news Oregon school shooter stopped by armed bystander
Not always the best idea, but it sounds like in this case it was.
Guess I should start working on finding a carry piece.

After some mod discussion…
Posts about IWI guns, or accessories from Israeli manufacturers (or sometimes even posts about completely-unrelated topics!) quickly become a discussion of Israel/Palestine politics. There are plenty of more appropriate places to have those discussions on Al Gore's internet. Comments stronger than "I'll never buy IWI" will be removed, and users will potentially be banned after repeated offenses. Stick to talking about the guns.
This will be folded into the "topicality" rule in the near future, but this sticky post serves in the stead of that change.

Even though this is being challenged, the core principals remain. We all know this phrase, and that has power. Have the courage to be yourself and stand up for your beliefs.
“Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.”

Went hunting last week - group of 5 friends met up in the middle of the country. Around 1800 km of driving in total for two days of hunting, but had a great time. Love the weight and length of the 828S when doing "støkkjakt" or flush hunting, where you just trot around the terrain in zig-zag patterns, stopping and waiting a few seconds, before you keep going. It's just around 2900 grams and with the 67 cm (26 inch) barrel set it's super handy for point-and-shoot hunting where reaction time is key.

Shooting at my local range yesterday and this little guy was behind the counter at the pro shop. Super Redhawk in 357. Came with the box and some moon clips as well. And yes, I’m going to carry this IWB.

New optic setup, can and foregrip! 16" PSA Jakl upper on a milspec lower with a Rave 140 trigger. SRU SARB-15 bullpup chassis. Samson Grenade vert foregrip, B5 pistol grip. Random riser with Holosun 510c and Vortex 3x flip up magnifier. On the front I have the SilencerCo Velos LBP suppressor, which helps a ton with gas to the face on this bad boy. Loving how this feels!

For $60 a pop, this is ridiculous. My macro mags are so much more rust prone than any other metal magazines I have. This mag was cleaned and oiled externally regularly but still will not stay rust free. My opinion of Sig has not improved.

Looking into buying a steyr AUG A3 M2 and wanted to see what the internet has to say about it today.
What are some of things you like and dislike about it?
Recommended optics?
Really want the AUG HBAR Barrel 20″ for movie movie nastagal ...you know what movie. Also want the 24″ HBAR with Bipod for BF loadout nastagal.
Both seems somewhat redundent and financially irresponsible...so maybe just one first.
All inputs are welcome..looking to buy soon.

Current safe is a union key lock 10 gun cabinet.

I can even break this all down into a small backpack for convenient stowage and travel to and from the range!
Supersonics have been great so far suppressed. Subsonics are next on the testing list, then we’ll see if I need to adjust springs/buffer weights.
I get it, now. These are so enjoyable and fun. And .300 BLK is such a great cartridge for suppression.
Should’ve gotten into this years ago! It’s so awesome.

Hi all, looking for recommendations for an AK47 optic. The majority of use will be at an indoor range until I join a club and then will shoot 100+ yards once a month. The indoor range is like 5 mins from my house so the optic will definitely get most of its use just for fun at the shorter range but I would like to also be able to shoot longer distances. Can I get some suggestions on set ups that would make sense? Trying to not break the bank as I bought some pretty pricy rifles in the last few months but open to suggestions.

Sharing a nonpartisan heads-up for Wisconsin owners: ATF’s Oct 9 enforcement shift doesn’t change Wis. Stat. §§ 941.298 and 941.28, so unregistered suppressors and SBRs may still carry Class H felony risk until the legislature updates those statutes.
On Friday, Oct 9, DOJ and ATF announced they will no longer require approval or registration under the NFA for suppressors, SBRs, SBSs, and AOWs, nationwide. This follows the Silencer Shop Foundation v. ATF / Jensen v. ATF ruling in August. (The $200 tax on these items was already cut to $0 on Jan 1, 2026.)
But there's a big catch for Wisconsin. ATF's change is an enforcement policy. It doesn't repeal the NFA, and ATF says it doesn't change state law. Under Wis. Stat. § 941.298 (suppressors) and § 941.28 (SBRs and SBSs), possession is a Class H felony (up to 6 years and $10,000) unless you've "complied with the licensing and registration requirements under 26 USC 5801 to 5872." No Wisconsin court has ruled on how that applies now.
Until Madison fixes this, don't assume an unregistered suppressor or SBR is legal in Wisconsin. ATF is still processing Form 1s and Form 4s voluntarily, "because many state laws require individuals to register NFA firearms." Don't deregister anything you already own, since ATF says those items can't be re-registered later. You still need a Form 20 to take an SBR or SBS across state lines.
What you can do today (2 minutes):
Email template
Subject: Please update Wis. Stat. §§ 941.298 and 941.28 after the ATF's NFA change
Dear Senator [Last Name] and Representative [Last Name],
I'm a law-abiding gun owner in your district. Please introduce, co-sponsor, or support legislation to amend Wis. Stat. § 941.298(3)(c) and § 941.28(4).
On October 9, 2026, ATF announced it will no longer require federal approval or registration under the National Firearms Act for suppressors, short-barreled rifles, and short-barreled shotguns. Wisconsin law makes the legality of these items depend on compliance with federal NFA registration under 26 U.S.C. §§ 5801–5872, so responsible Wisconsin residents are now stuck in legal uncertainty, facing possible Class H felony charges under a federal system that is no longer being enforced.
Please remove the federal registration condition from these statutes so Wisconsin law matches current federal policy and responsible gun owners aren't left facing felony risk.
Thank you. I'd appreciate hearing your position on this.
Sincerely, [Your Name] [Street Address] [City, WI ZIP]

There are a number of things that people want to post that mods are uncomfortable with in regular circulation … memes, patches, t-shirts, social-media posts, &c. At the same time, there's definitely interest around them.
We're introducing "Fair-Game Fridays": on fridays, mods will loosen our belts a bit. :)
Note that the following are still going to be hard-disallowed:
We reserve the "right" to use our discretion for any post, as well.
Have at it!

Not a break from guns, but a break for guns.
I had a thought in another gun buy recommendations request, and wrote this to someone who didn't have a range to try before buying: "Plan a vacation. No, I'm dead serious. If you don't have friends nearby with guns you can borrow to try before buying, make a vacation to somewhere for a few days where there's a gun range you can try guns at."
Quite a few folks do work training weeks as continuing education in other cities. Why not approach gun education and acquisition the same way? It seems a bit too Not Fun on the face of it to call it a vacation, but does anyone do this already? 'Cause it kinda strikes me as not a bad idea.
What states would be great to visit for gun recreation or learning? Recommend great ranges with great inventories of rental guns. What instructors or staffs are worth traveling to somewhere to get training? What should students (or 'vacationers') plan on doing to either bring their guns with them, or new guns back if they're in a different state? What other state rules do travelers need to be aware of?
Fer chrissake, it's probably more fun than Disney and even cheaper. (maybe)

Started building it up and realized I don’t care about BUIs or lights anymore. Wtf do I actually need and use? I like a lighter rifle way more. I don’t need every anxiety-fueled possibility bogging this thing down.

Yeah yeah I know that I can buy cheaper plastic guns.
I’m a lefty and like giving my money to companies who give a shit enough to make full ambi controls.
Up until now that meant FN and the VP9, everything else (at least when I researched it ages ago) could be converted to lefty mag release but wasn’t truly ambi.
Enter the duty series. A slightly uglier but full ambi P10c.
Thoughts? Looking to purchase in the next six months.
