News Image of the damage to the LAX PeopleMover track. There are multiple “blast instances” reported along the length of the track.

Post image
2.6k Upvotes

The monthly report from LINXS can be found here.

There are reportedly at least 3 “blast instances” along the length of the track, and there is structural damage to the rails and electronics in these areas. Given the scorching, it also appears there was fires of some kind.

This is nothing short of criminal negligence and weaponized incompetence from every single person and contractor working under LINXS and LAWA.

LINXS should have found these issues months if not years ago, but since they’ve been more busy trying to extort the people of Los Angeles for billions of dollars to pad their pockets and running skeleton crew operations working on the train.

Transit/Transportation Yesterday I took the 460 bus from to and from Disneyland from DTLA. What a brutal bus route.

I'm visiting from Australia with my three year old. We took the 460 to and from Disneyland yesterday rather than the train as I like riding different cities public transport. It was also the only way back late leaving the park after 11pm given we don't have a child seat to take a rideshare. While I didn't mind it on the way there, it was tough on the way back due to one bus not turning up making the wait nearly an hour. Think I'll take the train next time 😂

Discussion Dear Text Spammers: Your election texts are completely useless. Nobody has time to read all that crap.

Election text spam has become hilariously useless. There’s so much of it that virtually none of it gets read. I delete them unopened by the dozen.

If you’re a candidate or on a referendum campaign team: your money is better spent elsewhere. Right now you’re just adding to the noise.

Question Anyone else here like taking the bus/train?

Last week, I had to take two buses and a train to get to DTLA because my car was in the shop getting its starter replaced.

I used to take the train daily as part of my commute, and I had forgotten just how much I actually preferred it over driving.
I
A few things I enjoyed about the experience:

Getting some extra steps in while walking to the bus stop and just being outdoors in general.

People-watching on the bus while not having to worry about traffic or getting into a car accident.
More people-watching while waiting for the train.

The cost: Just $3.50 round trip from Downey to DTLA.

You can also live track the buses now using your phone.

And yes, of course you’ll encounter the occasional crackhead or someone having a conversation with people who aren’t there, but that’s all part of the entertainment.

At one point, a homeless guy got on the bus and started singing whatever songs passengers requested. Naturally, I requested “Hit the Road Jack.”

Question Cough that won’t go away. Anyone dealing with this?

Parent of a toddler here. Is anyone else dealing with a cough that has lasted for weeks and won’t go away? It comes in spurts and causes incredibly violent coughing that literally causes me to double over. I thought this was something I picked up from my kid but I’m not really sure. This has never happened to me before and trying to figure out what to do. I haven’t seen my doctor yet about this because I’m loathe to take stronger meds but I’m losing faith right now. It’s getting really tiring.

It always stinks whenever the season ends, whether there is a parade or end in defeat. But it’s moments like this that make you truly appreciate the championships and how much you will miss the game of baseball in the offseason.

Idk what the future holds for baseball but I hope the season starts on time and all fans can get to see their favorite team play baseball once again. Until next year everyone and go Dodgers!

Sorry for the bad photo but this was truly a work of art. There's some other shelters down in the ravine but this guy has a whole compound. I couldn't really capture it completely but it's a whole wooden home with a roof and everything. I believe it had a front window. It can be much better seen headed west on the A line. Next time I'm headed that way I'll try and get a better look,

Discussion Anybody have a smell map of Los Angeles

I’m in Commerce today and it smells like industrial curry production, but it doesn’t smell like that every day, just a couple times a week. Other times it’s lots of different strong industrial smells. Just wonder if anybody knows what some of these different smells are coming from. Crossing my fingers for minimal toxic fumes.

Transit/Transportation Los Angeles Taxi’s

Does anyone else in the city get bombarded with these business cards for taxi services? I’m in Westlake and every morning my business has these business cards taped to my security door. Does anyone even use these taxis? Are they legal, illegal, underground? What’s the deal with these.

Just gotta push through a few more days of heat to get there. We are cooling down next week but this isn't like all the previous cooldowns that lasted like 3 days before we jumped to the 90s again, my 14 day forecast shows 60s and 70s all the way from tuesday to like halloween, i hope this finally means we are done after all we went through, God forbid it changes.

Official Thread ICE Activity & Resources Daily Megathread - Saturday, Oct 17

• Upvotes

Due to increased ICE activity, we’re instituting a daily ICE megathread. All ICE-related content belongs here, including sightings, activity reports, news, questions, updates, and general discussion.

Centralizing discussion keeps information easy to find, especially for people moving around the city who want timely, relevant updates without having to sort through the entire subreddit. ICE-related content posted outside this megathread will be removed and redirected here.

This thread is sorted by New by default so the most recent information remains visible.

How to use this thread

  • Top-level comments are for new sightings, updates, or firsthand information.
  • Replies should stay under the relevant comment to keep related info grouped.
  • Check existing comments first to avoid duplicate or redundant reports.

We recognize this is a tense topic and emotions can run high. That said, content that incites, encourages, or threatens violence will be removed, may result in a ban, and may also violate Reddit’s site-wide rules, which can carry site-wide consequences. Keep reports factual and grounded.

SALUTE when sharing sightings or activity

Include as many of the following details as possible:

  • Size: Number of individuals, vehicles, or units observed
  • Activity: What is happening, observed actions or behavior
  • Location: Clear, specific description of where this occurred
  • Uniform: Identifying markings, clothing, or agency indicators
  • Time: Date and approximate time of observation
  • Equipment: Vehicles, gear, or other notable tools present

Clear, accurate information helps everyone. Speculation and rumors do not.

Food/Drink Looks like the Pink Berry is about to go extinct

Post image

Had a Pink Berry yogurt in Marina Del Rey. I think the last time I had it was before Covid. It’s really hard to find Pink Berry these days. The staff said there are only a few left in LA. It was a good part of my memory in 2010s. Looks like none of them will be around in 2030s.
