On this day, 30 years ago, there was a story that ended. A story that transcended time and space, rhyme and reason, fate and destiny. (Not to mention comprehensibility)
On October 15, 1996, Marathon Infinity launched on the Apple Macintosh with the 'Blood Tides of Lh'owon' Narrative and an expanded iteration of Marathon 2: Durandal's already beloved Multiplayer.
And this game had it all! Universe threatening W’rkncacnter, the first appearance of the Forge game editor, and a story that is wildly difficult to comprehend, which made the game all the more fascinating!
With Infinity becoming the third decennial entry into the Marathon Universe (PiD nonwithstanding), the entire trilogy has turned 30! And all that time later it is still around, ripe and ready to be experiences by new fans and reflected upon by the old!
Or on Steam & Mobile! (Hell you can even play it on a mac for the true nostalgia!)
You're Wormfood, Dude
Happy birthday to a game for which the concept of time is irrelevant, give it a playthrough if you want, it's a great time to be had! Feel free to check out its story/lore too, preserved pristinely by the amazing Hamish Sinclair.

In Death We've Just Begun
Good Luck Runners, the first time in the archive is the defining moment in any runner's journey, get info, get onbaord, get out alive... and don't end up like these Runners...
If another team is shooting at you, just run. Taking damage from another player doesn't lock you into a fight to the death like an RPG random encounter.
Its very easy to break line of sight in this game due to the map design. Break line of sight, then decide if you want to rotate and flank or just disengage entirely. Just gotta stop planting your feet and taking pot shors back until you die because you never had the angle to begin with
Three times today a team of full thieves just grapple up to ultimate height in Biostock and proceed to sit up there all game sending out drones to troll and steal loot.
It's impossible to engage them all the while they're just taunting us over prox chat, even when we get a knock we can't capitalize cause they're just holding different angles up there. We twiddle our thumbs for 15 minutes to run down the timer and force these rats out of their hiding spots just for them to lose to us on final exfil.
I hate bringing more unnecessary attention to this lame ass strat but I just can't imagine this is how Bungie intended cryo to play. Please for the love of Durandal, please disable that area already it serves no purpose other than to promote this type of behavior.
Maybe the copperhead is worse than kkv but at least it costs 3000 more lol. Will the bungie ever do something with the gun? Copperhead looks so good but I always end up disspointed and I'm like "damn, I wish I brought a cheaper and more common gun".
...'cause I never got gold weapons before as a reward from them. Not that I'm complaining but damn! Not how I imagined getting my first gold weapons of the wipe, lol.
Why full finish someone who you already have downed in the exfil when there is 1 second left on the timer and you have no time to loot? The 50 Arachne XP is not worth putting such a damper on someone’s night who you made it seem like you were going to let them live by letting them crawl in and then sit in exfil with you for like 9 seconds
Just don’t get it
Love so many things about this game, but God so many people in this community are so horrible sometimes
I decided to play a few games with randoms on Outpost, and since it was already 6 AM for me, I got matched into a game with high ping — I'm assuming it was an NA server. I play pretty aggressively and confidently, so I immediately pushed the enemy team and got two knocks, but I traded out on the last one. The enemy team was wiped, but my teammates didn't want to revive me. I'm not upset about pixels on a screen — I'm upset that people can treat a stranger like that, someone who basically made the match for them.
Lots of varied guns, nothing feels oppressive. Seeing a variety of shells rather than a recon in every team. Felt so good hearing a recon scan knowing I wasn’t picked up lol.
No other game has given me the highs or lows that I’ve experienced playing this game. I only have one friend that plays the game anymore and we have been down bad this season. We played cryo last night and lost literally everything. Then today we played some outpost with free kits filling with randoms and got enough stuff for a couple cryo runs. We filled into cryo with a random and we were absolutely unstoppable tonight. We went on a ten game win streak wiping the lobby almost every time. A couple games a team exfiled before we got to them. I was at the point last night where I was going to give up filling with randoms and just play the other maps on duos with my friend or solo. but after tonight my faith has been restored. This game is amazing. That is all. Im sorry to all the people that lost their shoes tonight.
Has anyone else seen a recent influx on teammates just not working together at all?
I loaded in Perimeter Trios and right off the rip my team was shooting bullets into the sky and just running off by themselves.
Not soon after I ran into an enemy team and of course they downed me but didn't kill me. My team ran back and killed the team but instead of revive me they stood over my body, TeaBagged me while repeatedly saying "Guardians Make Their Own Fate"
Wtf is the point of loading into a team lobby when you don't even want to work together?
