Discussion King Charles Reconciles with The Pope

Post image
68 Upvotes

Pope Leo XIV has been named a Papal Confrater of St George’s Chapel, Windsor. And this comes after King Charles III received an honorary title connected to the Papal Basilica of St Paul’s Outside the Walls in Rome in 2025.

What is King Charles ultimately hoping to achieve?

Could The King be looking to improve relations between the British monarchy and the Catholic Church after centuries of religious division or this is simply a gesture of goodwill, or could it reflect a broader ambition to bring different Christian traditions closer together?

Could he be seeking greater Christian unity, stronger diplomatic and religious ties with the Vatican or a more inclusive relationship between Britain's different Christian communities? Is he looking forward to Unite all Christians? Or is this simply a ceremonial exchange with no wider political ambitions.

What do you think? Is King Charles helping to build a new relationship between the British Crown and the Catholic Church, and could this have any significance for England's future?

What is your opinion of the works and thought of the Austrian philosopher, literary critic, journalist, university professor, and political scientist Erik Maria Ritter von Kuehnelt-Leddihn (Tobelbad, 31 July 1909 – Lans, 26 May 1999)?

Have any of you ever read one or more of his major works? If so, what did you think of them?

I am referring in particular to the following works:

- The Menace of the Herd, Milwaukee: The Bruce Publishing Co., 1943.

- Liberty or Equality, Front Royal, Virginia: Christendom Press, 1952.

- The Timeless Christian, Chicago: Franciscan Herald Press, 1969.

King Haakon received representatives from the Parliament and the government to a gala dinner at the castle. Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Queen Sonja were also present.

King Haakon VII introduced the parliamentary dinner as a regular tradition in 1906, but the event dates back to Union times.

Pro Monarchy activism Louis XX, Duke of Anjou, Officially Criticising the Fifth Republic

Post image
241 Upvotes

With Louis XX, Duke of Anjou publicly talking about the failure of the fifth Republic and vouching for the French people and making things political for the betterment of France, do you think the Fifth Republic will finally fall and French people will choose him as their King?

Here's the english translation of his official statement on the recent French riots :

" Images of desolation come from the major cities of France: I am deeply outraged.

These scenes of violence are unbearable. They have overshadowed the just demands, preventing the majority from expressing themselves, and make us forget the real causes of a deep social unrest. I express my support and compassion to all the French people, demonstrators, residents, merchants, police officers, firefighters, and gendarmes, who have had to endure this violence.

Analysis cannot remain superficial. In reality, for many years, we have observed that many social and popular movements are plagued and parasitized by terrorist groups. Because indeed, these gangs terrorize the population, terrorize merchants, terrorize representatives of the order. These individuals have understood that our state is weak and that any display of force makes it retreat.

Violence is a mode of action. On Saturday, the lack of police and gendarmerie personnel, observed in many neighborhoods, revealed a great lack of anticipation from the authorities. Even worse, a real retreat of political leaders who refuse to ensure the safety of the French people.

Between the fear of confrontation and the will to let the situation rot, nothing is being done, and hundreds of French people have been left abandoned. Looting, violence against individuals, criminal fires, destruction of collective property: all of this has been done with outrageous impunity. The authorities must regain their authority before worse situations arise. For this, the law enforcement agencies and the magistrates must be given the ability to treat these individuals as terrorists.

Exemplary measures, consistent over time, must be applied to these groups in order to deter anyone from joining them. Demonstrations must take place without ending in this chaos.

Power is legitimized by the authority it displays and the order it establishes. As the 800th anniversary of the coronation of Saint Louis approaches, I pray for France and dedicate all my attention to it. "

Politics The unconstitutional government of Quebec

Post image
109 Upvotes

For those of you who don’t know
The Government of Quebec and most MNAs (Members of the National Assembly of Quebec) did not bear true allegiance to his Majesty King Charles the third. This has sparked a constitutional crisis in Quebec. As the Canadian constitution requires all members of Parliament or Legislatures to swear allegiance to the Crown of Canada.

