USB or Hybrid (USB&XLR)? Been sitting on it for weeks now, HELP ME

I've been thinking and researching for weeks now, and I am getting so frustrated because I can't decide which way to go.

If I get a USB only MIC, I know it's convenient for now. But it will be useless if I decide to put some more effort in what I do. But the caveat is I am only starting and I don't know whether I would continue or build my interest on this. ALSO sound quality compensated, for convenience I guess.

If I get a USB/XLR Hybrid (or an XLR), I know it can take some time for me to work on the set up etc. (I am a beginner music maker). And I also found out if my budget is limited, the audio interface I would get might not be of a best quality I guess, naturally. + There are so, so... many choices for audio interface for beginners that I found.

My current interests: music production (just began............ but can produce basic beats and last week I made a song demo and a lo-fi track of my own, given my background in piano) AND I can sing and am planning to cover songs and sing my own song.

Rode NT1 Signature + Minifuse 1 / Rode NT1 5th Gen look good to me.............(again I don't know how good or bad these are, and therefore asking for help in deciding which way to go).

I am open to other recommendations too, please!!

Gaming / Streaming Mics Shure MV6 Gen 2 — Background noise cancellation and desk vibrations?

How good is the background noise cancellation ? And how well does it handle desk vibrations, such as when typing on a keyboard, moving the microphone stand, or accidentally bumping the desk?

I’m looking for a USB mic mainly for work meetings, Discord calls, and gaming.

Initially, I was considering the HyperX QuadCast 2, but since it’s a condenser mic, I read a lot of reviews saying that it was picking up too much background noise, like keyboard clicks and sounds from the surroundings. That’s when I came across the MV6.

My main concern is background noise because I live in a fairly noisy environment and have two kids at home, so there’s often noise in the background.

I'm willing to stretch my budget to the price of the Shure MV6 Gen 2 if it's worth the investment, but I'd also appreciate recommendations for other microphones in the same price range or cheaper.

Ideally, I'm looking for something that:

  • Has good background noise rejection, especially for voices and household noise.
  • Picks up my voice clearly and sounds good for meetings, Discord, and gaming.
  • Doesn't pick up too much keyboard noise or desk vibrations.
  • Is reliable and built to last. I'd rather invest in a good microphone that will last for years than buy something that starts having issues after four to six months.
  • Has USB connectivity, preferably without requiring an audio interface or additional equipment.

REALTEK ISSUE IDK????

Hello everyone, I'm new to this page and I hope you guys may help me. My grammar is not good but I will try my best.

So I have this issue. When plugging a new headset with mic or A jacked mic. Like TNW-K16.

I'm using Asus Vivobook laptop and when plugging them I just hear some background noise like fans or anything and my voice are just like video recording. Meaning my voice didn't get record and it's my voice just goes along with the background noise.

This cant help with uninstalling or downloading a new driver for realtek it's not happening. Even I plug it correctly it's not working at all. All I hear is background noises not my voice.

my TNW-K16 it's new, and when I test it doesn't work either and I used a soundcard that I bought online. It doesn't work either.

Is their anything else to fix this? Or it might be broken. Or driver issues???? Please help me. Thank you

Looking for a condenser mic for guitar amp recording – warm, open and 3D sound

Hi everyone!
I’m looking for a condenser microphone for recording my guitar amp and I could really use some advice. There are so many mics out there!

My setup:
Fender American Professional Jazzmaster
Tone King Imperial MkII
Royer R-10 ribbon mic
Heritage Audio i73 Pro Edge

I’m looking for a sound that is warm, deep, open and 3D, with a lot of depth and body. I want the guitar to sound big and natural, with clear detail but without harsh highs or a thin, flat sound.
I usually record the amp from a bit of a distance. I make emotional, cinematic and ambient music, so I’m looking for a beautiful, rich guitar sound rather than a very close or aggressive sound. Here’s a little example of the music I make https://youtube.com/shorts/Q9JUYMd1phw?is=xTmGeAQeBimRrT6M

My budget is around €1,200 max.
I have been looking at the Lauten Audio LA-320 V2 and the Lauten Audio Clarion FC-357, but I’m open to other brands and suggestions.
I would like to use the condenser together with my Royer R-10, but I also want the condenser to sound great on its own.
Which microphone would you recommend for this kind of sound?
Thanks a lot!

Boss VE-22 phones/line microphone volume very low, is this normal?

Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue with very low vocal monitoring volume on my BOSS VE-22.
I’m using a Telefunken M80 (also tested Shure Beta 58) with Shure SE215 in-ear monitors connected directly to the VE-22.
Even with PHONES/LINE at maximum, OUT LEVEL at 180 and EQ LEVEL at +5 dB, my vocals are barely loud enough. Input sensitivity is correctly adjusted, and disabling all effects and compression makes no difference.
Interestingly, music played via USB is extremely loud through the same headphones.
When I connect the VE-22 to my Soundcraft Ui16 and monitor through a Behringer P2, the vocals are much louder.
Is this normal VE-22 headphone output behavior, or could my unit be defective? Has anyone experienced this?

