Resource To all the "am I otherkin" posts

It is totally valid to ask questions to lead to your awakening, however no one can say if you are otherkin.

Being otherkin is simply is an identity. Asking "am I otherkin" is like asking "am I trans," nobody but you can say. (Yes I'm ware being otherkin is not a sexuality, it's just an example).

Taking quizzes or questionnaires won't help all that much, as it does not ask the right question. The question is if you identify as anything other than a human, witch can be hard to know. Come time, you will realize if you do or not, but no one can tell you

Question I need?

Hello. I believe this is my first post. I’d like to ask: how do you cope with otherkinphobias, as well as with internal and external aggression? I was in a chat recently where I didn’t get along with the other participants; I often struggle to control my own thoughts. I’ve also encountered insulting replies here in this group. By the way, I’m using a translation tool, so I’m not entirely sure if my phrasing is the most natural or common way to ask this. I’ve frequently run into insults and belittling behavior online (including here on Reddit), and I suspect that might happen under this post, too. To be honest, descriptions of Reddit as "the liveliest platform on the internet" or "the heart of the internet" make me feel a bit uneasy—but I’m going to post this anyway.

I am the Devil. AMA?

hi all. I am the actual, real life Devil. I am unfortunately unable to access my power at the moment, but it is me nonetheless.

my story vastly differs from the biased rumors spread in the bible and other such stories.

ask anything you like.

Discussion Why does it seem like therians are the only popluar type of otherkin/alterhuman

Any time I look for alterhuman or otherkin content. it's always therians. I'm a otherpaw so it's not like I won't watch it. But I wish the other types were more popluar. I already know that I'm a minority in the communtiy. I'm a demihuman (nekomimi). But still.

I kinda feel alone. Low-key feel like I'm still the only one feeling these experinces.

How many times am I gonna listen to streetcat by flavor Foley for some relatability??

Groups Dragonkin, learned as a consequence of spiritual healing and scientific research

Hello 👋 about 2 years ago I was doing spiritual/energy healing work with someone I knew at the time for making progress on healing myself from scoliosis, and through various means I had fairly overt indication of having a dragon form (and I'm only now hearing about otherkin as a topic); visual light-scales and my hands "shape-shifting" (visually), sensationally the jaw/snout and tail.

There's more related to this topic, but those are the most overt experiences. I'm interested in my dragon form, at least as of now, only due to it being an inseparable necessity for my body to heal its structural impairments, and I was hesitant on even engaging with the idea of having a dragon-form/soul/overlay/history until there were years of wacky spiritual/physics experiences, and a load of information on sciences, spirituality, and history (of a lot).

I'd love to chat other people who are also pragmatic about this, and it'd be awesome to find someone who also (seemingly) has ancient-mythology connections. Would be even cooler if you're also in the Central Florida area :)

Question From early mailing lists to ephemeral spaces: Are we losing our collective archives?

Hi everyone,

Thinking back to the roots of the community—from the early 90s mailing lists, Usenet groups (like AHWW), and niche archives that documented non-human experiences—so much foundational writing and history ended up disappearing when older hosts went offline or domains expired.

Today, a huge portion of alterhuman discourse lives inside private Discord servers or centralized social platforms that could be deleted or purged overnight.

On one hand, private and ephemeral spaces protect members' anonymity, which is essential given online scrutiny. On the other hand, we risk our lineage and shared essays vanishing every few years without an immutable archive.

Do you think having a permanent, decentralized, public record benefits the community's longevity, or is impermanence and strict privacy the safer path for non-human identities?

Discussion New to this community

For years now I've felt.. inhuman. I've felt more akin to a robot, machine, or AI than I have to humanity and I'm only just now finding out about the Otherkin community and other communities. However I've looked through here and I don't think i've quite found someone that has expressed similar feelings to me, and I'm wondering if this would be the right place for me to be.

I do believe I identify closer to that of an AI, i'm just a tad confused as to how all this works. Forgive me if what i'm saying sounds out of place! <3

Fluff New to otherkin communtiy after finding out that im a Catgirl/Nekomimi

I prefer identifying with the specific word Nekomimi. I wish to be reincarnated as a nekomomi. I wanna wear gear all day and everyday. It's more than just cosplay, it's my dream self. I picture myself as a cat girl. Can't wait to get my own gear, I'll even get some temporary fangs!! 🐾

I don't feel feline on the inside but I feel so attached and happy with being a nekomimi. It feels like a part of me!!

I don't behave like one though. No hissing or anything like that. But I do get phantom ears sometimes.

You can ask me questions of you want. I'm a yapper

Discussion Musickins, let’s talk experiences!

Hello, my name is Jonas, and I kin 3 different Weezer albums. That being Songs From The Black Hole, Pinkerton, and Weezer (aka the blue album). It’s a very strange experience. Listening to a song or an album and simply thinking, “Yeah. That’s me.” It’s really not something that many people can relate to, and although it’s a strange experience, it’s also a beautiful one. To see yourself so deeply and wholly in an art form such as music, I see it as a gift. To be able to confidently express myself in this way online, I am truly grateful. I want to hear more experiences from fellow songkins or musickins. How did you discover it? How do you feel about it? What music/album/song do you kin exactly? Let’s talk about that here.

