My grandfather used to practice black magic

• Upvotes

My granfather used to practice black magic - my grandmother hated it. My mom said when they were younger he used to dig graves for people's bones and take it home for his spells. He had this belt that "protected" him from death and he was so unwell at some point and only let go when this belt was taken away from him. They tried throwing it outside the property and he crawled out and managed to find exactly where it was somehow.

Now i have always been insightful but also have noticed how i seem to always know what people are up to. A few times now id think of someone doing something and they would literally ask me how i managed to get in their head. Now am i going crazy or is this some form of generational thing passed down to me?

Is my tarot deck acceptable for MM lessons?

Hello! I have recently learned about the book ‘Modern Magick’ by Donald Michael Kraig. I found a free pdf online and have started reading through lesson one. In it he talks about what decks are acceptable to use for the lessons in his book.
For anyone who is familiar with his lessons and the requirements I was wondering would the ‘Golden Tarot’ by Kat Black be acceptable? It’s fairly loyal to the traditional RWS symbology and style. I love this deck, and I don’t have the money to go out and buy a new deck, so would this be acceptable? I want to do these practices right though and want to learn anything I can. Thanks in advance for opinions and advice!

How can I get my ideal life?

I have specific things and situations that I want, a specific lifestyle. It still feels very far away from me. Along my mundane efforts, what can I do to sync to the life I want, to open the road towards this life? Is there even a way?

Qabalistic cross triggered an energetic bodily awakening?

I began learning a bit about Magick 3 years ago from Damien Echols on YouTube and from reading "The Essential Golden Dawn". At that time I had been practicing the qabalistic cross ritual around 2 times a day as this was recommended as a beginner ritual. I could really feel a lift in my awareness and energy from practicing it. After just a few days of practicing the qabalistic cross I seemed to have some kind of bodily energetic awakening. In the middle of the night I woke up to my heart racing out of my chest, adrenaline pumping, & some kind of spasming energy in my body. I was utterly terrified at the time and completely shocked that this could happen from practicing this ritual. After about 30 minutes of struggling with the energy I surrendered to it and it shot through my body and cracked open my heart center to the point I experienced bliss and warmth. After that my awareness was heightened for a few days and my anxiety levels slowly leveled out. I stopped practicing any magick after that. Even now recalling the experience I can feel the same energy starting to swirl back up a bit years later.

This experience did show me though that there are some crazy powerful spiritual energies and forces that can be tapped into and experienced.

Im interested in starting to practice again, but maybe I should start with something even more beginner?

Has anyone else experienced this? The only thing that sounds similar is Kundalini.

What do you think would happen if the veil between the material and spiritual world were broken and the two merged? And what if the veil thickens separating them completely? I would love to see the anwers to this hypothetical

to me, personally understand, the two planes are a reflection of the other, but if the chaotic currents of the astral had via libra to our world, probably most people would lose their sanity, astral entities would be predating on earth I guess(?) even the material world may begin to lose rationality gradually

What type of Magick is this ?

Hello,

I have been taking courses regarding femininity and femme fetal in terms of energy work.

My coach is also an alchemist and occultist.. said ( this was in a group setting) that we have some level of curse or magic was done to us to block our feminine energy flow … this translated to medical issues or hormones..

She offered a course and requested the following:

- 100 grams of cinnamon powder.
-roses.
-pink salt
-an eyelash from each eye
- three tears from each eye
-rain water after a rainy night from the ground or river water or have an animal drink some water and take the rest..

-white feathers from a bird.
-wear white , have hair down.
-no jewelry.
- not during a period or pregnancy.

What type of ritual is this ? She doesn’t share and so secretive sometimes.. I feel there is something not being shared ..

The Dionysian/Apolonian divide as a more contemporary/ungendered answer to the Divine Feminine/Masculine

This is a thought I have had for a while which I am sure isnt remotely unique, but I think is important to rectify certain issues with the spiritual perspective.

This is not to say that I want to meddle with spiritual matters through an arbitrarily material lens, but as mundane social conceptualisation of gendered matters evolves, it can create issues if the spiritual framework doesnt keep pace. I also find it ironic that this is an idea which dates back to Nietzsche, given that I dont resonsate with his ultimate philosophical conclusions yet like this so much. I just think there is value to be found here particularly.

