There have already been many ideas regarding giving fletching tables a use and most of them were focused on upgrading bows in some way but I have a different one.
Bows were always closely tied with hunting, so why wouldn’t we go in this direction when picking an use for the fletching table?
The idea is that we would use the table to craft different bait/lure items that would increase chances of certain mobs spawning nearby and make fishing more efficient in some way (they could have multiple uses)
A bait would probably be a block to place to trigger its effects and I can see many uses for it:
-Triggering some events needed for certain loot (I am particularly thinking of illager patrols for bad omen)
-Increasing chances for rare mob color variants
-Increasing chances of drowned spawning with nautilus shells and tridents
-Allowing you to get hot and cold mob variants in bioms you normally couldnt
-Generally triggering spawn of mobs that don’t usually spawn in particular biomes
-Increasing chances of an enderman, witch or zombie villager spawning if you ever needed them.
-boost fishing in some way (I am not sure how though)
Baits could be crafted with a wide range of items like: seeds, hay, potatoes, beetroot, raw meat, golden apples/carrots, glowing melon, rabbit foot, kelp, etc.. This could work like suspicious stews with different item combinations giving different effects, and this would give many now useless items a new use.
Sorry for not providing any art but I myself am not sure on how would a bait look.
What do you think of this idea? Is it too RPG-ish for minecraft? Maybe you have any suggestions on how it should work?