Rant My parents sense of accepted is skewed.

I have a tail and my mom bought with me cat ears (while not understanding it at all.) and a mask.

It wasn't an animal mask no it was a completly normal black mask covering my mouth and nose with a filter.

When it arived i started wearing it at home. (Its a kind of gear for me) My mom threatened that my dad would get rid of it if i wear it home and school! Even worse would it be she promised! The same person who saw me wearing a tail for MONTHS and said nothing isn't alright with me wearing a mask. Dad had a very simelar negative reaction (without the threaths) and kept asking if its because of an influencer even though i first: don't watch them, second: haven't seen one in 10 months and third: i never copied other people even less influencer. My dad keps blaming all my problems on it.

BECAUSE WELL SORRY THAT I LEARNED I CAN CARE FOR MYSELVES AND AREN'T BLIND TO IT ANYMORE DAD.

I have more such problems and i plan to talk them out with my parents like explaining alterhumanity, genderfluidity, plurality and the fact that the kid they knew didn't know who they themselves where so they should not think of my previos self (ves) as my true me.

Can you tell me how you're coming out worked and don't worry, i have a text written down as an introduction to all the conversation, and their reaction will be a test if they failed i keep stuff to myselves.

I began writing this because their sense of not allowed/accepted is weird and now everything else also came out... well we needed it.

Feel free to ask questions about me!

This is me, I drew a character sheet of myself!

Feel free to ask questions because I recently spent a day looking into this identity, and I have a lot of memories and knowledge about myself and my species.

I am fae adjacent but not a fae myself, and I am the only member of my species as far as I know

Question and Discussion I feel as though I'm otherkin, what have you all done to embrace that and acknowledge it?

(This is a little bit of an informational dump mainly because I'm excited and interested to communicate with you all about things involving otherkin and such)

In 2024 I identified as nonbinary, but it wasn't just "nonbinary." It was that I felt as though my soul, me, wasn't attached to gender, and that I identified with my unlimited soul. I stopped identifying as nonbinary and now identify as genderqueer for the same reasons just slightly altered. I identify as genderqueer because I believe my soul is not nothing, is not no gender or nothing at all, but instead is everything at once, including things that aren't necessarily gender. It's hard to explain this to someone, but when my friend told me about "otherkin" during a random conversation one day, I felt as though it described me well. Since 2020 I've had a long battle of who I was. I am constantly everchanging, going from one place to the other, used to be one identity to the other, one style of fashion to the other, and it affected my life negatively never knowing who I was. Around sometime this year I felt comfortable embracing every gender instead of being stuck as just my own, because my soul is too expansive for this temporary body and I need to be able to feel like the restrictions are loose for once. For me, my soul is this light blue energy that sparkles like the night sky.

How have you all implemented being otherkin into your life? Whether it be changing your pronouns or creating a mask like therians and other paw do, or maybe have a banner in your room you created. I would like to know ways you implemented yours into your life to draw inspiration from as I figure out my own journey.

Now, on a slightly unrelated note, I've always been fascinated by therians or other paws. I love the fact that people have been able to find out who they are and their connection to something specific that doesn't make up them but instead IS them. I don't have an intense connection to any animal specifically, and as a matter of fact its hard for me to find intense connections to a lot of the things I already love. I will say though, I wish for the life of me that I had wings. To fly like a fairy within a forest and be able to sleep in a tree (not in a tree house, in an actual tree) and bathe in a cold lake with an intense waterfall sounds like an absolute dream for me. The only reason I never tie myself to the label of being a fairy and even going to the extent of using fae/faer pronouns is due to the fact that many Celtic people do not like the usage of fae outside of their community (closed practice). It is offensive to use those pronouns, to work with the fae, or to simply think of yourself as that, which is why I usually shrug off the label and never acknowledge myself as such. I could, however, think of myself as a nymph instead. I also have this attachment to stars, I use them as a world in my story. I love looking outside and seeing stars. Though I've never pursued learning about them, stars themselves are just something wonderful to look at.

anyways, thank you for reading my ramble about these things. It is really nice to meet you all :)

Question What would someone who is human, but disconnected from their humanity, be called?

So I've looked it up (obviously) and my first thought was quasihuman but that's linked to AI, not otherkinity. Then I looked up demigender and although one of the definitions is "people who have lost touch with their humanity", the word has two other definitions : humanoïd fantasy types (elves, dwarves, orcs), and forms which are in-between human and kin.

Are there any other terms I'm unaware of? If not, I'll default to demihuman, but it bugs me a little that it has two other definitions.

Question Here's my issue

How and where can i talk about nsfw otherkin issues? i wish this community allowed NSFW questions or rants, but no xenogender, otherkin community allows that i wish we we're more organized. There's an adult otherkin subredit that doesn't allow problematic topics(zoos, packers, dating, hotakes) or hot topics. I also wish we could discuss certain things that i probably can't say here relating to violent impluses as a by-product of being otherkin

Im not a zoo, btw

If anyone wants to create a discord for these topics feel free too
