"Nothing matters" doesn't magically stop things from hurting right now.

I constantly see posts here saying "nothing matters."

But if you are in a deep depression? It matters now.
If you are in severe physical pain? It matters now.

All of it matters intensely for a period of time. It fucking sucks to have to endure it, even if it’s only for a short duration and ultimately doesn't matter to the universe in the grand end. Stop using "nothing matters" to dismiss immediate, lived suffering

Pessimistic Nihilism Having children is a coping mechanism for death

I’m not an antinatalist by any means, but I think one of the reasons people have children is avoid coming face to face with the fact that when they’re gone, that’s the end of their identity.

Lots of people want to leave something behind. They want to have a legacy and be remembered. They view their children as the continuation of their name or their tribe. If they don’t procreate, then it’s a very cold slap in the face that everything ends with you.

The pathetic perpetuating state of the world

The average person is so conditioned that their entire existence revolves around working themselves to death, paying bills, chasing cheap dopamines through doomscrolling or silly conversations or acting like a fool and being scared shitless of losing the little scraps they've managed to get and assign value to them so much they murder each other...

Keep them exhausted enough to never think, not that most of them are apparently capable of actually thinking for themselves even when they aren't exhausted,

entertained enough to never question, and terrified enough to never step out of line and so they gaslight and brainwash themselves and others to think THIS IS ALL IT.. THIS IS LIFE...

because they are too busy running towards that status-quo, and keep themselves busy chasing those sweet sweet pleasures...

those who possess all the materialistic things or the status-quo, considered an ABSOLUTE WINNER... it's obvious! THIS IS ALL IT IS!!! Everyone are conditioned to believe this is it through schools and movies and entertainment

These relationships, this so-called love, these stupid fantasies it’s all bullshit built absolutely around money, status, possessions, and unrealistic fake crap... Funny how all that love is absent or magically disappears when you have none of that shit to offer.

People will spend hours fighting strangers online, worshiping celebrities, consuming endless garbage, and chasing the next cheap hit of happiness, every...... single...... day....... LIKE A GROUNDHOG's DAY.. but ask them to question the very system they're trapped in? Suddenly, nobody has a clue, and nobody gives a shit, because "IT IS WHAT IS"

And even the ones who see through the bullshit are too broke, too tired, too isolated, or too powerless to do anything meaningful about it.

That's the sick joke. Everyone knows something is up, yet everyone keeps playing along because they have rent to pay and a life to somehow survive.

The people at the top don't even need to control every thing. They just need the rest of us divided, distracted, desperate, and too busy surviving to organize.

And the most pathetic part? People defend the very conditions that are grinding them into dust, then laugh and begin throwing advises for mental health at anyone who dares to question them.

At this point, why even would the show runners be worried? The machine keeps running, the money keeps flowing, and everyone goes right back into it without a single introspection.... NONE AT ALL.

You don't even need to lock people in a cage when you've built a world where they're too exhausted and brainwashed to even look for the door.

Human being are hierarchal by nature

Now I’m not saying all humans are evil and hierarchal, but most are, and I feel like the majority of people seem to think that human nature is good and we are one revolution away from utopia, but I disagree. Even in leftist spaces, people want to fight against people who oppress them, but they rarely advocate for people who are below them in the social hierarchy (I'm not saying all do this). The majority of people say 'eat the rich' while forgetting that they are the rich as well, according to homeless people and people who live in developing countries, which are exploited to make people in first world countries lives better. Many feminists criticize the makeup and beauty industry for creating unrealistic beauty standards, which is okay, but they rarely mention the fact that animals and women and children from the global south are being exploited by the makeup industry, and for example, in my country (Albania), there are lots of people protesting against the government now , which I think it’s a good thing to do but most of them never talk about the oppression of women, Roma people, children and LGBTQ people in our communities, and they are treated much worse here than in the West. Also, many Western people advocate for collectivism without looking into collectivist communities and seeing how toxic and oppressive they are because they think human nature is good, and also the fact that social hierarchy happens as early as middle school. Sorry for making it personal, but also the fact that many feminists didn’t show me compassion for experiencing honor based abuse from my father just because they can’t relate to it, and sorry for my rambling and sorry that it isn’t so well worded

Optimistic Nihilism The illusory personal perspective of the infinity of life. For us, life is eternal.

Hello, my name is Bojan Jovanović. I am a law student at the University of Belgrade, and this is my unpopular opinion: The fear of death is one of man's greatest fears, yet paradoxically, many long for death because they fear life even more. Thus, this claim I have made can be both hell and heaven, depending on how you view life and the kind of life you live. But the fact that the consciousness belonging to you will never experience death creates the illusion that you are alive forever—because there is no end for you, as you will never experience that end.

Discussion I prefer generational wealth or not being born.

I prefer generational wealth or not being born.

Because in case of job, if you are academicaly intelligent and pursue commercial courses like management or engineering, then only you will get good job with good pay.

In small scale buissness, the rate of raw materials are increasing and most of the time the rates of your product doesnt increase in that ratio. So your profit margin decreases.

There is no place for middle class people in this world.

What are your views ?

I fear that when I die, I won't be dead forever. We might be reborn, given the pattern of cycles in the universe.

Does anyone else feel like they weren't born to live the life society expects them to live ?

Sometimes I wonder what the meaning of life actually is.

We're living on a planet floating somewhere in this enormous universe. There are billions of stars, countless galaxies, black holes, oceans, mountains, forests, and so many things we haven't even discovered yet. And somehow, we've built our entire lives around money, jobs, status, religion, caste, competition, and proving ourselves to other people.

Don't get me wrong. Society has its purpose. We need each other. But sometimes I feel like we've forgotten why we created it in the first place.