Ulimately the basic archetypical tendencies which are expressed through the "divine feminine" and "divine masculine" are legitimate, true and deeply human. It's a solid dichotomy which expresses something real, which is why the ideas are so persistent. This is to particularly say that the ideas *associated* with the divine masculine/feminine carry a sense of reality and resonance. However, their gendering is just unnecessary. For one thing, it is inadequate for applying the idea in line with our cultural context. A recognisably feminine person may particularly embody the divine masculine, and vice versa, because ultimately these are ideals which *do not meaningfully line up with gender*. This tends towards needless confusion and often poor philosophical conclusions

By contrast, the Dionysian/Appolonyan divide has no such issue. In this context, the archetype of Dionysus fully embodies the meaningful memes of the "divine feminine", and apollo the "divine masculine". Both embody the appropriate lunar/solar associations and the requisite qualities, and while both are traditionally male they are also notably gender non-conforming, illustrating that the ideals they embody apply to everyone.

Not that I think the occult should be woke on principle, that would be painfully temporal and fickle. But even beyond trying to neuter the tendency of ideas such as the divine masculine/feminine to reinforce regressive political pipelines I truly think that this is a more apt and illustrative way of packaging these important concepts. Frankly, for somebody whos understanding of masculinity or femininity differs strongly from the mean 100 years past, which is many; calling something "the divine feminine" or vice versa can cause interperative problems which create unnecessary friction between occult ideas and cultural ideas.

Also, I just like the reference to Dionysus and Apollo. I enjoy how their similarities and differences cause them to fit together so well, I enjoy how their colour associations are inverse from eachother, I enioy that they both have properties of the androgyne. I enjoy that they share providence over theatre and the arts, and I enjoy their divine embodiments. They make for a good polarised dichotomy which I strongly feel gender should not be. I wonder if anyone else feels simililarly to me in this regard.

I’m trying to understand something that happened to me, and I’m hoping someone here might have experienced something similar..

From 2023 until the end of 2025, I was stuck in what felt like a constant state of depersonalization/derealization. I completely lost my sense of self. My mind was blank, I had no inner monologue, no internal chatter, nothing. It went on for almost two years.

Then, towards the end of 2025, I started doing something that I honestly didn’t think much of at first. I would write affirmations on a piece of paper, almost like petitions, read them out loud over a glass of water, and then drink the water.

The strange part is that almost everything I affirmed seemed to manifest within 3–4 days.

For example, I once wrote something along the lines of, “Everyone who did me wrong is getting their karma.” Within the next few days, I started hearing about people who had wronged me getting into car accidents. This happened with five different people. I wasn’t specifically wishing for car accidents, and that wasn’t my intention, but the timing genuinely shocked me.

That’s actually what got me interested in magick in the first place.

I was also making petitions about my own health, and eventually, I came out of that depersonalization state. My sense of self returned, I got my inner monologue back, and my mind started feeling normal again. I still have aphantasia, but that’s a different thing.

During that period, it honestly felt like everything I asked for was happening. If I asked Archangel Michael for something, it seemed to manifest. If I asked a planetary intelligence or a deity, I would get results too.

I wasn’t using sigils, visualization, or any complicated rituals. I would simply speak out loud with certainty, and things seemed to happen incredibly fast, sometimes within just two or three days.

The weirdest part is that I was basically on autopilot the entire time. I wasn’t consciously trying to enter a trance or altered state, and I had never even heard of the concept of gnosis back then.

Fast-forward to 2026, and it’s like everything has suddenly stopped working. My petitions and affirmations don’t seem to produce the same results anymore.

I only discovered the concept of the gnosis state about two weeks ago, so now I’m wondering whether I was unknowingly experiencing some kind of altered state back then.

I genuinely thought speaking affirmations over water was the key because of the idea that water can hold or carry information. I never considered that my mental state might have had anything to do with it.

So here are my questions:

• How could I have experienced such rapid results without doing any formal magickal techniques?

• Could the subconscious mind somehow be connected to the universe, or is there another occult explanation for what I experienced?

• Is it possible to enter a state similar to gnosis without deliberately trying to induce it?

