I’ve converted the new Radio Music Suggested Audio Rev 2 collection for my mk1, tested it on the module, and it works!

The converted pack contains:

• 299 WAV files: 44.1 kHz, 16-bit PCM, mono.
• The original categories preserved across banks 0–15.
• Unique DOS 8.3 filenames.
• No trimming or shortening of the recordings.

This is based on the new 22GB collection, rather than the older RAW pack already available for mk1. You’ll need the 2017 firmware or later to play the WAV files.

I’ve looked around online and in forums to see whether someone had already shared a mk1-ready version of this new collection, but I couldn’t find one.

All credit for the original collection goes to Music Thing Modular and the listed audio sources—I’ve just done the conversion.

Would anyone be interested in the mk1-ready files? Before sharing anything, I’d also really appreciate hearing whether this is okay, especially from Tom/Music Thing Modular or anyone involved in the collection. I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes or redistribute something against their wishes.

Looking for recs on pitch shifting modules.

I use echophon for these duties currently, but wondering if there is a more comprehensive/ singular module that can do this...

Hey music makers and modular lovers.

I’ve been running a little site that gives away samples. Mad, right?

The deal:
Sign up with your email.
Get 10 free samples in your inbox every 10 days.
Keep getting them until you unsubscribe, or until I run out of gas / will / sanity.

All 24-bit / 48 kHz WAV,
Royalty free, use them in anything.
Made using modular gear, analog synths and digital processing.
Samples meant to spark an idea or slide into a project for extra spice.

Feedback welcome, ideally constructive and snarl-free ;)

Have a look at the releases so far to see if it’s your vibe. If you fancy signing up, it’s here.

Here's another update to the unofficial, community-driven firmware patch for the Bitbox Micro that puts more of the module on MIDI, and 2.3.9-mod is ready for release, now including sixteen Airwindows effects on the master bus, and an on-screen display for controller parameters.

In this release:

• The Character chain: Four effect slots across the master bus, each with an Amount, a Tone. Thanks to Chris Johnson for making this possible with his awesome Airwindows plugins.
  • Destruction, lo-fi and breakage: Pockey2, DeRez3, Ring Mod, Fracture2.
  • Overdrive, warm tube to dirty harmonics: Tube2, Drive, Mackity, Huge.
  • Colour, consoles, tape and a transformer: Channel9, IronOxide5, ToTape8, Coils2.
  • Saturation, smooth weight and density: PurestDrive, Spiral2, Density3, Mojo.
• OSD pop-ups: every patch CC shows what it changed, in real units. The clock gets them too.
• A CPU bar along the bottom of the screen.
• Preset BPM: Adjust a preset's tempo directly on the module and save the preset. With Clk Loss on HOLD, it also captures a clock's tempo.
• Auto makeup gain for the compressor
• Keep CC's option that restores your controller parameters when you load a new preset.

Fixed: MIDI notes could change compressor, EQ or delay settings.

Fixed in the guide: the EQ comes before the compressor, not after it.

This isn't from 1010music, can't brick it, but bring your own stock firmware, don't pass the patched firmware around.

Subconscious communications vampire oscillator into voicetail bp filter into stylophone cpm ds-2 as reverb and a speaker. I'm having fun so far with what little I have but there's a long way to go until I have everything I need.

I've been building an alt firmware for the Morphagene, starting with quality-of-life fixes I've seen requested and growing into some new features I was excited to explore. It's built from your own copy of the official firmware: you download mg204.wav from Make Noise, and the web builder adds the mods in your browser.

The Morphagene is such an inspiring instrument, and I hope this brings more interest, creativity and enjoyment to the community without taking anything away from the original. I'm happy to take this down if there are concerns.

A few highlights:

Exact octave lock: SHIFT + Varispeed snaps to exact octaves (-2x to 2x, including stop), so you can easily get back to unity with no drift.
Input gain remembered: Set the gain as usual (hold REC, tap SHIFT) and the Morphagene boots up with your last setting.
Tape mode / TLA feedback: SHIFT + S.O.S. turns overdubs into a Varispeed-linked tape head inside the Slide / Gene Size window, or classic TLA feedback.
Built-in effects: SHIFT + Morph adds sample rate reduction or tape warble.
Turing mode: a repeating loop of Gene randomness (pitch, scatter, stereo) you can lock and mutate with SHIFT + Organize.
Faster updates: After the first install with the official audio procedure, updates are just mgmod.bin on the SD card (about 2 seconds, no cable).

Every feature can be switched off or customized in options.txt

This is a use-at-your-own-risk project, not affiliated in any way with Make Noise. I've re-flashed my module several times with no issues, and you can always return to the official firmware by running the official update again.

Note: I built this with an AI coding agent. I'm not a firmware developer, and these tools let me bring ideas to life I couldn't have otherwise. I understand some folks have concerns about AI, and I'm sympathetic to them. Every change was verified in an emulator against the stock firmware and tested on my own module, and the code is open for anyone to review or modify.

Edit: short demo video here! https://youtube.com/shorts/MwLpCcCXgAY?feature=share

Edit 2: added octave + fifths, semitones, and custom scales as options for shift + varispeed.

So I've had a uBurst 1.1 PCB + parts laying around for years and I finally got to building it. There seems to be very little info online on how to build and flash it so I tought I'd ask here to clarify a few of my confusions.

- Do I need the JTAG connector to get this module running?
- Can I solder all the SMT before I flash it? (hoping it's ok as I have most of the C and R on already D:)
- Is there anything else that I should know?