Why does life have to follow the same pattern for everyone? Study, get a job, earn money, buy a house, build a family, prove that you're successful, and keep repeating the cycle until you retire.

Who decided this is what a successful life should look like? And why are we so afraid of choosing something different?

Sometimes I feel like society is an algorithm designed by humans, but somewhere along the way, we became the puppets following its instructions. We're so busy trying to become the person everyone expects us to be that we barely get time to discover who we actually are.

And the strange thing is, I don't even dream of becoming rich or famous.

I want to travel the world. I want to walk through forests I've never seen before, feel the cold air in the mountains of Switzerland, sit beside an ocean for hours, and watch the waves without thinking about anything.

I want to meet people from different countries, understand their lives, listen to their stories, and use my skills to help them whenever I can.

Imagine standing alone on a beach, with nobody around. For a moment, you imagine you're on another planet, looking at an unfamiliar world for the first time. The waves are moving, the wind is blowing, and everything feels so strange and beautiful that you almost forget the world you came from.

Or imagine sitting on a mountain, surrounded by snow, with tears in your eyes because the view is so beautiful that you can't even explain what you're feeling.

I don't know how to describe that feeling properly. It's not exactly happiness or sadness. It's something else. It's like, for that moment, you're not thinking about your past, your future, your responsibilities, or what anyone expects from you. You're simply alive.

And honestly, I think that's what I want from life.

I don't need a huge house. I don't need to prove that I'm better than anyone. I don't even know if I want to spend my entire life chasing things that society tells me I should want.

I'd rather spend ten years exploring this world, experiencing different cultures, helping people, and creating memories that actually mean something to me.

One day, I'll become stardust again anyway. The universe existed long before me, and it will continue to exist long after I'm gone.

So why am I supposed to spend this incredibly brief existence worrying so much about social expectations and other people's opinions?

I don't have the answers. I'm not saying everyone should abandon their responsibilities or live the way I want to live. Maybe a conventional life genuinely makes some people happy, and there's nothing wrong with that.

But I can't stop wondering whether we're actually living or just following a script someone else wrote for us.

Lately, I've also been feeling strangely empty. Not exactly sad, not exactly happy. Just going through the days without feeling much of anything. And sometimes, thinking about how enormous and beautiful this universe is makes my everyday life feel so small.

Maybe I'm overthinking everything. Maybe I'm just trying to figure out what matters to me.

But does anyone else feel this way?

Have you ever looked at the ocean, the mountains, or the night sky and wondered why we're so caught up in the little worlds we've created for ourselves?

If you had complete freedom, without financial pressure or society's expectations, what would you actually do with your life?

I genuinely want to hear your thoughts.

Purpose of life is seeking a sense of belonging

I have spent a long time wondering what I really want from life. Happiness is just a word. Joy feels good, but only for a moment. Even "good" ends up being average, and "bad" can be fun but comes with guilt. None of these gives a lasting answer.
The one thing that seems to fit most of these boxes is a sense of belonging. When you put your head down and build a career, that sense slowly grows. People start to need you, and being needed is comforting. I think that is what we are really after.
This is also why wealth appeals to people. The richer you get, the harder it is for anyone to make you irrelevant. The opposite shows the same thing: nothing breaks a person faster than making them feel ostracised.
A Rolls-Royce means nothing on a barren island. In the same way, doing your job well when no one is watching feels empty. We need society to reward us, accept us, and keep validating us.
I believe that is our ultimate purpose.

We pick up small validations, like cracking a joke or watching a movie, because they give us something to discuss later. Maybe not today, but I anticipate that two years from now, it might make for a useful conversation that buys me that sense of belonging. Being cool is like a premium subscription to belonging.
_______

It's just a thought I had. Worth sharing?

The last line itself reflects a fear of being rejected and, deep down, a fear of being ostracised. Thinking more about it will mostly drive me insane. I see it everywhere.

Pessimistic Nihilism ESSAY - On the Disappointing Nature of Existence.

One's lived experience warrants an overwhelmingly sufficient amount of evidence to conclude the disappointing nature of existence; that is, even the most accomplished and fervently fulfilled man strikes a most sorrowful sentiment of despair. This truth is abundantly clear to those who have sobered their mind to reality and grown wearisome to the excitements of youth, bearing a habitually haggard expression and discarding the trivial hallucinations of hope. Such despair can be envisioned as if each man is expressed in existence as a tattered tombstone formed tarnished out of wood, only for his introspective mind to catch aflame and strike a scorching decay upon his tethered totem pole. This image most accurately represents the true condition of all individuals, for we, as human beings existent, are as valuable as wood; that is, the significance of our very being is as dispensable as the lumber scorched before our eyes.

This valueless nature of man is fully realized in his reflective demeanor put on by the long waking moments of life, the ever-present plaguing pressure of time, and the perpetual provoking of man's ponderous mind. How ineptly does man's defense of innocence fall at the pounding prodding precipitous of nature? And with what end does this reach? For even the wisdom of experience cannot penetrate the perennially null condition present in personhood.

Furthermore, this reflective demeanor directly causes the darkened despair bequeathed into the domain of introspection, meaning that the awareness brought about through age and experience constitutes a void-full abyss of hope, only found within the realization of our futility. This can be more aptly understood through the illustration I presented before, for just as the totem pole represents the being of man, and the fire represents the realization of his nihility, so does the inevitable decay represent the inevitable loss of hope. This means that man's loss of hope is directly resultant from a realization of his vanity, for just as the widow mourns at the realization of her husband's demise, or a leader bereaves at the realized volume of fallen men, so does mankind bereave the realized invaluable nature of his being, and therefore constitutes the desolate despair of age.

Tired

I’m just tired of living. Tired of fighting, getting disappointed. What’s the point of living if life is just getting harder each day? Everything is temporary. Every one of us is going to die anyway
