I got a wrong pack from them which I didn’t order. So I texted them and they told me they will do 20% off on my next order on top of the discounts they do actually on their website. But that didn’t happen, ignoring my request for my next order discount of 20% as they said before. So I want to let the community know, better buy from an honest seedbank not Chitownseeds.
I’m not trying to spark a debate here but I’m genuinely perplexed by why you’d bother with beneficial bacterias over just going sterile.
I’m towards the end of my first grow. For the first leg of it I was convinced I should go the beneficial route. I’m sure this is a skill issue but I was fighting a non stop up hill battle. Thought I was going to lose my plants multiple times and ended up cutting most of the roots off one my plants in its second month.
While I was combating root rot, doing hydrogen peroxide soaks etc I came across someone who’d suggested HOCL on another post and caught some flak for it.
I did a res change, made some weak HOCL and started supplementing and I’ve had 0 issues since. I don’t have to worry about water temps as much and it seems like a far simpler solution.
So if both methods were executed flawlessly what’s the trade off? Does HOCL affect taste and other things or?
heyhey fellow growers, it’s my first time growing, so I'm documenting the journey and would love your feedback, but no hate plis i’m just enjoing the jurney :)
Context
I lived for almost six years in the Netherlands, where I went from smoking (and then vaporizing) just to get stoned to enjoying terpenes, strains, and cannabis variety, thanks to the cannabis legislation and movement out there. After amazing years in the NL, it was time for me to come back to my hometown, Rome, Italy, where unfortunately cannabis is illegal and cultivation for personal use is in a grey area. Whatever, I took the risk; I am a bad boy (👹), and I want to consume good cannabis without financing the black market and mafia. So I started my grower journey, buying a grow box kit. Don’t snitch on me 😡
Setup
Tent: 60x60x160 cm
Light: 150W quantum board LED, dimmable – currently ~50% at 40-45 cm
Light schedule: 18/6 (vegetative duh)
Medium: BioBizz Light-Mix with perlite
Pots: 1.55 L for now, moving to 11 L after next week
Nutrients: none yet, plain tap water rested 24h (plan: BioBizz Bio-Grow at half dose soon)
Airflow: small clip fan on low, extractor + carbon filter for later
Temp/RH: 25-27°C, 56-64% RH
Genetics
Sweet ZZ by Royal Queen Seeds – Grape Ape x Grapefruit, feminized photoperiod. 2 seeds, both germinated.
Timeline
Day 0: soaked seeds in warm water, sank after ~17h
Day 1: planted in Jiffy pellets
Day 2: taproot visible
Day 3: first sprout up, moved under the LED
Day 4: both seedlings stretched badly (I left them in the dark too long 🤦). Transplanted into 1.55 L pots burying the stem deeper
Day 5: first true leaves, stretch fixed
Day 7-8: RH was low (54%), raised it with wet towels and water containers in the tent
Day 9: second set of leaves, first proper watering until runoff
Day 12: third node, first 3-finger leaves, both plants healthy
Lessons so far
Put your seedlings under the light the moment they break the soil. Mine stretched in just a few hours of darkness, but burying the stem saved them.
Plans
Transplant into 11 L pots after next week
LST to keep the canopy flat, maybe a topping at 5-6 nodes
Flip to 12/12 around mid-November
Questions
When would you start feeding with BioBizz in Light-Mix?
Topping + LST or LST only for 2 plants in a 60x60?
Plant 1: named Amy in honour of the great amy winehouse
Plant 2 nemed Sergio in name of italian repulic president Sergio Mattarella 🗿 (I know the plan is a she but is a fluid society duh)
I posted almost 2 weeks ago 9 days after my post on Sunday night I harvested my green crack sativa plant. Only got maybe 40 inches tall but the buds are huge. I hung the plant whole except one branch snapped. The other one from my post I’m letting it go still. The weather is nice the rest of this week.
This seems to be going well, I think anyway! A few firsts on this one. New nutrients from Advanced Nutrients. Sensi Grow and Sensi Bloom with all the extras like, Jungle Juice, Big Bud, Bud Candy etc.
I made the mistake (apparently) on using them on soil. People talk about using 1/4 of the recommended dosage. I downloaded their app and put 3 litters container. Thinking that they want to know how much water I’m using for my 3 plants right now. I’m on week 5 and this mixup has worked out great so far!
Another first is the strain and the company. I’ve never grow anything from FastBuds before and so far I’m pleasantly surprised. Although the same seeds seem to have germinated three plants with different characteristics. All 3 have taken well and they’re growing nice and sturdy with one having entered flowering about a week early.
