Turnitin along with many other students has falsely flagged my writing and when I decided to do research on the company I discovered some terrible things.

Apparently Turntin is discussing using OUR WORK to train AI models as this article says

“Turnitin may use your submission (in aggregated, anonymised, and/or de-identified form) for improving or developing AI tools and other products, features, or services.”

Turnitin did delay this update but 2027 is sooner then you think. If there is anyway we can be against this please tell me I do not want my work being used to train AI.

Hey guys, i've applied to CSUN spring semester on September 22nd. I'm honestly incredibly nervous about housing since my number dropped from somewhere from #400 to #169 and it's stayed like that for about three weeks. Is it over for me? Should I stay at community for another semester? I don't know how I or my parents feel about off-campus to be honest. I'm a freshman transfer by the way.

Hello! I recently got an email about getting my aid revised. Upon checking, it showed a “Fall Semester 2026” under the Anticipated Aid section and showed an amount $. Today I only got the refund for MCS. When I check my account summary, they have added a “state university grant coa” which is what is showing under my anticipated aid section. Would I be refunded that money ? I have emailed UCS already. Just want to ask here and wonder if someone might have an answer lol thank you !

Hey, I’m in a hard and abusive living situation and I’m trying to deal with that AND the semester.

Does anyone have any resources for me through the school? I have a way to get out but it’s across the country. I want to continue school.

Is it a bad idea to ask my professors if we could set up zoom classes? And I just… participate across the country?

I’m failing a class and I’m already on academic probation, but the drop deadline is passed. Is there any other way I can drop it? And if so, what is the process?

I am a Linguistics MA student and I am currently working on a project that tests dialect imitation- specifically focusing on imitation of Southern American English.

If there are any native English speakers (preferably from the West Coast) here that believe that can produce an accurate imitation of this dialect please PM me!

If it is not too much trouble I am looking for someone to send me an audio recording of them speaking with their normal speech patterning and then one of them using the dialect! I would be sending a super short script to read (about 1 or 2 paragraphs) and each recording shouldn’t take longer than a minute!

i live in an apartment complex across the street from CSUN and usually at least once a day i hear the same sound clip of a short trumpet fanfare. it always plays twice in a row with the exact same interval in between each one. it sounds far away but clear so it must be pretty loud. i can only assume it’s coming from CSUN? something to do with campus sports maybe? i just think it’s funny and i wanna know where it’s coming from.

I usually get the middle-class refund by now, but I just checked, and now I have a State University grant. I called, and they told me I have nothing pending and that the State University grant probably paid for my tuition, but they weren't sure.

I’m not sure what to do and I feel lost. I went through a traumatic experience early in the semester (resulting in me missing out on 2-3+ weeks of school) and it heavily deterred me from my academic path. I’ve notified and reached out to professors about said experience (primarily via email, but also recently in person) but not a lot of them have responded/reached back out/taken the time to talk to me about making up any missed assignments. Now that midterms are here and we are going towards the end of the semester, I’m extremely nervous as my grades have slipped heavily. I’m not sure what to do or how to communicate with professors anymore. I know they don’t owe me anything concerning submitting late assignments, but it would be nice to see if there was anything I could do.

Has anyone dealt with this? What advice or recommendations do you have?
