wondering what it will be like when they try growing over the tips because atm the effort is all about covering the nail bed but yeah. I think to get more visible results I’ll have to wait a lot longer
QUESTION: becuase my nail beds are growing And strengthening under the nail they are getting a bit discoloured. shall I just wait for it all to grow in? I think it’s just the color of the nail. I am getting a bit self conscious about that
Still biting thumbs if I need to

I stopped biting my nails and the skin around it one month ago. Will my nails reattach with the skin on the sides?

I’ve been biting my nails since childhood. I used to stop for months and grow them out, but throughout 2025 and this year, I struggled to quit no matter how hard I tried. I’d also bite the skin around my nails and eat it. And that was another difficult habit to break.
About 4-5 months ago, I finally committed to quitting, and within a week, I started seeing progress. A month and a half later, my nails had grown so much that I could shape and trim them(as u can see in the picture) I was genuinely over the moon to finally break the habit.
But my family kept commenting on how long my nails were and how weird their shape looked. I cut them short several times, but even then, they wanted them shorter. So I cut them really short, and just like that, I started biting them all over again. I was so fucking frustrated.
But I’m starting over. Today is October 19, 2026, and I’m giving myself another month. I’ll be back on November 19 to share my progress. This time, I’m doing it for myself. Wish me luck! 🤞

45 years of nail biting and I've stopped nearly 3 weeks ago. What can I do to help myself. I can't use the nail biting solution. I need help with how to look after them, how to help my nail beds, and how to strengthen them. TIA

Im 21F, and would greatly appreciate hearing an outsiders opinion.
My great aunt just told me, to my face, that nail biting is one of the things that she finds really disgusting. I've bitten my nails since I was a toddler, and my entire family knows that. I've tried everything over the counter to stop, but its never worked. She said it while I was biting my nails, and she said it straight to my face. Am I wrong for thinking that was a bit cruel? I know better than anyone that it's kinda disgusting, but still... I don't know it just felt straight up cruel, thats honestly the best way i can put it. Am i maybe being to sensitive?
Thank you for reading.

I don’t have many pictures before this year but growing up I was a rlly bad nail biter and sometime end of last year I made myself stop biting completely
First pic is January this year probably 3 months bite free ? I rmb i was happy with them because usually all I would have on my hands were remnants of nail beds so seeing actually nail was joyful
In between then and now I’ve relapsed a few times, what helped me personally was making them look pretty so I started wearing nail polish
I’ve had my nails coloured for the past 4-5 months almost now and today the colour was chipping, instead of booking an appointment I decided to take em off at home and I’m very happy with them
Nail beds still a bit wonky but nothing time won’t fix :)

I’ve always been a chronic nail biter (anxiety, yay!)
Like I’ve genuinely been biting my nails for as long as I can remember, since I was 5 or 6 maybe. When I was about 16-17 I stopped for a little bit and my nails actually grew out, and then exam stress started getting to me and I started again. I’m also very fidgety so when I have nothing to toy with I bite.
I’m 19 now and not as anxious but I still feel the urge; The only time i don’t bite is when I have my nails done/press ons and I physically can’t. I just started prying off my acrylics and I’m already at it. Not exactly biting, I’ve started doing this thing where i just scrape my teeth across them to simulate it but I always bite anyway.
Does anyone have any suggestions for how they stopped? Maybe was to supplement the fidgeting? would appreciate it cause i’m so tired of my nails being weak and looking messed up all the time
💕

I just want to quit this habit. I have done this 2-3 times in the past but relapse happen. I don’t know if I will be able to do this, but today on 18/10/26, I am starting it again.

I had stopped for like a whole month and they had grown back nicely. But as always, I end up biting them again when I'm sad or stressed. This has been my cycle since my teenage years.
I'm really bummed and it feels like I'll never be able to have nice nails. It's like it'll always come back to this. It's not even just that it's ugly, it's that it hurts🫣
What do you guys do instead of biting your nails when life isn't fun?

They're not beautiful
I've found only false nails can help me
But, they ruin my natural nail.
So
... Can I have some tips?

39 years into life, I've finally made the most progress I've ever made. I don't have a good before photo because I never wanted photos of my hands, but i was a chronic anxiety nail and cuticle biter. I had press ons at the end of May for a work event and my natural nails grew out just a little, so I decided it was the time to finally try to kick it. Taking care of them with nail strengthener and keeping them polished has definitely helped- once they started to look nice the positive reinforcement is finally what got me to stop 😅

While building my TrichoTrack app (it also has a nail biting mode) i am struggeling with the following problem:
The app should be as private possible. This is what i would expect from an app that works with health data like we have with Trich / BFRB.
But on the other side to make my app better i need diverse data to compare different types of nail biters. right now i only have my patterns and patterns i simulate for behaviours i do not have..
My idea is to implement a way to actively permit the app to send anonymous data to my server.
So the question in the caption is important, would you send your tracking data to an app to improve the app?

I’ve been a life long nail biter and today I finally got over myself and went to a nail salon to help me :) thank u for all the progress pics and inspiration u all post, it really motivated me to get over my feelings of shame to present these nails to a professional
I’ve tried my very best to leave them alone for like 2 weeks and got BIAB treatment today. Here’s a pic :) hope this maybe inspired someone else to do the first step <3 you got this !

I’m excited to see some growth and progress, I’ve been growing my nails out and then relapsing for as long as I can remember, but this is my first time getting them done professionally. Honestly, part of my motivation to do so is so I can convince myself that I paid a lot and therefore I shouldn’t ruin the expensive manicure. I’m excited to se where this journey takes me.

Give me some tips and advice on how to fully stop biting my nails. Longest streaks I can hold are like 2-3 weeks max before I start again. I want to grow my nails but this habit has been with me for about as long as I can remember
