extend my stay for another sem since hindi pa rin tapos ang thesis ko, maaapprove pa rin po ba ang application ko for underload, with the same reason na graduating student po ako and i have no other courses to take? i mean may rule po ba na bawal mong gamitin twice yung pagiging graduating as a justifiable reason for underloading? i am worried po kasi na matanggal yung eligibility ko for latin honors huhuhu. thank u po!

General Tips/Help/Question [UPD] Who didn't believe in "quota" courses

I know po na lahat quota hehe. May i ask po upd passers if hindi po ninyo inintindi whether popular ung course niyo na piliin ng mga estudyante? In demand in terms of course pick sa application..

No judgement po. Thank u po🥺