So what are your thoughts on the situation?

His formal titles:

His Imperial and Royal Apostolic Majesty, Charles the First, By the Grace of God, Emperor of Austria, Apostolic King of Hungary, of this name the Fourth, King of Bohemia, Dalmatia, Croatia, Slavonia, and Galicia, Lodomeria, and Illyria; King of Jerusalem, Archduke of Austria; Grand Duke of Tuscany and Cracow, Duke of Lorraine and of Salzburg, of Styria, of Carinthia, of Carniola and of the Bukovina; Grand Prince of Transylvania; Margrave of Moravia; Duke of Upper and Lower Silesia, of Modena, Parma, Piacenza and Guastalla, of Auschwitz and Zator, of Teschen, Friuli, Ragusa and Zara; Princely Count of Habsburg and Tyrol, of Kyburg, Gorizia and Gradisca; Prince of Trent and Brixen; Margrave of Upper and Lower Lusatia and in Istria; Count of Hohenems, Feldkirch, Bregenz, Sonnenberg; Lord of Trieste, of Cattaro, and in the Windic March; Grand Voivode of the Voivodeship of Serbia.

Prayer:

“O Blessed Emperor Karl, you accepted the difficult tasks and burdensome challenges that God gave you during your life. In every thought, decision and action you trusted always in the Holy Trinity. We pray to you to intercede for us with the Lord our God to give us faith and courage, so that even in the most difficult situations of our earthly lives we may not lose heart, but continue faithfully in the footsteps of Christ. Ask for us the grace that our hearts may be moulded into the likeness of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Help us to work with compassion and strength for the poor and needy, to fight with courage for peace in our homes and in the world, and in every situation to trustingly place our lives in the hands of God, until we reach Him, as you did, through Christ our Lord. Amen.”

Profile:

Blessed Karl was the last Emperor of Austria, the last King of Hungary (as Charles IV), the last King of Croatia, last King of Bohemia (as Charles III), and the last monarch belonging to the House of Habsburg-Lorraine before the dissolution of Austria-Hungary, following World War I (Great War).

He made several unsuccessful efforts to exit the "Great War" based on proposals from Pope Benedict XV, earning him the title "The Peace Emperor". His political efforts to preserve the Empire were likewise unsuccessful. Despite this, he refused to relinquish his claim to the throne and was twice exiled, first to Switzerland and then to Madeira.

His claim to sainthood rests on his personal prioritization of the Catholic Faith over temporal matters. He is credited with respecting what would develop into Catholic social doctrine. He saw his role as Emperor as that of a Christian vocation of service to his subjects.

Born 1887. Died 1922 in exile on island of Madeira, Portugal. Beatified by Pope St. John Paul II in 2004. Bailiff Grand Cross of Honour and Devotion of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. Buried at Church of Our Lady of Monte on Madeira, where he died at age 36 of pneumonia. His heart and that of his wife Servant of God Empress Zita are buried together at the former abbey church of Muri Abbey in Switzerland (whose monks eventually moved to Italy) which traditionally enjoyed the patronage of the Habsburg dynasty.

His feast is kept by the Knights of Malta in addition to the general calendar of the Catholic Church.

Question If Marry Tudor had a son before she became Queen would he have been Edward VI'S Heir

Now, this is a purely hypothetical question, as Henry VIII never would have allowed his eldest daughter to marry until his son Edward had children of his own, and perhaps not even then. However, the other day, I was bored and started wondering what would have happened if Mary had a son named Henry, born sometime in 1538. He was raised alongside Edward, became a Protestant, and history followed the same path as in real life, except that Mary had a Protestant heir.

As I thought about this, I began to wonder: would Mary I even become queen? Wouldn’t her son come before her in the line of succession, especially if he were friends with Edward and a Protestant? But what do you think? Would he have been crowned King Henry IX in 1553, or would he simply have been Mary I’s heir?

