Ask r/Nairobi Female Best Friend

I have been seeing this guy for a couple of weeks now and the banter is good, the chemistry in and out of the bedroom is chef's kiss 🔥

Last weekend, we were out grabbing drinks when his female best friend calls and turns out she wasnt too far away and decided to join us. Now I don't mind men with female friends, it's healthy cause you need a friend who can give you a woman's perspective, especially when you're in a romantic relationship. It also means other women view you as a safe space. For me, it's actually a red flag if you don't have female friends in your circle.

Let me tell you when this babe walked, firstly she's stunning 😍, secondly we LOOK ALIKE. She's the baddie, boujee version of me and i am the cutesy, whimsical version of her. When I saw her, a thought entered my mind that maybe he's dating me cause he can't get with her. Cause let me tell you guys, we look like sisters.

The good thing is that she is the sweetest person and I didn't get any weird vibes from her end. But now I am questioning whether he's type is informed by his female bestie. Is he just looking for the attainable version of her? Or am I self sabotaging?

Thoughts? Advice? I have been overthinking all week.

Video Do Not Loose Your Autonomy Because of Social Media Narratives.

Listen to what this lady says. She articulates it perfectly.

Right now , we live in a world where being an independent thinker is an offense to most people. Most people would rather conform to a Hive mindset and if you dare attack their collective belief , you'll get insulted a hundred times over.

People conforming to Social Media Narratives is especially common nowadays.

A social media influencer says something and suddenly they're right and people stop thinking for themselves.

You watch a couple of "LOYALTY TEST" videos and start thinking the opposite gender is bad because they never post people who are loyal . Social media will always amplify the negative because people like drama and the only way to get it is to post negativity about relationships, marriage , politics and much more , if you open your eyes you'll see it.

Low quality post She mad at me

We were just chilling and all then somehow the conversation shifted to politics and says that sifuna is not a viable candidate. I proceed to tell her that he actually is but responds by saying that she has never seen anything that sifuna does. So I asked her if she did history and I proceed to explain to her that a senator can't come and do a governor's job.

So we get into this back and forth and now the tension is so thick you could cut it. Apparently she didn't like how I was talking to her like a 'child' wueh ni wantam though

Random I pity her parents. Being a parent is hard. Imagine raising a daughter, only for her to murder someone and then take her own life. Now imagine raising your son, only for him to be murdered by his girlfriend.

Random Nairobians, why don't we knock before entering?

One thing I've found so weird after being in Nairobi is how people just walk into your office without knocking or even waiting to be welcomed. 😭😂

In Mombasa, lazima mtu aseme “Hodi!” and wait for you to say “Karibu” before entering. Hata kwa office, choo, ama someone’s personal space, you knock first!

But huku Nairobi, mtu anaingia tu fwaaa like they own the place. 😂😭

Is knocking before entering not a thing here or have I just been unlucky with the people I meet? Because personally, I find it basic manners and a way of respecting someone’s privacy.

Nairobians, explain yourselves.

Insightful I think i now understand the psychology of cheap clients

• Upvotes

On my routine walk , nilipitia kwa mathe wa njugu as usual she has the packed ones za 50 and 100 shillings.
This time I forgot my wallet and i had left my phone on charging. I had exactly 100 shillings cash.

While picking the nuts I caught myself doing something i don't usually do,
Trying to pick the sachet with best looking and more nuts, less air and better quality. Heck i even felt the urge to leverage being a chronic customer to burgain aniuzie na 80 shillings. (I didn't.)

Then it dawned on me as i was getting home:
I felt that because i was giving 100% of what I had at the moment.

And I honestly think this is a small scale duplicate of other situations in business. You want to pay for something that costs 1m , if you have 1.1m liquid mbele nyuma you are still going to be that client.

When the price a negligable percentage of your liquid capital you tend to be less exploitative and even nicer in order to influence better quality.

