Discussion 2027 Oscar - Best Documentary

It’s very obvious Disney were going all in on DLBIA for the best documentary Oscar.

I can’t believe all hope of that was shattered overnight by Nathan Fielder’s new documentary about Elizabeth Holmes.

The film industry is crazy! Thoughts?

News/Rumours The Most Confusing Six Minutes in "Morning Glory"

You sit down, put your headphones on and press play on the best-selling album during the 90s in the UK. Your adrenaline is through the ceiling, you can't avoid the feeling of standing up and singing with a hand on your heart after "Hello", "Roll with It" but specially, of course, after the pair of the songs that defined a generation that would fill the same stadium nowadays a whole week in a row just for Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger and obviously for completely justified reasons as there's not a lot more hymns like these out there who can transmit epicity, emotion and coolness in that simple manner.

You hear the first thirty seconds of the track and instantly you realise there's something different but mainly, weird. "Where's the push?" "Why don't I want to get a parka and sing out my soul?" And it's because there's no need to do that with "Hey Now!". The tracks just cuts off all the invigorating grandiloquence we heard until this point to take us in a different trip.

I know a lot of fans could disagree with me, but Hey Now! is the most interesting point of the album as it falls in a category that any other Oasis' track does and I can't even tell what that would be, It's not an emotional ballad (Don't Go Away, Stop Crying...) not an universal hymn (Don't Look Back..., Some Might Say) so what is it?

"I hitched a ride with my soul by the side of the road
Just as the sky turned black
I took a walk with my fame down memory lane
I never did find my way back"

Even the first verses are an oddity but they share one thing with the rest of the record and it's the power. Noel knows how to do one thing as a few other songwriters only can and it's to write lines that sound as an indisputable universal truth although the lyrics are about "a dog itchin' in the kitchen once again" and that's his biggest strength. Hey Now! doesn't make you feel cooler or powerful, it's a quiet walk in the park while you weight up some thoughts at the sound of the characteristic wall of guitars of the album that plays the same chords again and again in a dreamlike fashion that, somehow, doesn't get boring or heavy as the minutes pass, it adds a strange psychedelic bit to the track.

"Feel no shame
'Cause time's no chain
Feel no shame"

If there's an element that connects the song to every single other track in the album is the way the chorus just get stuck in your head decades later. Even with one as short and generic as this, Noel just manages to do it. The rest of the lyrics feels as a group of oneiric scenes that transmit some sense of reflection that I can't decipher and I guess no one can. I'm aware that some people could argue that this is the low point of the album but I see it as a strange piece in the discography of the band that it's worth an analysis just for its uniqueness.

Thanks for reading!

Review Dlbia doc was the worst thing with oasis since their last tour.

Cut it 30 min shorter on the behalf of all fans, I dont care about the fans. Neither does them care about me. I didn’t go to the show to watch the fans, and I didn’t need it in se documentary.

If it needs to focus on the fans, zoom out and focus on the movement of fans. Not their individual story’s.

Nothing about their return to Manchester? No city footage of Manchester or London with the fans in masses?

The breakup, the wait, the news, the wait, the disbelief from both fans and band members, their return and resurrection. That’s it.

Not “my dog is named Sally because of a song that means a lot to me”

Live ‘27 How best to re-introduce my US buddy to Oasis

British guy here and managed to convince my new US buddy to go to the Vegas show with me next year.

He’s heard of a few of their songs I would imagine it along the same lines as what’s posted here for Americans: https://www.reddit.com/r/oasis/s/nUVDXkvof8

So I wondering what would be the best way to get him familiar with their back catalog.

I’m half thinking to send him a link to the Masterplan album to experience the amazing b-sides from the singles of the first 2 albums, then add a select few songs from DM and MG.

I know we’re all different and appreciate music in different ways, but any tips you may have would be appreciated!

I found this shirt at a thrift store a few years ago before the resurgence in popularity. I can’t find any information about it but it seems like they never do shirts with the full band. Anyone know if it has any value?
