Discussion Acer Aspire 14" Laptop, Intel Core Ultra 7 Processor, 16GB Memory
Hey there ! My wife needs a laptop for steno school. Need something in this price range ($600-700)or less if even possible . Need 16 gb, good audio and video , need microphone , and able to connect to a monitor. The complaint I keep hearing on acer is build quality and longevity. I don’t mind where I can buy the computer from . But like I said I need 16GB, great audio/video , great microphone , able to connect to another monitor . Would you recommend this guys ? Or is there something better ?

Discussion Macbook discussion
I didnt know what to write as title, so, I just wrote that.
Today, someone gave me a macbook, he said that it needs to be repaired. And, as I came home, it didnt turn on, there was only the sound of the fan turning on. No light, no nothing. But, there was a red light at the place where you place your earphone. Its an old macbook, and for me, I love to take things that are a challenge, and take them to the repair shop. Now, I have been eyeing a macbook neo, but, I live in Lebanon, so, buying one here, even tho its 800$, its hard, because of the financial situation. I live off a 500$ salary, and, things are though.
My point is, is it worth it, to get it fixed, or should I throw it to the garbage bin?
I love fixing things, but, right now I dont have the spare parts for a macbook, even if I had, I would learn and fix it myself since im a fast learner when it comes to fix thing. So, should I really fix it and turn it brand new, or should I buy a macbook neo after saving up money?

Laptop suggestion
As the title shows, I need a laptop for my office use in Pakistan. I usually work in Ms. Office data analysis through R/ Python and stata, online book reading, etc. Suggest me a good portable with a good battry life. Will I go to refurbished laptops available in the market, or are there any other options. One of my friends purchased a dell second-hand laptop one month ago from پشاور, and now that laptop has a charging issue. My budget is around 80k. Some people are saying that in the market, imported laptops are available. they are new, but only the box open may be avoiding import tax.

Discussion ASUS ExpertBook P5 G2 (16-inch, Core Ultra 7 356H, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD) at ₹1.05 lakh — Worth it?
I'm considering the ASUS ExpertBook P5 G2, model **P5605CAA-PL0049WS**, for around ₹1.05 lakh.
Key specs:
- Intel Core Ultra 7 356H (16 cores)
- 32GB DDR5 RAM, upgradeable
- 1TB PCIe Gen 5 NVMe SSD, expandable
- 16-inch 2.5K IPS LCD, 144Hz, 400 nits
- Metal body, Thunderbolt 4 and Ethernet
My usage is mainly business-oriented work and SQL DBA learning. I'm looking for good build quality and reliability for 4–5 years.
**Is this a good deal at ₹1.05 lakh?** How is its build quality and long-term reliability? Would you recommend it at this price, or are there better alternatives?
I'd appreciate suggestions, especially from actual owners.

I changed my vivobook x512jp laptop battery. Need advice.
I have changed my Asus Vivobook X512JP Laptop Battery few days back from an 03rd Party Seller.
I have few questions regarding this battery change. I used the original battery from the day i purchased 2020 November to 2026 October. But i cannot remember how long the original battery should last. If someone using the original Asusa Vivobook X512JP battey can you help me with following confirmation.
- How many hours the original battery lasts when it charge from 0 - 100%?
- How long it takes to charge 0 - 100?
- My current replacement battery doesn't show how long it will take to full charge in the task bar? Is it normal? Does original battey show a countdown of time to fully charge?
- My new battery took first charge 3-100% 2.5 hours. And i kept the display on and movie and music play it lasted like 2.5hours. Is that normal for an non oem third party battery?
Please help i wanna know is this battery good or should i replace.

I had a asus tuf a15 or a16 as my last laptop i think the 2023 model and the bottom and top of keyboard case snapped right off after around a year and a half, the heating was horrible and would burn me. I also had a very embarrassing moment in class where my laptop decided to turn into a jet engine just from having like 5 tabs open, absolutely mortifying, so I need something with a “quiet mode” I am not studying to be a fighter pilot.
To simplify I need a durable case that won’t snap on me because I open it, no molten lava heating problems, and especially no in class take offs, and I would like to be able to convert it to a “desktop” as needed.

DIY Got fed up with Asus App so I made my own app for the Zenbook/Zephyrus Duo
So I’ve had a Zenbook Pro Duo and a Zephyrus Duo for a while and honestly the ASUS ScreenXpert app feels like a half baked mess, is pretty barebones. You get a few app launchers and some sliders and that’s about it, and there’s barely anything you can customize.
So I started building my own thing. It’s called DuoDeck. It fills the ScreenPad with a touch control panel, and it works on regular second monitors too, so you don’t need an ASUS for it. On a single screen it can sit as a strip at the top, bottom or side, like the taskbar.
Some of the stuff it does:
- Shortcut buttons that send keys to whatever app you’re using, without stealing focus
- You can make your own pages of buttons, and it can switch to a page automatically when you open Photoshop, VS Code, a game, etc.
- Macro buttons, like one tap to open my apps, put the windows where I want them and mute my mic
- Live mirror of your main screen (or just one window), handy for minimaps in RPGs or MMOS
- Save window layouts across all your monitors and restore them with one tap
- WhatsApp / Discord / YouTube panels, music controls with synced lyrics, clipboard history
- CPU/GPU temps, fan speeds, ScreenPad brightness, battery charge limit
- OBS controls if you stream
- Dark/light theme, and it’s in 10 languages
It’s on the Microsoft Store: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9NQXHVX436RQ
It’s just me working on it, so if something’s broken or you think something’s missing, let me know. I’m still adding stuff.
