Had never seen this interaction come up and didn't realize all the triggers could keep stacking before my creatures died thus ending the chain of draws

Just lost a VOW match over this - asking for help clarifying an attacker trigger

Counting the attacker created by the Disturb side of [[Dorothea, Vengeful Victim]], I had an equal number of attackers as there were cards in the opponent's deck. Unfortunately, the opponent was milled to one single card, meaning [[Screaming Swarm]] did not count it.

I made sure to order the triggers so the token would be created before Swarm's trigger, but it didn't work. Just asking for clarification as to why the 4/4 token wasn't counted as an attacker.

3-0 at my first in person draft, had an absolute blast!!!

Usually I work weekends so I've never done in person draft but found myself with the afternoon free for once. Took the plunge and went in person to an LGS that I knew existed and was doing draft later that day. So glad I did because it was an amazing experience! Everyone was super friendly, lots of fun banter passing the packs around, and my olfactory senses were not assaulted despite what Reddit has led me to believe haha. Went 3-0, only dropped 1 game total and won the super cool reality fracture pin pictures at the top.

Draft format was a bit different than I was used to, it was Pick 2 Bo3 and we could use an echoed pair as "commanders" who start the game in exile and can be played from exile. After the 1st commander is played the 2nd must stay in exile forever or be shuffled into the deck. You can see in my deck I chose Danitha as my 'commander'. Commanders were optional, and even if you had an echoed paired you were not forced to use them. Just a bonus mechanic (that I think was OP for me)

My ultimate goal in magic is to get better at drafting so wanted to share not just the experience but the deck and maybe get anyone's thoughts on the build! Obviously can't really share the drafting process, I don't have an eidetic memory unfortunately, but here's the build and my side board in pic 2!

General thoughts:

Was super scared about running all this removal and not having enough top end so ran winter despite not being very high on it. Ended being insane, I won at least 2 games with it on wide boards pumping everything up. I also think top end maybe wasn't super necessary as the deck ended up playing as the beat down vs many of my opponents which surprised me.

Fblthp and Heartwood Crafter were BONKERS. I dropped Fblthp X=3 or 4 nearly every game I had it, and Heartwood crafter showed up half the time on turn 1 was crazy. Heartwood Crafter was especially broken in this 'Commander' format b/c they start out in exile so Crafter could tap for it. I nearly swapped red arni in as my commander b/c someone pointed out as long as you hit land every turn you can Crafter 1, heartwood token 2, then 5 cost commander from exile on 3. Didn't end up doing it b/c I don't think my deck had enough gas to make Arni big enough (most my creatures were 1 or 2 power) and I had no other echoed pair cards at 5 cost that seemed good. (IF I had opened the black winter I would have considered Winter)

Sideboard was good, I had 2 color hate cards, my entire pod was green for some reason (I don't even know how b/c I drafted so much green) so every single game 2 I traded in 1 No Admittance for 1 Refute Destiny. I had Yargle (LOL) on standby in case I needed more high cost cards, and a medics kitesail for evasion and to sneak damage. Never used. Considered running Dedicated commons + Hexhaven Battalion for a white threat and also the infinite coursework + innovative commons for a removal that bypassed HP. Think it was fine I left these out, I liked how consistent my mana base was.

I was really lucky. I didn't mulligan a single time and I had really good jace surveils always pitching useless lands. there was one game where I Fblthp'd for 4, already had 6 lands out, and continued to draw lands which was funny but other than that 1 unlucky moment my luck was pretty good. My final opponent in the finals I 2-0'd, he showed me his deck after and it had Chandra, the good Jace planeswalker, lich relic, the UB card that creates cadets with flashback for bigger ones, and tons of other good cards, and both Thalia's for commander. He just literally didn't draw any of them while playing me....

Land base I thought was perfect. I think the plains was troll, I had it b/c I thought the 2nd commander was ALWAYS shuffled in, but game 2 someone told me they could leave it in exile. Which seems broken b/c if your 2nd commander is useless then you leave in exile and you're just running a 39 card deck??? I ended up leaving plains b/c +1 damage for Fblthp and I was too lazy to think about land swaps whenever I sided in the white color hate card.

My commander option I think was also OP. I immediately clocked that Danitha would be crazy since I have so many "target" enemy cards (all the spells, Heckler prepared, hapatra). My opponents nearly always spent their early removal on it. And keeping white Danitha out of my deck was great consistency wise as mentioned above.

