Should I cop this giant reign from 2021 for 1000€ ? It has shiguras ex511 rear wheel Shimano slx drivetrain fox float x performance and fox 38 performance elite. it clearly is used but for 1000€ I don't think I am getting a better deal. And yes i am changing that god awful seat and changing some things like the tune on that shock . do you think I should go for it?

Question Before getting an E Bike

• Upvotes

Hey Guys,

I am looking to get your feedback on my current situation in regards of what I am considering. Reason why I am writing this post is because most of the people I am riding with are super subjective and toxic, so things like what I am considering to purchase I keep to myself.... anyways to the point:

The current situation:
This year has been my first one which I rode in a bike park and I loved it. I sold my trail bike (Specialized Stumpy) and now I am looking for a longer travel E-bike - 180/170 front and 170 rear at least, mullet setup and to be able to take off the battery. My budget is up to 5k EUR in the European market. I have a hot offer on a Specialized Levo Evo Comp, the carbon and the sram 1000 e transmition, at 50km on it. I am buying it from a bicycle/sports marketplace, which has buyer protection etc. The bike comes right under my budgeted amount.

My question is, should I wait for Black Friday in November, December, January, Fabruary or whatever the discount months are and wait for newer technology to come out. Or should I pull the trigger on this one as it's the same sizing like my old bike and I am familiar with the platform.

I would really appreciate your honest feedback and experience.

Question Which retro bike to build out?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Just picked up these two frames and a few parts for free:

Orange 2000 Gary Fisher Mamba

Black 2007/8 Marin Bobcat Trail

The Fisher seems like the cooler more retro build, but the Marin seems more practical (discs and weight)

Which would you build out for a cheap runaround with free parts?

Also as the fisher is steel, can a rear disc mount be easily added? (I know someone who can weld steel but not aluminium)

Question HELP please.

I'm looking for a 20 inch bike for my kiddo she currently rides a 16 inch and shes out grown it. She hates the coaster brake and is causing issues for her.

So we are looking for a HT or full suspension that has disk or rim brakes on it plus gears. We are 100% looking used new isn't even an option.

Other Panhandle Bike Ranch Controversy

Panhandle Bike Ranch in Sagle, Idaho (outside of Sandpoint), invested $2.5M into a 170-acre, 10-trail bike park commissioned by Gravity Logic only to have its permit revoked 10 days before opening after neighbors sued.

The county has since blocked attempts to reopen it as a nonprofit park, and visitors are now reportedly being monitored by neighbors and investigated by the county prosecutor.

Off-Topic FatTandem Squirrel Shifter

Had to do a trail side repair after my shifter broke. Just needed a little tension on the cable to get in a reasonable gear and found a random plastic squirrel. To my surprise and delight - turning the squirrel gave me about 4 gears lol. Replaced the cables housing and brake lever, racing Folsom RodeoCross next week 🤠 iykyk. The Fat Tandem is hand made 👊🏻 (not by me).

Question Derailleur

Whenever I am in the most difficult gear on my bike the pedal always seems to slip every quarter turn or so causing my foot to move faster and me to lose my balance for a second.

If anyone knows how to fix this I would be very grateful.

After being a roadie for the last few years I picked up this barn find this week, just needed grips and a seat.

Can't wait to trick this one out.

I absolutely love it. The color is also really nice. Looks like British racing green since I’m also into cars.

Question Anyone else have a noisy brake hose on their Fox Podium?

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

I enjoy a bike that is nice and quite. Onyx hubs really help you hear every noise the bike makes...

I hate the noise my brake hose makes inside the two guide clamps on the Podium Upper. It rattles like a mofo...

I cut the loop portion of stick on Velcro, and put it inside the clamps. Each half of the clamp has a little piece stuck on. I've only done just a bike stand check, but the noise is gone. The Velcro let's the hose slide during compression with no binding.

Fingers crossed it holds up on trail for a little while. I'm curious if anyone else has tried to silence their Podium.

Question Trek slash 9.8 gen 6 vs propaine tyee cf enduro vs other competitors

so I’m considering buying a new bike but Im debating between the trek slash 9.8 gen 6 and the propaine tyee cf enduro with the ohlins fork and the fox shock and the sram gx shifter and the magura mt7s. I really want the slash because it’s at a good price ($5500) and I want a new unique bike that’s good at descending and while still being a good pedaler, and I want the tyee because of the high spec components. I want a unique looking and preforming bike thats not too expensive (~$6000-$5000). i am by the way planning on making a few upgrades to either bike in the future. If anyone has any advice for me that would be greatly appreciated, thank you.🙏