Thank you

Gaming / Streaming Mics At2040USB or similar alternatives

Hi all, I'm from Australia and looking for a dynamic mic under $150 aud (105usd). I have a fairly deep voice, which I would like to preserve the quality of, so I'm not sure if the AT2040USB ruins that or not. I haven't seen much discussion about the AT2040USB and was wondering what people thought of it, from what I've read so far, it seems ok, fairly bright apparently. I can get a second hand one, mint condition for $100aud ($70usd) and was wondering if there's anything better for that price.

The AT2040USB does sound different to the AT2040 btw.

And yes, I know, people here are big proponents of the XLR setup, but I have limited desk room (yes, I don't have 30x30cm desk space where it would fit well) and I also prefer the convenience of the USB system for cable management (I already have many cables).

Please do not try and convince me to go with an XLR setup right now, it just isn't going to work out. But I do appreciate all of u/RudeRick comments in this sub, have been insightful.

Ideally, the rode podmic usb would be the best option, but it's just too expensive for me. Cheapest I've found being $200aud.

Additionally, I do deeply care about the aesthetics of my setup (I know many of you may not be a fan of that, as you jump to the Samson q2u recommendations), so I wouldn't want anything that looks like a stage mic, but rather a Podcast mic (think podmic, sm7b, mv6 etc aesthetics)

Also if any other Aussies here know of places to get good second hand mics, I've mainly only been looking at Facebook marketplace.

I'll mainly be using it for gaming/talking with friends. No singing or music performances.

Any and all recommendations/insight is much appreciated, thanks.

COCONISE Gaming Microphone works with iOS?

I'm wanting an external mic that can be connected to my iPhone 8 Pro. Would the COCONISE Gaming Microphone work with a USB-C to USB-C connector? Might need a camera connection kit and run a separate power but I'm curious if the mic would work in this scenario.

Studio Mics Looking for a good microphone for bright male voices

I have a bright singing voice and am looking for something that would work well with that. currently I’m town between an SM7B, RE20, AT4040, and NT1. I already have a cloud lifter so the SM7B’s volume issue won’t apply for me. Let me know if there are any other good ones to check out outside the one’s I’ve listed as well. thank you :)

How to EQ a mic?

I have seen a few vids on tiktok and on ig about how the microphone's EQ works, more specific, what frequency does what, for ex, ifim not mistaken, the 800 and less are just background noises etc.., im not an expert nor im cultured on this thing, id like to start mess a bit with the mic EQ and try to do a preset fr my mic, i dont have any specific important usage for that, just gaming and voice chatting. I dont want any software to EQ my mic for me, i just want to learn how to do it on a gross way. Is there some gentleman here that is willing to explain me what freq. capture and what are they usually for? (f.e. under xx is just this thing, between y and z most of the time is your voice etc...) (sorry for my bad english, aint my first language)

Any idea what this unintended popping noise is in the recording?

Tascam DR05

Sound Professionals: SP-EHB-2 binaural microphones

Low cut Filter: 40hz

This is part of a longer recording but I just wanted to highlight this weird popping sound that comes up like 2 other times in the 6 minute recording of just me outside in a busy parking lot just walking around and testing the microphones. Gonna be doing more testing outside again, but while testing indoors wheres its quiet I haven't really been able to replicate the popping noise. I was walking and moving during the recording. The recorder was in my pocket with the mics on my ears.

Gaming / Streaming Mics Microphones for use with a laptop cooling pad?

Title. I play games with friends on a laptop with a cooling pad underneath, and said cooling pad has a 6-inch fan going at 2800rpm, which is pretty loud. Does anyone know any microphones that are good for blocking out consistent background noise like that? Thank you!

Questions about xlr to 3.5mm and equipment needed/cheaper recommendations that will help the budget.

Might be the wrong sub apologies if that's the case.

TLDR, found a Audio Technica DR-2700HE on FBM for $15 and need help learning what equipment and how to adapt it for use on my computer. All hypothetical at the moment.

I am looking at a Audio Technica DR-2700HE on facebook marketplace for 15 dollars at the moment. My pc headset mic died but the headphones are still good, I'm using a second worse headset with a functioning mic laying on my desk as the mic at the moment. The main question is, is this worth it, second being how feasible and for what price. I'm in the US the budget is probably around 25-50 dollars depending on what's needed. (this is not including the microphone)

Thanks for the help and if this is the wrong sub please point me in the direction this question is better asked!

I wanna move my mic above my monitors (red arrow)