I already had the magic smoke come out of a nRings a few weeks back so I don't want to screw this one up as well.

Hello. I have a sustain pedal that I am trying to control the level of Plaits. It would be nice because I am using Plaits to make modulated white noise sounds for a cover band for Moon Safari by Air.

When playing La Femme d’argent, it would be nice to trigger these sounds with a foot pedal with a 6.35mm to 3.5mm adapter. Is there a way to do this with maybe a VCA or envelope follower? I am not sure I can buy a new module for this project. Thank you so much in advance for your help.

Step modulated Morphagene random sampler fed to an amplitude modulated frequency shifter delay and 2hp Freeze to Clouds in parallel. Freeze is auto triggered with probability by an envelope follower of the Morphagene output fed to a Bernouli gate. Then a drone and a pad are layered together.

So, this thread was inspired by a thread asking about the Cre8 Audio Capn Big O where I was surprised how many people replied that they hadn't looked much at the module specifically because of the artwork, and how much some people disliked euroracks tendency toward fun and quirky art on the modules.

This was striking to me because one) I've never considered a modules art in purchase decisions!

Two) I'm so much the opposite. I love all the unique art and think it's so fun looking at my case full of color and doodles. I'm actually disappointed when modules opt for a more 'serious' design.

So. Now Im curious how strongly the community feels about this

Do you like or.dislike the playful asthetics that have become so prevelant in Eurorack?

If you feel strongly one way or the other, how often does this keep you from actually investigating or purchasing a module?

Got a lil crazy with this one. Bubbly live analog DnB stomper with some live heavy guitar riffs and vocals. In my home studio with my custom modular synths and a bunch of other stuff.

Any thoughts on using projector and TouchDesigner for this AV stuff? Does it add anything?

Would you see something like this live?

I recently bought a 2hp Out, and the faceplate sits noticeably further back than my other modules…

It almost looks like it’s slightly bowed inwards.
I’ve attached a few photos.

Is this normal for 2hp modules, or does it look like the faceplate is bent or something isn’t sitting right?

Thanks for any advice!

Hi, I am looking into buying the Rossum Panharmonium to route live instruments through. I want to feed my electric guitar through it and sometimes a saxophone to get a really full, almost uncanny sound that still somewhat resembles the source instrument.

I was wondering, does anyone have any examples they can share of routing real instruments through the Panharmonium? Has anyone use it for live performance before and how do you like it? Can it be tamed?

Anyone with any experience with either able to tell me if I should go for one more than the other? Just looking for a fun interesting digital to throw in a rack.

People have complained about used module prices on here pretty extensively, and we know there are many “optimistic” people trying to sell their currently-available gear for 10-15% off retail.

The complaint that I haven’t seen much of is the fact that the price-setting occurring in the secondhand market has almost no bearing on the gear’s condition or how “used” it is. I feel like a third or fourth owner is valuing their gear the same as someone who bought it new and is reselling.

My question is, does anyone have a way to account for this? How do you find this information when buying used modules, if you even care? Should it matter when buying used modules?

Sellers, are you considering this when setting your price, or just flocking to reverb to decide that your 10-year old maths is the the same price as a 6-month old one since it’s in “excellent condition”?

Or do people not typically consider this?

Edit: it seems most people decided to fixate on me bringing up number of owners, which I used as just one metric for condition or level of “used”. That was just an example and maybe not the best one, but I can’t be the only one who has seen or received modules in way worse shape being priced the same as modules in good condition. My overall observation was that wear is not translating to price very much in the secondhand market

After a month or so of fiddling within VCV Rack, I’ve come to the decision of buying myself the very first synth.

I’m considering between the Arturia MiniBrute 2S and the Moog Labyrinth.

The Labyrinth has that special generative sequencer that I think would fit my music style. It also has the pros of being a Moog and looking like a Moog - very classic, analog-ish and thus is better looking in my opinion. Also, I’ve quite enjoyed the sound of Moog’s.

However, the MiniBrute 2S comes with that incredibly flexible sequencer, and way better versatility, to the point that it feels stupid not to choose it over the Moog. I’ve not heard much regarding the sound quality and the patchability of this thing, but I gotta say I don’t like the look quite as much as the Moog. The price is a bit cheaper though, so that’s another pro.

Can any of you give me an advice or recommendation? Thanks a lot!

Come hang folks! Holla in the chat!
I’m in a furthurrrr generator mood tonight!

Patch Notes
10/15/26

Tonight I spent a great deal of time exploring the range of Endorphin.es’ FURTHURRR GENERATOR. Complex oscillators is a new domain of interest that I’ve taken a dive into. I’ve owned FG for a few years now. But I’m finally beginning to understand how much you can get out of it with modulation both internal and external. I started out the stream running it through a VCA followed by QPAS and MIMEOPHON before bringing it into the Bluebox. After setting up the audio routing, I started feeding it clocked modulation from Pam’s Pro and Marbles. Over the course of the patch, I was able to squeeze 3 audible parts out of it before bringing in mother32 for some bass tones. After setting up the harmonic landscape of the patch, I brought in an octatrack sequenced Squid Salmple for some rhythm and nRings and Saich for more melodic and harmonic colors. I guess we can say this patch is made of 5 voices. I intend on taking FG into a small case for deeper exploration. Towards the end of the stream, I clocked the system with some random pulse from noise tool to break the time grid for a lush ambient breakdown. This was definitely a fun patch to build.