History A Gift from King Philip II to Portugal

Thumbnail

In 1580, Philip II of Spain (Castile and Aragon) inherited Portugal. He was formally recognized at the Cortes of Tomar in 1581, and on that occasion, he gifted the imperial Convent of Christ—the former seat of the Order of the Templars—this extraordinary gold and enamel reliquary cross, which is said to contain a thorn from the Crown of Christ. The new king was the son of Isabella of Portugal and also descended from the Portuguese royal family through his Habsburg paternal line. There is a delightful genealogical irony here: among his ancestors, one finds more Portuguese (from the House of Aviz) than Castilians. The crowns remained separate, and the arrangement functioned reasonably well throughout his reign. Following the reigns of three Philips, this period ended with the expulsion of the House of Austria and the rise of the Most Serene House of Braganza (1640). The origin of the cross is uncertain—was it made in Spain or Portugal? Perhaps it came from Augsburg, Germany. This masterpiece serves both as an object of devotion and as an assertion of dynastic legitimacy. It is part of the treasury of the Lisbon Cathedral.

The KING

Letter that His Majesty wrote to the King of China,

“Don Philip, by the grace of God King of Spain, Naples, Sicily, Jerusalem, etc., of the Indies, islands, and mainland of the Ocean Sea; Archduke of Austria; Duke of Burgundy, Brabant, and Milan, etc.; Count of Habsburg, Flanders, and Tyrol, etc.: to you, the powerful and highly esteemed King of China—as one for whom we desire true and complete well-being, health, and prosperity, along with an increase in all good things—having learned through reports from my governors of the Philippine Islands and accounts from certain religious men who have come from there of the prudence and justice with which you govern that great kingdom, and of the warm welcome and treatment your subjects have extended to ours in the ports and places where they have arrived; and being greatly pleased by both matters, I wished to convey this to you and express my gratitude, and to let you know that your friendship and communication would be most welcome to me, directed primarily toward the glory and honor of the true God—Creator of heaven and earth and of all creatures in the world, visible and invisible, and the Savior and Glorifier of those who, with true understanding, believe in Him and obey His holy law, declared by His Word and confirmed by His divine signs whom we Christians adore and revere, and from whom we await our salvation and the calling of all other peoples to the light of His Truth—as the religious of the Order of Saint Augustine, who are bringing this message to you, will explain in detail. From them, you will learn of the Gospel law, the tenets of our holy Roman Catholic faith, and the true path to the salvation of souls; I most affectionately urge you to listen to them and believe all that they tell you regarding this matter. For I have no doubt that, having received so many benefits and graces from the hand of God Himself—and having been endowed by Him with such sound judgment and understanding—you will recognize that I am sending you the blessings and riches of Heaven, which you may gain through this means; compared to this, all earthly greatness and monarchy are as nothing. From this, a lasting friendship will be established between us, as well as between our successors and subjects. Believe that my desire in this regard is so sincere and devout that I would value being an instrument of your salvation—and that of your vassals—more than any other of the world's most precious treasures. Thus, I earnestly ask and beseech you to receive and listen kindly to these religious men; as ministers of God—who is the One that gives and takes away kingdoms—they will instruct you on what must be done to reach Him, and I ask that you believe what they convey on my behalf. I also send you, as a token of the good friendship I intend to maintain with you, certain items found and used in these realms of ours. May God our Lord enlighten you with His grace and keep you in His care, O mighty and dearly beloved King and Royal Estate, in its continuous guarding of Badajoz, on the eleventh of June, fifteen hundred and eighty; I, the King—Matheo Vázquez.”

The letter was part of the first Spanish royal embassy intended for China—which included Augustinian friars such as Jerónimo Marín, Francisco de Ortega, and Juan González de Mendoza, along with various gifts—but it never reached China; it was halted in New Spain due to opposition from the viceroy and theological-legal debates.