• Why would something that seemed to work so consistently for me suddenly stop working?

I’m not looking for someone to tell me that magick is fake or that everything was just a coincidence. I’m genuinely interested in hearing occult perspectives, especially from people who work with the subconscious, gnosis, manifestation, or planetary and spiritual intelligences.

I know how unusual this sounds, but the experience was very real to me, and I’d like to understand what might have been happening.

Sex Magick & The Dionysus Group NSFW

Are people aware of The Dionysus Group? They are in the UK and focused on sex magick, I took their classes and was impressed and learned a lot about BDSM and magick, Thelema and groups like TOPY. I'm considering getting more involved, but wondered if anyone has any experience with them?

Can magick override astrological influences?

For example, if you perform a money spell while transiting Saturn is aspecting your natal Jupiter, would the spell be less effective or fail altogether? Or could the spell help mitigate Saturn's adverse effects on Jupiter related matters?

Swapping between the ego and the higher "self"

For those of you that practice high magick, the general goal seems to be for the ego to be abandoned and to move on from it in order to exist fully as the higher self.

My question is, could one pursue being the higher self {while} switching between the two. Almost like acting?

Kind of like when a couple gets into a play fight. They both realize they're not actually arguing but they still engage in it as an act of play.

I don't see why this couldn't be possible, but if it isn't, please tell me why. If this is possible and you know of anyone who has done this sort of thing and recorded it, please let me know! I'm quite interested in this {as a} research topic.

Thanks!

Edits are in brackets {like this.}

Does anyone have experience blending the Kabbalah with witchcraft?

Ive spent 15 years learning and practicing within the Golden Dawns system of Magick. There are certain pagan traditions I've adopted as well, such as Yuletide, and the solstice's. But Id like to have a hand at proper Green Witchcraft and spell work.

Has anyone managed to blend these two practices? And how so. Im super curious.

They're so different. One is based on structure and the arch angels. The other is rooted in intuition and elements. Im not quite sure HOW I can intermix these systems. Id love to hear any ideas. Or book recs.

Are Animals More Susceptible to Magick? Looking for a non-harmful way to stop a rooster from crowing nonstop at night

My family and I have been going through terrible sleepless nights because of a neighbor’s rooster that crows extremely loudly every morning, from around 3 AM to 6 AM. It’s gotten so bad that I sometimes wake up with my ears trembling from the noise, while my grandparents suffers from headaches.

Talking to the neighbor won't solve anything, and the authorities aren't helping either. Out of desperation, I've started considering supernatural approaches.

For those experienced with magick, are animals more susceptible to magical influence than humans? Are there particular methods, such as sigils or other forms magick, that might be effective in influencing an animal's behavior or encouraging its owner to relocate it?

I'd strongly prefer a harmless approach, ideally something that would make the rooster quiet during sleeping hours or lead to it being moved somewhere else. However, I'm open to hearing about different methods, including people's experiences with similar situations.

not sure how to proceed in regards to spiritual practice

ill try my best to keep it short

to put it bluntly, i cant practice magick peacefully and without interruption, at least not within my current living conditions, and so i think that is limiting a lot of which i want to do, i cant really make an altar or something, sure i can maybe light a singular candle, but whats the use of that if most rituals require more than that? i only ever performed 2 rituals targeted to Archangel Michael (chaos sigils too but i wouldnt say they have a high hit-rate for me), and id love to do a whole lot more, but again, my hands are tied here, even without interruptions, i cant even imagine myself explaining it to my parents of what im doing, and its not like im some teen that can get it written off as a phase lol

i really like angelolatry, you know when i had slightly more privacy and besides those Michael rituals ive practiced the lbrp i actually felt like im becoming a better person, but now it feels as if its starting to slip through my fingers, im especially interested in the shem angels, but most rituals to invoke them require quit a bit of effort, something i cannot allocate, well theres the GoM stuff i guess, but that ritual takes 11 days aswell and you need a place where you wont be bothered, dont like GoM tho

regardless, this isnt as much as a vent post as it is me asking for direction on what i should do to not slip, ill just go ahead and say this now - no, prayers do not work for me, ive prayed countless times and never have i felt anything, so what is there left to do? what other type of lowkey magick can i practice? like on the surface, there are so many ways of practicing, but when i actually try to put some thought into it, my head is empty, i have some elder futhark(probably elder) runes laying around i got as a gift, you know the basic lo scarabeo ones, maybe runic magick? or talismans of sorts, i dont know, id highly appreciate if youd point to any resources or advice, thanks!