Opened an Uldaros Theorix out of my 3 booster packs that I got for winning and a shiny stamped Ajani Unrelenting out of a promo pack and someone offered me cash for them! Checked it was OK with LGS (it was OK, they're a comic store so they don't sell singles) and got $15 bucks that pretty much covered my $17 entry fee!

Will edit with more thoughts as they pop up but if you made it this far, thanks so much for reading! AMA if you're curious about anything and hope everyone is having as much fun with Reality Fracture as I am😄

Opened like 12 rares including the three best planeswalkers in the set plus fantastic removal and early game ramp.
Lost a round early to some flooding and was finished off by Ajanis Anguish for X=9. Thankfully I was able to convert in the end.

Sorry if you were one of my opponents 😅

my rare picks were mostly useless (Entrust the Spark, Germination, etc), but now I'm having a hard time figuring out what to cut here

do I have enough surveil to keep Proft?

should I cut the Ways?

Any advice to improve this deck? Wasn't expecting to go 1-3 and wondering where I could make improvements.

This is the version from the second game, after I boarded in paradox shaper to stop myself from milling my whole deck again.

What do you guys think they took over Ajani and Uldaros lol

Final pic is the end result, appreciate any input on the deck build, 5-colour soup is normally outside of my comfort zone but felt right in this case.

Almost every game was just stalling to overwrite the multiverse and then killing them with recursive recruitments. Deck felt great, I’d run it back for the event if I had the choice of it vs a random pool

Help Arena championship token disappeared

Hey!

I qualified for arena championship 14 last month, it's the first time I've managed to get an invite.

However now that arena championship 13 started I noticed my invite token disappeared. Is this normal or should I send in a ticket?

I remember struggling in this format when it released, but I'm having a good time building a variety of decks in Quick Draft at the moment.

With a pool like this, how would you approach the 2 drop slot?

Thumbnail sealeddeck.tech

I think this is going to be a rough build: although there are some great cards in this pool, it's biggest weakness is the lack of 2 drops.

I'm debating if blue should be more than a splash color, as I don't know if I can afford to run 2 countersculpts in a Grixis build with only 2 duals and a single cycler. I probably would have to run at least one of the GW cyclers for this to work.

So, am I looking at the After Thought Sentries? Is this base RG, splashing UB? Are the Kindred Judgements worth anything considering my white otherwise isn't really deep and doesn't alleviate my early game woes?

Would've liked a couple of more pieces of removal, but the value I got off of double

[[Way of the Mind Sculptor]] was insane. The only rares were [[Theorist's Sanctum]] and [[Theorist’s Proxy]].

Red was open (7-1 FRA draft mono red)

Post image

When the first no admittance came around pick 6 and I finished pack 1 with all red cards it made sense to stay there! A few early pack 2 picks on fblthp and other non red cards aside it was a straight forward draft. Dropped the first game when I didn't mulligan a hand that didn't have a 1 or 2 drop but otherwise pretty smooth sailing.

Got a few reacts once opponents realised I wasn't missing a colour! Quite a few no admittance sent face on turn 2 and even a blazing crescendo on the marwyn on turn 2 in the final game!

The deck is fire as it is; but I kinda like having the top end finisher - and the mana is serviceable.

Thoughts?

You know it's spooky season when your deck is so broken it's shaking off Dreadfast Demons without breaking a sweat

What a dumb format

Cube: Confused about archetypes (format self-correction)

Since the last Cube I have been struggling a lot to "understand" the format. As result, I am doing very poorly on the last 2 iterations.

My experience so far has been: Everyone seems to be playing a soup of good cards, rarely doing "the thing". I don't see a lot of aggro, and I struggle even to identify what I am playing against.

My drafts are following the same principle, I end up with a lot of half-baked, scrappy decks, and I keep facing the same 3/4 colour scrappy decks.

In the first Cubes, it was easier for me to identify an open lane, and build a cohesive deck. Now, it seem like everyone is speculating on everything, and everyone ends up with a "scrapier" deck as a result.

I was wondering if anyone else is having a similar experience, or if this is just the nature of the format self-correcting. Most importantly, I would like to know what can I do to improve - I use to love cubbing but I am not having fun at the moment.

*I dont think I faced a single Boros Aggro in my last 40 matches or so. Only 3/4 colours "do everything" decks.