The light is a MarsHydro TS 1000 in a little 90cm x 90cm Budbox. Temp is running at about 22-25C depending with the time of their “day” and I run them at an 18/6 schedule.
Also trying a Scrog for the first time, just for laughs.
First time using Gaia Green soil and olly mtn and Gaia green fertilizer.
Usually run Happy Frog, castings and Stonington Blend, with Gaia green fertilizer
It’s possible I went a little heavy on the ratios and not enough perlite.
What’s throwing me off is how long the pots are staying heavy. I can go three days without watering and they still feel like they’re holding a lot of moisture. It makes me wonder if something’s going on in the root zone or if the mix just isn’t draining/breathing the way I’m used to.
I’m also not really happy with how the buds are developing so far. They not stacking like I’d hope for.
Curious what you guys think.
Does this look like a root-zone/watering issue, or am I overthinking it?
Hey, I popped 3 auto beans from speedrun seeds and planted them at the same time. Granite haze, juice pop, citrus bubblegum. They are all 6-7 days old since coming out of the coco.
The CB appears stunted and hasn’t grown much for the past 4 days. Should I give it a few more days or pop another bean?
This girl has truly been a pleasure to grow. Super impressed with these genetics. She outshines every other girl in the tent. I'm not great at taking pics, so they don't do her justice. These buds are so large, it looks almost un natural. This girl is so sticky, if your hands get too close to these buds, youll feel sticky spots on your hands and arms for a long time afterwards. Like a toddler dropped his nasty sucker all over you. It opens with a very sweet smell, thats followed by funk and fuel. I couldnt put my finger on the sweet smell at first, until the breeder told me what I was smelling, then it was kind of unmistakable. It's like a rotten berries smell. This girl truly has been incredible so far, and I'm glad I kept a cut of her.
I have a trip coming up next weekend and won't be back until next year. Depending on how long harvesting and drying takes, I might not even get to taste it before leaving.
For that reason, I’d love to harvest as early as possible—as long as it’s still within the IDEAL harvest window.
I won't rush it if it's not ready yet though;
I'm fine with waiting to taste it next year after a proper dry and cure (I have someone to handle curing while I'm away).
Never tried to clone before, followed a 7 year-old YT video but 2 of them are suffering, any ideas what I could do to save them or are they past it? 4 seem to be doing fine and 2 seem to be thriving but the pictured 2 are weeping/sagging. Clones taken Saturday evening.
Temps range from 77-83 usually (ik it says 85 on the screenshot but that is not typical) and 80-85% RH
Running 18-6 lighting, used clonex gel and soaked the plugs in clonex solution + water ph adjusted to 6.5(iirc, might have been 6)
The brown patch is I believe a dead cell membrane from when the seed fell off. I had far too much light intensity for the last couple days (600ppfd, fixed today, learned my lesson never to use Gemini for growing weed) and transplanted it yesterday but it seems to be doing fine.
need some advice from experienced growers . first time growing out side in living soil never harvested before do these look close to harvestlong or should I go a couple more weeks?
I just got off a seed harvest and have a ton of seeds. I'm trying to germinate a few of them fresh thinking they'd pop almost immediately. I've got the petri dish method going with some from the harvest (after a few days drying) and there's no activity so far.
I tried googling to see if the seeds needed a dormancy period like refrigeration or something but every result I found (that wasn't slop) assumed it was for long-term storage.
I ask because I know some plant species do actually need the seeds to get chilled or forced into a dormant period but my google fu is failing me.
A single plant grown in living soil in a 45 gallon fabric pot amended with craft blend and buildaflower from buildasoil, worm castings from kis organics, and Rootwise throughout the entire grow.
My last run grew through the lights and was extremely under watered. I prioritized my weak links this run and it’s paying off big time.
With week 10 approaching, she isn’t showing any signs of slowing down and I’m more than happy of letting her go for as long as it needs.
By far my best grow so far and really excited for harvest day because of the fruit/berries blended with straight gas aroma it is giving off. It’s super sticky and buds are dense all the way down the stems.
Lemon haze auto 🍃
I’m not really looking for a heavy couch-lock effect. I’d rather stay functional and be able to work on design stuff, read, or just have a conversation, so I’m thinking about harvesting a little earlier. Do you guys think it’s ready now?
I gave it its last plain-water feeding a few days ago and haven’t added any more nutrients since. Some of the leaves are starting to fade and show signs of deficiencies. I’m honestly getting pretty impatient and really want to harvest it already 😂