Sisemi nataka cheap clients sasa - Because I make custom business systems - But I now understand from their POV. We always talk about charging more , avoiding cheapies , but nobody explains the actual science behind those advises.

Low quality post Religion,, life,, sexuality,, I don't even know what to use as a title

• Upvotes

Okay, so 21M here, I don't know if the title represents my current situation accurately, but I guess let me work with that.

It has been long ever since I posted,na I can't see the nsfw tag, although hakuna any sexual details.

So 2026 has been sorting of nice at the start, I actually embraced hooking up, so I raked up some numbers, got a hiv scare, then I took a break, although I started taking my wellbeing seriously, got on prep. Anyway this is just a slight intro I'm trying to avoid focusing on that.

So life was good, until it wasn't, I was found with an academic disciplinary case, I got suspended, ilikuwa last exam of campus btw, last paper, how it happened it's just funny. Anyway afterwards I started spiralling, loosing my mind, feeling hopeless juu I'm like I just ruined my entire life.

Now you are wondering how does religion come in here. So basically I always some very controversial views on God, and religion, however at the start of this year I started telling a friend how I have a bad feeling that this year won't end without Him doing something bad to me. Like I just had that feeling Hadi I just waited for the moment.

So when I got in trouble, I actually told my mum that despite first time academic offences resulting in a warning letter, I was going to get a suspension, like I just had that feeling. Alafu pia my mum was not a big fun of what I was doing, she said it's just a diploma🥲. She repeated that when I told her about the verdict.

Now after the decision I had some issues with stima at my place, so I basically stayed in darkness and the overthinking started, I was actually loosing my mind, I decided to use the mandatory counselling the school had said I must attend to actually talk about what I was going through. I'm still doing the sessions.

So my mum is super religious, like so religious I told her that I thank God she didn't know Mackenzie, or else 😂. Anyway she convinced me to attend some retreat at a place in thika, so I was like let me try it,I attended and that's why my religion issues became so serious. Like I literally cried and stuff wondering why I was going through what I was going through, when I left that place I was only in a worse place,, came back I had taken 3 months break from hooking up, and a month from drugs, after I just went back to all those stuff. After I actually sort of ended a talking stage I was having, and I had already fallen in love.Bytha my prayer petition at that place in thika was if God could just take me, and avoid the shame of suicide on my mum🥲.

I actually came out to my mum after I left thika, basically everything from me being gay to drugs,, she was pissed about the drugs, but honestly she was very chill on my sexuality.we blamed the devil of course

I had promised myself I won't go back to that place but there's a Thursday my global pay wasn't working, Google had actually deactivated my account, I started spiralling, like from a payment issue to just wishing I could just d*e. So I asked for fare, went back, of course my mental health got worse nikiwa in that place, I thought being away from my phone would help me think, try journaling and try and answer some of the questions asked by my counsellor, I feel like I'm wasting her time, 🥲.so yeah I needed some answers. I tried exploring my sexuality and views on religion, and trying to see what God has done for me, basically I could any name 4 things, and that's basically because my mum prayed too I guess. So anything on my own, nothing,, I remember in form 2, when I realised something was wrong with me, I prayed, fasted, like alot, with no change.

Anyway huko thika, I actually crushed on someone, yes tukiwa church, 🥲🥲,I can't even explain it, I'm literally begging God why ama even thinking about such during kitu kama adoration 😭.

Anyway I finished the retreat, my mental health is just worse, although I have a session with my therapist Leo so maybe that will help. I've literally ended everything I had, and going back home. Some part of me doesn't want to go back home, last year I went for less than 7 days, na I was back huku before new year, like even when I go home I always opt to go to a relatives place, no specific reason, niliulizwa why na the counsellor na I honestly couldn't answer that.

Anyway, so I have a lot of questions,I'm literally questioning everything .

Anyway I just needed to rant, I don't know if anything I have written makes sense, 🥲🥲🥲. sorry if you feel I have wasted your time.