Eco-witchcraft: chapter of a book

Me and my husband, also a chaos witch, have been invited to write a chapter of a book about Eco-witchcraft. We thought to ask a series of questions to all kinds of witches that self-identify with the concept as we would like to understand how witches that self-identify with the concept understand it.

I would be very grateful if any of you want to answer some of the questions.

Thanks!!

1 Do you consider yourself and Eco-witch? If so, what does it mean to you?

2 do you think that giving an eco dimension to our witchcraft is important for you, your community and/or the planet? Why?

3 In which ways do your "eco values" translate into your practice? And into your life?

4) how does your belief system/atheism relate to your craft and to your "eco" values?

5 how does the way you see non human animals relate to your craft, your belief system and your "eco" values?

6 what strategies, if any, do you use to reduce the environmental impact of your witchcraft?

7 What's in your opinion the role that "eco -witchcraft" can play in building a more resilient, kind, joyful and just world?

8 please, share any other ideas you'd like to share

Thanks so much!!!🌸

Anyone know anything about hibiscus flower for black magic ?

So for a few years my family is going through a rough time all of a sudden, my dad broke his leg, mom went psychotic, I couldn’t land a job or getting really ill , for a few days i noticed this red hibiscus flower on our front gate’s spike , most probably done by our neighbours. I don’t want spread hate against them , but , i want to know if it’s possible to find out what’s going on really , or anyway anyone can help . It came to me a bit late that we shouldn’t have touched it so my mom asked our house-help giving him proper details what it could be and they willingly threw that into fire i couldn’t get any pictures of it . For details you guys can dm me any moment . I’m all ears for suggestions. I hope this doesn’t come out as a demand , I’m requesting any kind of help possible.

Magical Methods for controlling Invasive Weeds

Does any one know of (or used) magical methods for controlling invasive weeds? I've got a nasty infestation of osage orange on my property that makes it difficult to do almost anything in there.

I work in a Christian animist / neo-platonic framework; so right now my best guess is to encourage the spirit of the osage orange to depart from the land, but I'm unsure of how to go about that.

Peace

Visions of snakes in my craft

For context, over the past month or two, visions of snakes keep popping up. While I meditate or direct my energy, I keep getting images of snakes in my mind, or physically feel one on my body. At first it was distracting but ever since it started it felt like my spells have been far more potent. They even started popping up in the real life. There was one near my car the other day, and one at a renfaire a few weeks back that didn’t stop looking at me

I’m wondering if this could be some sort of guide or deity? I’ve always loved snakes but they have never invaded my mind like this before.

Thoughts/Question about LBRP modifications and Ritual Space

1) I have a small bedroom and live at home still so my ritual space is a little bit Freeform. To create a “magical space” currently my routine is to light 6 tea light candles, place them in the shape of a large hexagram (probably 3.5/4ft across) and I sit inside of the hexagram before doing my LBRP and so on.(reasoning for this is aligning myself as the pentagram with the energy of the universe, or the hexagram)
2) During the LBRP-instead of using the banishing of earth at all four corners- I have been using the individual elemental banishing pentagrams and the corresponding direction. Is there any negative to preforming the LBRP this way?

Thanks for reading🖤

I want to study magick systems that are estranged from us

Hi guys Idk how to really use reddit but I'll try my best

I almost don't know exactly how to say what I'm looking for but here it is

I realy want to study a magick system or philosophy so far from us

I dont want it to be historical i want it pre historcal Not the far futer the super far future, maybe the time earth wouldn't exist Not stars away from us. galaxies apart. Like galaxies are the signs in it Not a son .a black hole Entities watching the solar system being formed The system does not categories things in elements planets or dark or light ( at least in the western esoteric form that we are familiar with)

( also nothing earthy and by it I mean from nature)

I hope i did demonstrate what I wanted well enough for you to understand

Any way thanks for reading and any comment is highly appreciated
